Feature Request – Batch Import and Automatic Vertical Alignment of Lecture Slides
Subject: Feature Request – Batch Import and Automatic Vertical Alignment of Lecture Slides
I’m a medical student using Goodnotes 7 on an iPad Air M3 with Apple Pencil Pro. I frequently take screenshots of lecture slides and import them into my notebooks to study and annotate.
Currently, importing and organizing multiple screenshots is unnecessarily time-consuming. I have to insert images individually, resize each one, manually align them vertically, and adjust the spacing between slides.
I would like to request a new feature: Batch Image Import with Automatic Vertical Alignment.
The ideal workflow would be:
- Open the Apple Photos app and select multiple screenshots simultaneously.
- Share all selected images directly with Goodnotes.
- Choose an option such as “Import and Auto-Arrange Vertically.”
- Goodnotes automatically inserts the selected images into an existing notebook, in their original order.
- All images are automatically resized to the same width, maintaining their original aspect ratios.
- Images are arranged vertically, one below another, with consistent spacing and margins.
- The user can choose the image width, spacing, and alignment (left, center, or right).
- The layout automatically continues onto subsequent pages when necessary, without cropping or overlapping images.
Most importantly, each image must remain an independent, editable object within Goodnotes.
Users should still be able to select, move, resize, replace, or delete individual slides using the Lasso or selection tools.
The images should NOT be merged into a single image or converted into flattened PDF pages.
It would also be extremely helpful to include a “Distribute Vertically and Equalize Width” function for images that have already been inserted into a notebook.
This would allow students to select multiple existing images and automatically organize them with uniform widths, margins, and spacing.
Why this matters:
Medical students frequently work with dozens or even hundreds of lecture screenshots. Manually resizing and aligning every image wastes valuable study time.
Although Goodnotes already provides object alignment guides, these still require users to position each image individually.
A true automatic layout feature would significantly improve productivity and make Goodnotes much more efficient for lecture-based studying.
Please consider adding this feature in a future Goodnotes 7 update.
