Bringing this one back up because I'm curious if anyone has found a workaround or alternative app that provides a decent handwriting mindmap feature since this original post. It's such a cool idea! Integrating it into Goodnotes could be a game-changer. Has anyone heard if the developers are considering adding this, or have you found other apps that do it well?

I’ve been wanting something like this too, mainly because tapping through menus every time feels like slogging through mud. A quick swipe to jump into edit mode would make fixing tiny mistakes way less of a chore. I also like the idea of keeping the swipe action different from the review gestures so nothing gets mixed up. Even a small affordance like a subtle corner pull could do the trick without cluttering the screen.

I felt the same shock at first, but tweaking a few settings took some of the sting out. Switching the toolbar back to compact mode and lowering the new smoothing level made the pen feel closer to what I was used to. I also rolled back my custom templates because the update broke a couple of them. Might be worth sharing your device and iOS version so folks can compare notes.

I’ve been craving this too, because right now I bounce between Goodnotes and a separate background-remover app, which feels a bit like doing the cha-cha for no reason. Even a simple quick-remove option would save so much tapping. If they added a slider for edge cleanup or a way to fine tune the cutout, that would make stickers and notes look way cleaner without pushing folks into graphic-design mode.

Kinda feels like the newer text tools took a step back, so I get where you're coming from. I’ve also been stuck tapping around way more than I used to. Having the old quick access and cleaner spacing controls would smooth things out so much. If the team adds even a simple toggle for classic text behavior, that would already take a load off.
Jumping in on this older post because I find this idea really useful. Does anyone know if there have been any updates or new features in GoodNotes that accommodate metric grid preferences? It would be great to hear if this suggestion has gained more traction or if there are any workarounds people are using to maintain accuracy in their notes and drawings.
