Jumping in on this older post because this idea is super practical! Having a visible route back to the home folder sounds like a great quality-of-life improvement for Goodnotes. Angus, have you tried any extensions or third-party apps that might offer similar functionality? It’d be cool to see how others tackle this issue or even suggest it directly to the app developers!

Turning pages and having stuff shift under my pen drives me up the wall too, so I get where you're coming from. I'd love a true lock that freezes objects even while using the lasso or moving layers around. A small lock icon or a long-press lock option could keep things tidy without adding extra taps. It would make templates way less fiddly and stop those tiny accidental nudges that somehow ruin the whole layout.

Feels like the text tool is driving with the handbrake on right now. I’ve had the same slowdown, and it really adds up on longer docs. I ended up toggling autocorrect off too, but it’s a rough workaround. Would be cool if GoodNotes let us keep autocorrect while caching text locally so it doesn’t freeze every few seconds. Even a lightweight mode for big documents would make typing way smoother.

Adding support like this usually picks up speed when more folks drop their samples or upvote, so I tossed mine in too. I’ve seen other languages move faster once people share a couple of handwritten pages, even quick ones. If you haven’t already, uploading a few notes with mixed handwriting styles might give the team more to chew on. Sometimes that tiny push gets things rolling.

I’ve felt that slowdown too, and what helped me a bit was trimming down huge notebooks and turning off automatic sync for a while. GoodNotes can get a bit cranky when a file gets chunky. I also cleared the recent notes list, which weirdly made page flips smoother on my iPad. Not perfect, but it took the edge off while waiting for the devs to tune things up again.

Tweaking stroke thickness after the fact would save me so much re-writing, especially on messy lecture notes. I get around it by lasso-selecting the handwriting, copying it to a vector-friendly app, adjusting the weight there, then pasting it back, but it's clunky and breaks my flow. A simple thickness slider for selected strokes would feel like a small tweak that punches way above its weight.
Late to the party, but I'm really intrigued by the idea of page expansion! It could be a game-changer for better customization, especially for those who annotate a lot. Does anyone know if Goodnotes has considered similar suggestions or updates recently? Also, how do others manage their annotations with the current setup? Would love to hear more thoughts!
