Feature Request – Can We Get Toggleable Layers for Handwritten Notes?
Hi Goodnotes team & community,
I’m a longtime user and really love the flexibility of handwriting in the app. One feature I keep wishing for—especially when working on complex study notes or sketching diagrams—is the ability to create and toggle between layers, similar to how it's done in drawing apps like Procreate.
Specifically, I’d love to:
Create multiple handwriting layers within a single page
Hide/show layers to focus on different content (e.g. lecture notes vs. personal annotations)
Reorder or lock layers to prevent accidental edits

Free plan for students

Your free plan for schools is an amazing tool for educational institutions,although i think it could be added a free plan for students aswell. Students face significant learning demands, and it's hard to balance educational expenses with living necessities. By offering a free plan tailored for students, you would help us to leverage these tools with less financial barriers.
While a student-focused free plan might have certain limitations and verifications compared to your full offerings, the benefits for students and the potential long-term user growth are considerable.

Adapt Apple Pencil Pro Pinch Gesture
Has the Apple Pencil Pro adaptation issue in Goodnotes 5 still not been resolved?
The pinch gesture on Apple Pencil Pro can be used for erasing, switching colors, and bringing up the toolbar, but in Goodnotes 5, it only supports undo. Can this be properly adapted?
Even Procreate has already implemented these features—as the best note-taking app on iPad, it’s surprising that Goodnotes still lacks this functionality.
The pinch feature on the Pencil Pro is currently heavily underutilized in the app. Please prioritize this adaptation as soon as possible.1 vote -

Improve Collaboration and Workflow Integration
Goodnotes for Teams could be even better with stronger real-time collaboration features. For example, allowing multiple team members to edit and annotate the same document simultaneously, similar to Google Docs or Notion, would greatly enhance productivity.
It would also be helpful to have better integration with common workplace tools like Microsoft Teams, Slack, or Notion, so teams can share notes or updates seamlessly. Finally, adding role-based permissions and version control would make it more practical for enterprise-level workflows.

Measurement function in Goodnotes for technical sketches
We are a craft business and work with sketches and plans on a daily basis. What would help us enormously would be a measurement function—i.e., the ability to measure distances or set scales.
This would be a huge step forward, especially in the technical field. Drawing, discussing, and implementing would be much more efficient.
Perhaps this is an idea for one of the next updates. We would be very happy about it.

Locking Picture into place, pen features & more.
I would love to add a new feature to photos added to Goodnotes, which is Locking them into place because many times when I write on and around the pictures it's accidentally triggered by palm touch and moves which ruins my writing.
Another important feature i would like to add or modify is when i draw using my pen different shapes as a curve and then hold it becomes a rigid structure and doesn't register my curve as a curve so it completely changes it which is disappointing to be honest and it could be easily fixed with an update.…16 votes -
multiple notebooks open android
I used to use an ipad for my note taking and I was able to have multiple files/notebooks open and switch between them seamlessly. now I use an android tablet and this option is not available and I have to close the file to open another one. please bring that feature into the android app.

scroll button should be visible even against black background
I hope you can add a big scroll button which is visible all time and even against black template which is not even visible in black template .This tool can save a lot of time if you want to glance over a big pdf file which is not possible easily as the scroll button vanishes and is very small .Make a custom setting for scroll button if possible .

Shared Dashboard for Organizations
In our industry, we have a lot of paperwork we need to fill out and share with multiple parties. If organizations are allowed a shared dashboard that all members can see, then all documents would be available to the necessary parties without the added steps of sharing each individual document.

Can We Please Talk About Better Syncing and Handwriting Features?
Alright, so I have been using GoodNotes for like two years now mostly for school and planning my daily chaos and I love it… like, mostly. It is clean, intuitive, not super clunky like some others I have tried. But recently I have been getting a bit frustrated with how syncing works between devices and the way handwriting sometimes goes rogue, especially when I switch between my iPad and Mac. Precise Text Highlighting with Apple Pencil

Lecture notes with annotation space
The biggest issue I have found for taking notes in lecture with Goodnotes is that when I am given a powerpoint to follow along with I tend to make annotations and notes side-by-side the slides. But I get distracted very easily when I quickly run out of space, either forcing me to add a new notebook page and have it after the slide.

How can I batch-export selected pages as individual PDFs?
Hi everyone,
I’m working on a project where each page of my GoodNotes notebook needs to be its own standalone PDF—but GoodNotes only lets me export a page range as a single file. Before I resort to manually splitting the PDF later, does anyone know of a way or workaround to:
Select multiple non‑contiguous pages (for example: pages 2, 5, 7, 10)
Export each one immediately as its own PDF document in a batch
Bonus points if there’s a Shortcut or script that can automate this on iPadOS! Any tips, plug‑ins, or creative workflows you’ve used would be hugely appreciated.
