Welcome to the Goodnotes idea-sharing space!

This space is dedicated to users on Apple devices (iPad, Mac, iPhone). If you’re using Goodnotes on Android, Windows, or Web, please visit this link.

Tips to make your suggestion visible and bring your idea to life:

  • Search existing threads. Your idea might already be under discussion. If so, feel free to add your input or vote on it. More votes = more visibility.
  • Create a new thread if it’s new. If your suggestion is unique, start a new thread. Write a short, clear headline that quickly conveys your main idea, and include context and details in the description.
  • Separate multiple ideas. If you have several suggestions, split them into individual topics so we can review (and others can vote on) each one more effectively.

  1. Some free programs, like CollaNote have a rectangular lasso tool where you drag the top left point to the bottom right that is honestly faster in a lot of cases for very straightforward notes, instead of needing to draw a nearly fully closed circle.

  2. Among the recent “ideas” I’ve seen more comments sharing links to casino websites than actual useful ideas. I don’t know if there’s already someone moderating the section, but I think it’d be faster to ban links in the comments (I’m not an expert in website development so I don’t know how hard it actually would be)
    Thanks

  3. It would be amazing if we could get an Update in Goodnotes 6 with an AI Copilot that outlines the most important informations of a page (also the handwritten) on the side to make them easier to learn. Please also integrate an connection to this AI with the vocabularies, to generate them automatically from the note page.

    Hello,

Automatic outline creation is already available in Goodnotes. With Goodnotes AI, you can automatically generate outlines that analyze your documents and create structured, topic-based sections to help you navigate and review key information. This feature works with handwritten content and uses AI to identify important themes and structure.

    Please find more details here.

Let us know if that works for you!

  4. Hi, I'm a student from Brazil, and unfortunately I don't have an Apple iPad or mac, so please, make it available for android. I have a Samsung s20 FE and I really wish I could use GoodNotes. My favorite function is the handwriting recognizer. I am waiting for good news. Thank you.

  6. It would be great if mind maps were integrated into the features set for your app! Something sort of like MindNode. I like how easy it is to use their app for those things, but I use Goodnotes for everything else

    Thanks for your feedback!

We're excited to announce that mind-mapping tools are now available in the latest version of Goodnotes on Apple devices.

Here are a few ways you can start mind mapping in Goodnotes:

    1. Freehand with available shapes and arrows:

You have all the tools you need to start capturing ideas and making connections between them.

Learn more about the improved shape tools.

    2. Using the Spider Map template for Whiteboard documents:

In the latest version of Goodnotes, we've introduced a new document type called "Whiteboard."

    Learn more about Whiteboard.

To access it, click the "+" icon on the right side of the toolbar, then select "View All Templates." You'll see the Spider Map (Mind Map) template ready to add to your board.

Make sure your app is updated to the latest version to get access to these features.

  7. It would be great if I could select multiple pages and add to one outline, rather than having to copy and paste the outline title into each page.

    Hello,

Currently, we don’t have an option to add multiple pages to the outline in bulk. However, there’s a faster way to generate outlines using Goodnotes AI. You can simply ask AI to create an outline for your document, and it will review all pages and organize them automatically—so you don’t need to add them manually.

Let us know if this works best for you.

For more details, please read here.

Thank you so much for sharing your feedback. We understand that this topic is very important to you. In the meantime, Goodnotes on Android, Windows, and Web supports most of the major features you enjoy on Apple, though we’re still working on creating a more consistent experience across all platforms.

To specify your ideas and features you want, we recommend sharing ideas in separate threads: 1 feature request = 1 thread. This makes it easier for others to vote, check if an idea has already been submitted, and helps us identify which ideas are most important to you.

Once a feature goes live, we’ll update the thread and you’ll receive an email notification from the portal promptly.

We look forward to hearing your ideas!

Hello, thanks for sharing the idea!

The option to sort the outline by page number just went live in the recent iOS release (version 7.0.22).

To enable it, tap the top-left icon in the Outlines sidebar and select Sort by Page Number.

Please note that switching to this option will remove any custom ordering.

You can read more details about outlines here.

Search within Outlines is also available within

Searching within outlines is also available via the document’s Search tool. Tap Search (the icon on the left side of the toolbar, next to the sidebar icon), then select Search → Outlines.

  13. Especially in PDFs and PowerPoint Presentations where you cannot add more room to write on or around the page, having the ability to add and create a collapsible “sticky note” on the page would be useful. An example is provided:

    Hello,

With the September 2025 update, collapsing Sticky Notes are now available.

    To use them:

    1. Select Sticky Notes from the main toolbar (it’s a separate tool).
    2. Create a sticky note.
    3. Tap Collapse (the arrows icon) in the object menu, the note will collapse along with its text, similar to a comment icon.
    4. To expand it again, simply tap the sticky note.

    Screenshot attached.

  17. Better organisation options through internal links!! When you have a lot of notes you don't want to be searching through hundreds of pages for the specific topic your looking for! I would love to be able to create an index where I click on the topic and it will take me there, like google docs does (one of my favourite features). Maybe different personalisation options side tabs like a binder and you can click them to go to the specified area (as a seperate option not instead of basic internal links). I have found people asking for this as far…

Hello, the option for quickly navigating multi-page documents already exists—you can do this using Outlines.

Outlines are available in the sidebar, and you can customize them as needed: generate them with AI, create them manually, or import them from an existing PDF file.

You can find more details on how Outlines work here: https://support.goodnotes.com/hc/en-us/articles/7353757101071-Create-an-outline
