1. Please bring back typing + handwriting in the same note

   I really miss the old version where I could type text and handwrite in the same note. Now I have to choose between typing or writing note, which honestly makes note taking so much harder.

   I know there’s the “text” option in the handwriting mode, but it’s just not the same… it doesn’t sync as neatly, and I waste so much time adjusting font size, boldness, spacing, etc. It totally breaks my focus and I end up missing a lot of info during class.

   Please, please bring back the ability to type and write in the same note again. It used to be so smooth and perfect

2. Back to technical drawing

   As an aerospace engineer, it was essential for me to be able to draw curves and lines by connecting points without going crazy. Since the last update, if you connect multiple curved lines, the system interprets this function however it wants and gives it a shape completely different from what I intended. Moreover, if you create simple shapes like circles inside other figures, it’s no longer possible to rotate the entire drawing. Please go back to the old logic — it was 100 times better.

3. Bring back the ball point pen

   I hate using the fountain pen because I want all my writing to look consistent. The fountain pen has places where it's thicker and places where it's thinner and it drives me crazy. The ball point pen was way better because it was consistent. Bring it back!

6. Goodnotes 7 downgrade to 6

   Dear GoodNotes Support Team,

   since the recent update to GoodNotes 7 (version 7.0.3 [3413431.108865178]), my workflow has become significantly more difficult. I had deliberately disabled automatic updates, because I was fully satisfied with GoodNotes 6, which worked smoothly and intuitively for my daily academic work.

   Unfortunately, the new version has not improved anything for me — quite the opposite.
   The new user interface feels less efficient and visually cluttered, and the keyboard text tool has become cumbersome to use.
   I now have to:
   • tap the edit icon every time I want to adjust text,
   • manually switch back to the text icon each time I start a new note,
   • and constantly deal with the floating text toolbar, which follows the text field and blocks important parts of my slides and annotations. + there is no possibility to save a text form and size as standard, what the...

   This moving toolbar is extremely distracting and makes it hard to read or edit existing notes.
   Overall, the writing and text editing experience — which used to be simple, fluid, and precise in GoodNotes 6 — has become slow, fragmented, and frustrating.

   I have already tried every possible setting to restore the previous text editing behavior or revert to GoodNotes 6, but without success.
   I would therefore kindly ask you to help me return to GoodNotes 6, or provide me with access to the previous version which retained the more efficient and user-friendly design.

   GoodNotes 6 was perfect for my needs, and the recent changes have made the app almost unusable for my workflow.
   I truly hope there is a way to revert or use a “classic mode” with the old interface and text tools.

7. Handwriting to text capitalization issue

   Before the last major update, I never had issues with handwriting to text conversion capitalizing the first letter of the first word of the first sentence. Since the update, I have to rewrite the word (sometimes twice) to get it to recognize it's the beginning of a paragraph. Don't seem to have the issue once the first sentence is completed. This is time-consuming and frustrating, so a fix would be much appreciated.

8. GoodNotes 6 did this better. Bring those text features back.

   I’m glad to see that some parts of the app have improved with the latest update. However, the text editing experience is still much less convenient compared to GoodNotes 6.

   Why did you add the unnecessary “Modern, Classic, Technical” text panel in the text box? Please replace it with the “Recently Used Fonts” feature like in GoodNotes 6. Many users frequently switch between multiple fonts, so removing that feature truly makes no sense.

   Also, I really hope you bring back the option to keep the font, size, and text settings fixed at the top like in GoodNotes 6. Something that used to take one tap now requires two or three taps — and it feels like a step backward rather than an improvement.

   I appreciate the efforts being made, but I sincerely hope the next update will further improve the text experience and usability.

9. Restore font size and style adjustment in full-page text mode

   Hello GoodNotes Team,

   I’ve recently noticed that in the latest version of GoodNotes for iPad or Iphone, the “full-page text input” mode no longer provides an option to change the font size and style.

   In previous versions, users were able to freely edit both the font size and font style while using full-page text mode. This was especially useful for multilingual users like me who often type in Chinese and Japanese — since these languages have different character heights, being able to adjust the font size ensures that the text aligns properly within each line.

   In the current version, however, the font size and positioning appear inconsistent when switching between these languages, and without the ability to modify the text style or size, it’s quite difficult to make the layout clean and readable.

   It would be greatly appreciated if you could bring back or add the option to edit font size and style in full-page text input mode. The attached 3 pictures are the example how the fonts are not aligned and how do I make them aligned within each line in the previous version of goodnote6 (6.7.2 (3291127.89652630))

12. Improve handwriting to text converter by removing newlines

    Right now, when I convert my handwriting to text with the lasso tool, it also converts all the newlines. Any time I went to the next line because the line was full, the text now does to too. However, since text is more space-efficient, the newlines are placed randomly. There is no fast way of removing them, and when I ask AI to do it, it always changes some words as well, which I don't want. Can there be a way the converter understands my page layout or a button that just removes all newlines at once?

    Allow indentation with bullet points on the "Bulleted List" on the new text feature on Goodnotes 5, not just on the first line of bullet points. Similar to how you would take notes using bullet points in Microsoft, Google, or Pages. PLEASE!

    I found an issue where custom fonts installed on iOS (e.g., via the Bakey font app) do not appear in the font list when Goodnotes 6 uses the new Whiteboard-enabled UI.

    Here are the details:

    ✔ Old UI (no Whiteboard option)

    “New note” menu does not show the Whiteboard button

    Font toolbar is in the top ribbon

    Custom fonts appear normally

    ✔ New UI (with Whiteboard — released around Sep 25, 2025)

    “New note” menu includes a Whiteboard button

    Font toolbar becomes a floating popup near the text box

    Custom fonts do NOT appear in the font picker

    Happens across iPad and iPhone, regardless of device or OS version
    → This looks like an A/B rollout, and the new UI may not be loading user-installed fonts.

    ✔ Suggestion

    Please update the new Whiteboard text editor UI so that:

    Custom/user-installed fonts load correctly (same behavior as the old UI)

    Font picker remains consistent across UI variants

    A regression check is added to ensure custom fonts aren’t dropped during UI transitions

    Custom fonts are an essential part of many users’ workflows, so ensuring parity between the old and new UI would greatly improve the experience.

15. can’t make font size larger than 100pt

    I used to have a title of each notebook with a large font size. In the latest Goodnotes 7 I am unable to obtain a font larger than 100. That’s a problem. Can you help me with that?

16. handwriting disappears on sticky notes

    When writing on a sticky note sometimes the text I wrote, not typed, will disappear behind the sticky note. I have to collapse the sticky note and reopen it in order for the text to show on top of the note.

Would it be possible for the software to automatically identify the image and turn it into a perfect shape after I draw a relatively rough line? 18. Shape editing

    Good afternoon, I am writing to tell you that I have been a goodnotes user for approximately 5 years. I am testing the new update you have made, and I have a negative comment. I wanted to tell you that I have found the control of the shapes a little uncomfortable. When selecting a line for example, the blue dots that appear at the ends to edit the shape are a little annoying. Previously (a few months ago), when you selected a shape, those dots reduced their size to the thickness (approximately) of the shape line, even when zooming in. Now, it turns out that when zooming those shape controls become very large, which is unpleasant since it is difficult to edit and square lines for example. I don't know if you have received more comments on this topic, but in my case, who studies engineering, there are times when I find it uncomfortable to make a drawing and for example put two lines together.

    I wanted to write this to you in case you could review it and if you consider it convenient to change it as it was before.

    Since the recent update, the laser got to make layers by each stroke. But it’s very inconvenient when I am writing letters, as the previous stroke shows up darker and the handwriting gets so messy.. please change it back so it can be used with one layer.

20. Ink drawn on top of imported elements jump behind when you try to

    Subject: Ink layer jumps behind imported graph elements when selected in GoodNotes 7

    Description:
    When using GoodNotes 7 (currently on version 7.0.8), any ink drawn on top of an imported image or element (for example, a coordinate-grid or graph) behaves incorrectly after being selected.

    Steps to reproduce:
    1. Insert an image or element (such as a coordinate grid) onto the page.
    2. Send the image to the back.
    3. Draw a parabola or any ink stroke on top of the grid using the Pen tool (optionally with Shape Recognition enabled).
    4. After the ink snaps into shape, tap it once to select or move it.

    Expected behavior:
    The ink should remain visible on top of the graph while being moved, resized, or edited—allowing accurate alignment with graph points.

    Actual behavior:
    As soon as the ink is selected, it automatically moves behind the image or element, making it nearly impossible to see or adjust precisely. Once deselected, the ink jumps back in front again. This repeats every time the object is moved.

    Impact:
    This issue makes graphing, geometry, and math-related note-taking extremely difficult, as it prevents precise manipulation of shapes and curves over imported coordinate grids.
