develop GoodNotes for Android as a native app
Hello, GoodNotes Developers
I’m glad that I can use GoodNotes in Android.
GoodNotes, which works on web app, will not create the experience of using GoodNotes on iPad. That's why you have to make it work as a native app.
The limitations of web app are clear. For example, latency.
To compete with Samsung Note (Free to download!!), you need to provide a better experience.
I understand that it is a beta version now, but I hope it becomes a native app when it is released as an official version.

The app is currently running on chrome. So it refreshes suddenly in middle of nowhere. It's very frustrating that it keeps on crashing when
doing something important. Please look into it -

I absolutely agree, the WebApp version on Android is really not great, if they turned it into a Native App, then the biggest problem would be solved immediately. iOS version of the App is very good, but why cant the Android Version atleast be made into an actual app, it doesnt even have to be as optimized as the iOS version because that is not 100% possible on Android i realize that, but atleast make an App that works well, and is an actual App and not a Chrome Tab.

Yes I agree! Im currently using it for my notetaking on my samsung tab, but had to switch back to my ipad because of the lag and it doesnt have a timer also. I really hope they would turn this to a full on native app..

I truly cannot believe how many "updates" they've done and yet never fixed the root of all of our problems

Exactly!!! This app was not really made for android, just a glorified web app at the moment and has been since its inception... would be great if it was actually made for android, it would make the app more efficient, prevent the lag which is currently present and provide a better experience on the whole, rather than opening an instance on chrome, after all we are paying full price, but why do Apple users get a much better app experience.
It would solve that annoying notes not loading issue as well.

Ive been asking myself where was this feature, why not just code for it to run natively and have 2 big customer base?

Exactly this. A web app wrapper is a complete mess. Slow, laggy, few features and no offline connection which is vital for many of us.
Now, this suggestion is more than two years old... I don't think GoodNotes will see me renew my subscription at this point.

This is exactly what we need. I paid for a full year of Goodnotes as I needed an app that worked both on Android and Mac. Now I regret it as many times I need to work offline and have to use other apps due to the web app being borderline unusable.

Turn Goodnotes for Android to an full on native app, same as on the Ipad where it performs smooth, not like that cheap web version on Android, I'm really happy you guys moved your app also to Android but you can't say that web thing is good, we need a real app, a native app and I hope that's what you guys are working on.

I totally share your thoughts on this. While the current web-based beta is a good start, it just can’t match the speed or fluid feel of a true native Android app. Latency and limited offline features really stand out when you’re trying to write or sketch, and that’s where Samsung Notes still has the edge.
Building a native version is definitely a bigger lift, but with a proven mobile app development workflow it’s absolutely achievable. I came across a detailed guide here: https://www.appnality.com/blog/mobile-app-development-workflow/
that shows how a structured process—from planning and UX design to testing—can help deliver a smooth, high-performance app.Hopefully the GoodNotes team follows a similar approach so Android users can enjoy the same seamless experience iPad users rave about.

Android version on Boot Go 10.3 is very very laggy. Unusable. Sadly. I purchased GO in order to have cross platform e-ink note taking with iPad.

Currently Goodnotes on Android, Windows or even web isn't even close to feature parity with its Apple versions. I don't think it's a good idea to develop 2 separate versions of Goodnotes for different platforms.
Yes, eventually the versions might converge in terms of feature parity, but that will likely be a very long time. And even then maintenance would be problematic, as well as the development of new features, since there 2 different versions with different tech stacks and bugs, at the very least. This would likely perpetuate what is going on now, division; a main version — which has everything and is better version — and the alternate version — which doesn't have everything and is worse.
If instead the Apple version codebases were converted to a tech stack, which could facilitate easy development for all platforms at once, then Goodnotes could be easier to develop for all platforms, likely faster compared to developing two versions, which are at very different points of development. This would also mean, that the overall software could also be further improved in terms of polish, since now it wouldn't seem like a waste of resources, because the improvements would go to all of the versions at once.
Yes, converting a codebase is not an easy task, and the platforms are different, but at least having most of the code shared among the different version should be a huge improvement. I think it's a way better solution in the longterm than maintaing two different version. -

make it so it is an actuall app and not a webapp (and then everything can be stored locally so stickers work oflline, the same with all of the document because now it takes a long time to load everything in when i open a document=

goodnotes being a web app on both android and windows makes it much more laggy and the delay is much more noticable. it would improve the user experience if it was finally converted to a native app.

I would also like to see this as an actual locally installed app that does not require constant syncing to the web. I spent about 30 minutes just trying to write one WORD with my pen, because it would try to save/sync mid stroke, and mess up individual letters.

This webbased design is horrible just make it a widows native app so that it can also be used offline and much more

Obviously, as soon as the internet goes down, the app starts to lag, moreover it cannot be used offline, the input lag is very high, the text disappears randomly and then reappears, it freezes after two minutes that I have opened the app and then starts going again 30 seconds later, and I'm paying for it too...
do something and make it a real desktop app -
Aaron Doll commented
It is only a Browser app, thus not working offline, etc.
Since Goodnotes is officially out of the Beta Phase you should at least create an app for it. -

What the rubbish is this I thought it would be like ios version full app but it's a web app I got completely frustrated by using this app and I an cancelling my subscription means even the imported documents could not load properly despite I am having an internet speed of 300 Mbps. Very bad experience good notes haven't thought of this it would be better that u bring the full version app not the web App.
