  1. I’d love to see a persistent side navigation panel inside GoodNotes.

Right now, switching between folders or notebooks requires repeatedly pressing the back arrow and exiting screens. It would be much more efficient if there were a collapsible sidebar that lets users quickly access folders, recent notebooks, or favorites while staying inside their current note.

This would help maintain focus during studying and make navigation feel more fluid, similar to sidebar navigation in messaging or file management apps.

  2. Feature Request: Shared Folder Collaboration with Real-Time Updates

    Dear GoodNotes Team,

I am a teacher who relies on GoodNotes daily for lesson planning, organizing resources, and collaborating with colleagues. While I truly appreciate the powerful tools GoodNotes offers for handwriting and annotation with the Apple Pencil, there is one feature that would greatly improve collaboration for educators:

The ability to share entire folders with colleagues so that multiple users can:

Add new documents to a shared folder.

Write on and annotate shared documents using the Apple Pencil.

View and access changes in real time, including edits, new notes, or added…

  3. I want to make the tabs pinnable, shrinking them into small icons in the corner. It prevents clutter but keeps them handy, since I use them too often to close or scroll for finding them every time.

  4. You can duplicate a file but you cant duplicate a folder. I create template folders and it would be useful to duplicate the master folder.

  6. Hi goodnotes is my go to app and searching accros 500 folders is becoming tedious so allowing pdf to have "tags" for example: my course note in algebra I put the tags "Course note" and "Algebra" and I can filter and find It in 2 seconds instead of putting it in favorite and look at all the others files that are favorited.

  7. Hello,

Thank you for your great app.

I would like to suggest a feature that could improve the user experience.

Currently, Goodnotes displays documents in a single-page view. It would be very helpful to have an option for a two-page spread (double-page view), similar to reading a physical book.

Additionally, it would be very useful to view two pages side-by-side or work in a dual-page (split) mode while taking notes.

This feature would greatly improve studying efficiency and overall usability.

    Thank you for your consideration.

  8. There are two view modes in Goodnotes:

    1. File navigation
    2. Documents tabs (the documents already open)

We can switch from 2 to 1.

But for some baffling reason there is no way to simply switch from 1 to 2. Instead there is only the contrived way of having to open any file in order to return to 2.

I do not know why Goodnote's UI/UX team has been thinking all these years that that be an okay solution. No other programme does this and it is counterintuitive.

Could you please add this? It's so easy to do. E.g. you could add…

  9. In Nursing school, we take a lot of notes. I'm sure other subjects else too. But I wish I didn't have to scroll through dozens of pages to find something. I wish I was able to add a little tab on the side, color code it and name it. I know you can "flag" It but it's not very helpful because I have to open the side and then try to find the one page I flagged.
For example. If I download a book - I have to scroll through all the pages to look for the chapters. If the…

  10. When I have a document open, the tab bar shows a tab for each open document. Also, the Home tab appears on the left in the tab bar. When I click on it, the tab bar with the open documents disappears. To get back to the open documents, I then have to open a document again.

It would be easier if in the Home view (a) the tab bar remained permanently at the top (so that the Home view is just another tab), or (b) there was a shortcut called “Open documents” on the left.

  11. Goodnotes often opens unexpectedly on the Home Screen (at least after every update).
Please add a button to the Home Screen so that users can easily return directly to Tab View (i.e., the actual working environment).
It's really annoying to have to select an already open file every time just to get back to Tab View.

  13. Visible route / direct link back to the document home folder. When working on a document and leaving it open amongst several other open documents… what folder is the open document link to? What is the route back to that folder? I have many ‘orphaned’ documents that I’d like to link to others…if I knew which folder they were in!?

  14. Have a feature where you can expand the page of a document, so that you can have extra space to write annotations. This would be helpful for med students like me who often write and annotate over books but have no space to write. Have an option to expand the page to the left, or to the right, or expand both sides, or customized expansion.

  15. To make it quicker to add internal document hyperlinks, we should have the option to be able to TYPE the page numbers instead of individually having to scroll throughout the notebook.

  16. I would love to see a wider variety of folder emoji options in GoodNotes.

Currently, the limited selection makes it harder to visually organize folders in a way that reflects different subjects, moods, or purposes. Many users rely on visual cues for quick navigation, and expanding the emoji library would greatly improve usability and personalization.

For example, adding more categories such as symbols, Exclusive color for emojis, objects, or even allowing custom emoji (including iOS emojis) would make the experience much more intuitive and enjoyable.

This small change could significantly enhance folder organization and overall user satisfaction.

    Thank you for…

  17. Hello GoodNotes Team,

I have a small feature request regarding the page navigator.

On my previous 12.9-inch iPad, the page thumbnails were displayed four per row. I organized many of my bookmarked pages assuming this four-per-row layout.

After switching to a 13-inch iPad, the navigator now displays five thumbnails per row. Because of this, the layout of my bookmarked pages has been disrupted. The rows I organized are now mixed, which makes it difficult to recognize them at a glance.

It would be very helpful if users could customize the number of thumbnails per row (for example, choosing four instead…

  18. I truly appreciate the powerful note-taking experience that GoodNotes offers. However, I would love to see a Pin Notes feature and a Quick Access Folder option to enhance workflow efficiency.

Currently, navigating between different notes for ongoing study, work, or projects requires extra steps, which can be time-consuming. A pinned notes section would allow users to keep frequently used documents easily accessible.

  19. As a long time Mac user, this appears to not scale with screen resolution changes - unless I'm missing something?

I simply run a 16" Macbook Pro with a 32" BenQ studio monitor, at 3008x1692. Native 1:1 on this monitor is 4k (3840x2160), and is even less usable. Surely others are using 4K UDH monitors!

The attached screenshot gives an idea of how tiny the UI features and text is in the latest version, and the Finder tool bar gives an idea of how everything else renders/scales correctly.

Is there a way to just enlarge a floating app window -…

  20. Every goodnotes update is worse and worse... dont fix it, if it aint broken!!! When I click to go see and scroll through all the pages in a document I dont want a measly 3 pages that I can see per line. I'm a medical student and my lectures that I take notes on from good notes are 100s of pages long and this makes scrolling through large documents extremely inefficient. Bring back the 5 pages per line!!!
