New version is so much worse
Now its nearly unusable,I can’t edit a type-in document,It won’t let me change the colors or edit the title type,it is not comfortable to find the type-in part either.It just got so much worse,I’m close to switching to another note taking app.Please fix these and let us get back the previus version !

Drawing on text document
Following the recent update which added the text document, I think that users should be able to have the option of writing, drawing and highlighting on the page. For me my study method is typing out my lecture notes in OneNote and then exporting to Goodnotes to highlight and annotate. However, if I was able to do this with the text document feature, it would make things so much easier. Not just for me but other users also.

Full Dark Mode
I’d like to request a full Dark Mode, comparable to Notability, including:
• Dark UI and dark page/paper backgrounds
• Automatic ink/highlighter/sticker color adjustment for readability
• Both per-notebook and global settings, plus an option to follow system appearanceThis would reduce eye strain when writing/reading at night and improve usability on high-contrast displays. If Goodnotes offered this, I would return and subscribe.

Latest update forced me to go back to Goodnotes 5
The new Oct 2025 update makes it impossible to use Goodnotes as I used to. The grouping of tools doubles or triples my clicks, the default lasso break the writing flow and I can't draw straight lines without a ruler anymore.
I am going back to Goodnotes 5. This update makes using the app very frustrating.4 votes -

Single color palette for all tools
Please consider adding the ability to create a single color preset palette that can be used & modified by all applicable tools (ie pen, highlighter, pencil, shape, and text). I have at least 50 different pen tool color presets that are not all presets for the highlighter, shape, and text tools, but are used regularly to color code notes. If I write something in one of those colors then need to draw/highlight/type something later in the same color but the preset is not saved in the respective tool, I either have to copy the color from the pen tool or…

New update = hot garbage
- The tool bar being ON my document is blocking parts of my notebook, making my working area smaller.
- When in split screen mode half of the toolbar disappears(we used to be able to scroll over still) and will only reappear if i make the window bigger.
- Instead of functions being displayed on the toolbar i now have to press extra buttons to get to things like the bookmark, but why?
- Why is my pen automatically the lasso? In GoodNOTES you would think i would automatically need the pen no?

Enable Text Highlighting with Mouse on iPadOS
Dear Goodnotes Team,
I’d like to share some feedback regarding the use of a mouse in the iPadOS version of Goodnotes.
Currently, when using the app on a MacBook, it’s possible to highlight text with a mouse. However, on the iPad, this functionality is not available. If you’re using an iPad with a mouse and keyboard setup, you have to physically move the iPad closer, pick up the Apple Pencil, and only then can you highlight text.
This makes the experience less seamless, especially for users who prefer a desktop-like setup with their iPad.

Partial Synchronizing
I've been using more and more files on Goodnote and I realized it would be great if we can select which files/folder to sync to other devices while keeping the rest locally. For 1, this saved much space in icloud, especially for those who has many files in Goodnote. For 2, people can have more freedom in synchronizing while having access to necessarily files in Goodnote on other devices.

Feature request: auto-add date and folder name when creating new files
It would be really helpful if, when creating a new notebook or whiteboard, GoodNotes could automatically include the current date (e.g. “September 1, 2025”) and optionally the name of the folder (e.g. “NameFolder – September 1, 2025”) in the file name.
This would greatly improve file organization, especially for users who create many documents daily (like teachers) and want to keep everything tidy without having to rename files manually.2 votes -
Return underlining button
GN recently took away the ability to do straight underling in favor of holding the pen until it snaps into place. I do a lot of underlining of study projects, and that was my most used feature. Now it is gone and it takes much more time to have to hold the pen for a straight line to snap into place. What is wrong with adding that button back into the annotation mix? Notebook Synchronization
Integrating a synchronization button within the three dots menu of a notebook would help synchronize it when working on it from a laptop or iPad, as there is a synchronization delay between the two devices. This would allow the user to avoid going back to the main menu to synchronize the notebook and then return to their work.

GoodNotes AI is Unnecessary
The new features feel unnecessary and almost like bloatware. Other LLMs, such as DeepSeek, Gemini, etc are AI tools that other companies, universities, etc have licenses with. The AI credits are also useless - what is the incentive to use GoodNotes AI vs DeepSeek, Gemini, GPT4, etc, if you need to pay $9.99 more per month.
There isn't a way to turn off AI in GoodNotes either, which is pretty frustrating.
A huge motivation for people to switch from Notability to GoodNotes was the better UI and affordability. Paying $9.99/month for AI credits, for a feature I haven't seen many…1 vote -
8-shaped selection for multi-page PDF export (Whiteboard & Notebooks)
When exporting a large selected area as a PDF, handwriting often becomes pixelated or blurry.
It would be helpful if users could draw an “8” shape with the selection tool to divide the selected area into multiple regions. The intersection of the “8” could act as a separator, allowing Goodnotes to automatically export the content as multiple PDF pages (two or more, depending on the gesture).
This feature could work on both Whiteboard and Notebook pages, making it easier to export large handwritten notes while keeping the text quality high.

I would love to see a hint option added to the study cards. I believe it would add to the effectiveness of the memorizing process for many of us. Sometimes I just need a word or two to get me pointed in the right direction.
