Usability Problems: Pen/Eraser Confusion and Shape Tool Misinterpretation
Hello Goodnotes Development Team,
This update has caused several inconveniences in use:
The pen and eraser are now grouped under the same category, which makes it difficult to intuitively know whether I’m using the pen or the eraser. I often start writing only to realize nothing appears because it’s in eraser mode. This requires extra attention and disrupts the workflow. I hope the pen and eraser can be separated into different categories again.
It’s great that the shape tool now includes circles and squares, but the original straight line function has become much less usable. For example, when I try to draw a right angle, the corner automatically turns into an arc. When drawing mathematical brackets [ ], they are forced into straight lines or arcs. The same issue happens with parentheses ( ), which are now often misinterpreted as either straight lines or curves with an exaggerated arc. Similarly, when I want to draw symbols like the conjugate “*” or “not equal to ≠”, the diagonal line is automatically corrected into a straight slash, which is not what I intended. It would be better if the new circle and square tools were added while keeping the original shape auto-detection feature intact.
