Feature Request: Shared Folder Collaboration with Real-Time Updates
Dear GoodNotes Team,
I am a teacher who relies on GoodNotes daily for lesson planning, organizing resources, and collaborating with colleagues. While I truly appreciate the powerful tools GoodNotes offers for handwriting and annotation with the Apple Pencil, there is one feature that would greatly improve collaboration for educators:
The ability to share entire folders with colleagues so that multiple users can:
Add new documents to a shared folder.
Write on and annotate shared documents using the Apple Pencil.
View and access changes in real time, including edits, new notes, or added files.
Currently, we can share individual documents, but the inability to collaborate across entire folders makes it difficult to manage shared lesson plans, student resources, and collaborative projects efficiently.
Providing folder-level sharing with real-time updates would make GoodNotes an indispensable tool for teams of teachers who need to work together seamlessly. This feature would allow us to better serve our students and streamline collaboration across classrooms.
Thank you for considering this request. Many educators would greatly benefit from these enhancements, and we would be excited to see GoodNotes continue leading the way in digital learning tools.

Hello GoodNotes Team,
I'm a teacher and we are currently testing tablet-classes (iPads). I asked my student to create a GoodNotes document for my lessons and share it with my, for me to view their notes. Now comes my suggestion, could you add a function to create folder in which shared-documents can be sorted/moved? That way I could sort them by class/subject, which would make it clearly arranged and much easier to find a specific shared-document.

I am carrying 2 Ipads whenever I have to travel as it is too troublesome to share all my files one by one.
Have been a GN user since 2016 and this would be a gamechanger!

It's so hard to share every document. Especially when you're working with PDFs or PNGs... You have to upload the new document and share a new link! It would be so much easier if an entire folder could be shared. Please add this feature! It's essential.

I share dozens of documents between my work iPad and my private MacBook and it's such a hassle to share every document via a link. Sharing folders would be a game changer! Or anything that would make sharing documents easier.

This feature would be a game changer. I use GoodNotes to create custom closet designs and there isn’t currently an efficient way to share information between my personal iPad and my work iPad. Please add this feature!!

Share folders with team members and get notifications about changes
I would like to have the option to share a whole folder with team members. All of the members should have the possibility to work in all notes inside the folder and to add new notes to the folder.
Also I would like to get notifications when someone changed or added things inside the shared folder/note. So that I can directly jump in and see the changes. It feels quite cumbersome that someone has to contact me outside the system to tell me that he worked inside the notes/added notes etc. -

I need this as well as my whole team as we use a ‘work’ iPad with a different Apple ID than our personal iPads yet we need to access files on our personal iPads as well. This is a super critical need. Please allow shareable folders. Thanks!

Right now, it appears to be sharing one file at a time. But shared folders that automatically designate their contents as shareable by all who enjoy folder access is a sorely needed feature and almost a fundamental requirement for educational applications.

I agree with the comments below. We are using GoodNotes across the board at work. We need the ability to share a parent parent folder, and all documents or folders under that are automatically shared. All user that have access to that folder can and documents, notebooks, folders eco. to the shared parent folder.

To add to what everyone has shared…I would like the ability to share a parent folder so, 1. All documents within the folder are automatically collaborative and 2. All collaborators can add new documents to the same parent folder.

I either need to be able to share folders with my assistants or I am going to have to find a different program to use. Maybe no one cares since the program was already purchased. But it would be nice to have a pro version and I would be happy to pay extra for it so that I do not have to start with a whole new program.

I would like to be able to share the document/folder with someone without them being able to edit it. I use this in a classroom as I teach, and I'd like students to be able to revisit information which I write. Google Docs has a great function where users could either view only, or have editing rights.
