[Fountain Pen] Improvements
The good notes fountain pen does not write how a fountain pen should. A fountain pen has a metal nib that creates thin cross strokes and wide down strokes. The pen in good notes is the opposite with wide side strokes and thin down strokes. The apple notes fountain pen is perfect in recreating the look of an actual fountain pen. This is the only reason I have to stay with apple notes. The pen interface is the most important for me. Otherwise, I would use good notes.

Yeah, at the moment all the three pens are like the same.

The pressure of the pen remains same throughout. It should vary with curve of the letter.

part of what makes fountain pen writing look personal and nice to look at it the subtle shades of colour variation in each stroke. You get pooling around the heavy press areas and lighter colour in the lighter press, less corner-y/curvy strokes. No other note taking app does this as far as I am aware and would give GN a really personal, beautiful feel.
This is why I use a fountain pen in real life - the character of it.

The writing experience needs a for-real chisel point, fountain pen look. The app Notesplus has a gorgeous one, but I had to give it up because GoodNotes is better in every other way. But man, I miss it. See examples uploaded...

This was one of my most used tools, it was very useful and gave a more natural feel to my notes. And now it’s gone. I would love to be able to draw shapes and lines with the brush pen or fountain pen again.

Please fix this goodnotes! I love your product, but it's been a month, and this behavior is still driving me nuts.

A lot of people would agree that fountain pen in Goodnotes, while still very good, lags behind the competition (Noteshelf, Notability).
I think adding texture or random shading, similar to what you can see in real fountain pens, to the fountain pen stroke will greatly improve its visual. Addition of stub nib effect will also improve writing experience.

Just in the last update the ability to use the fountain pen when drawing a shape or straight line has been taken out. (and only ball pen is allowed)
This is really jarring because it means that suddenly you're drawing a line which is substantially thicker than the text you were writing.
Also the shapes have lost that sweet, 'organic', 'hand drawn' quality that looked awesome before. The new shapes are sterile.
Please undo the last update, it looks terrible!

I agree. The shape tool used to use whatever pen was selected (I always use the brush pen). But now it just uses the ball pen regardless. This means the borders are much thinner for example. Can we have the old feature?

I love the new feature which allows drawing shapes very simply without using the shape tool. Thank you! But I also often used and rely upon the ability to draw shapes with a Fountain pen or brush pen outline. The new feature seems to have disabled this. Please can you bring back Fountain pen and brushed outline shapes as they were before? Thank you

i love the pen in apple’s notes. it looks exactly like how my handwriting would look on paper. please add a pen like that, i find that my handwriting always looks off with the ballpoint or fountain pen.

The new update (Version 5.4.22) made some tweaks to the beginning/ending points for the ink of fountain pen. It is now much less pressure-sensitive and comes out just like the ball pen. Please bring back the previous version as it writes more like fountain pen. Or at least give us more options for having pen tips or not.

Good Notes 4 gave me options in-between those widths,

Of the 3 line width options, fine is too small and medium too big for note taking on letter size paper on my 12" ipad

Almost a year since this was posted - I really thought that this would happen. The fountain pen feature makes for such nice lettering - a shame it disappears on the Apple Pencil. It's the only thing that makes me miss my old sloppy disc-tipped stylus.

You create a great app, but it's an HANDWRITING app. So please give me a real fountain pen and not this 2 cent pen with no difference to the ballpointpen.
Handwriting needs a little bit of calligraphic. It's just a question of aesthetic.
A second nice to have would be the possibility to export tasks directly from GN to the apple to-do-app.Thank you for your attention.

Now, when I draw a thin line it starts with a dot thicker than my line, messing up my serifs.
