I’m using Goodnotes 7 on an iPad Air M3 with Apple Pencil Pro.
I have configured the Apple Pencil squeeze gesture to switch between the current tool and the previously used tool.
Previously, I could seamlessly switch between the Pen and Lasso tools. However, after recent updates, when I use the Lasso tool to select, move or resize handwriting, Goodnotes automatically activates Hand Selection.
As a result, the Apple Pencil squeeze gesture starts switching between Lasso and Hand Selection instead of Pen and Lasso.

Better combination of handwriting and typing
When taking notes using handwriting and typing with a keyboard case it’s often a struggle to change betweeen the tools.
When the writing tool is selected, I can’t type at all and have to long press on the page to select start typing / edit text. This is very annoying.
The writing mode isn’t very intuitive either. It would be nice to just start typing without clicking many buttons.3 votes -
Make making flashcards as easy as writing notes, i dont want to type
I dont want to tap to edit everytime i want to make a flashcard by pen, i just want to write them then slide to a new one. Its exshauting to tap write save then exit everytime for someone who just wants to write them by pen

Convert Handwritten Photos into Editable Digital Ink
I would love to see a feature that allows users to take a photo of handwritten notes and convert them into fully editable GoodNotes digital ink.
The key difference from importing a photo is that the handwriting itself becomes editable.
How it could work:

Dark Mode for Handwritten Study Set Cards
Currently it is possible to create cards in a study set for both typed and image based cards that are black background with white text. Writing the cards by hand however forces the background to be white.
This is incredibly jarring when I am trying to study and I would very much like to create handwritten cards with a dark background and lighter text.

Math and Scientific symbols with Exponents and Subscripts
As a biology student all of my chemical formulas and math for all my classes has to either be hand drawn or inserted with screenshots from textbooks. I love the combination of being able to write and type, but for simple formulas it would be much easier to just be able to type them. Especially exponents and sub scripts, those would be the most important
Sometimes you can get them to work with copy and paste but then it alters the entire page text alignment with the lines on the page.

share FOLDERS with each other not just specific files or documents. I am a long time user of Goodnotes (about 6/7 years now). I have seen the amazing changes to this platform. However, recently, I received a school iPad and am forced to make a new account. Sharing files from my old account to my new account has been a real hassle. is there a way to share folders across different devices? This would be HUGE game changer.

Update 7.0.3 is re-shaping my closed shapes. And not in a good way.
Sorry, dear Goodnotes team, but sth is not cool with the new update 7.0.3 Whenever I want to draw a closed shape, it makes it all wobbly and creates some kind of text field out of it. What’s happening? How can I make it stop? I don’t need text fields, I use always my handwriting.

Add folder pinning function
As a long-term power user of GoodNotes, I have accumulated a large number of folders on my home page over years of use. Currently, folders can only be sorted by creation date, last modified date, name, or file type. I often spend a great deal of time scrolling to locate my frequently accessed, important folders.
I sincerely hope the development team can add a folder pinning to top feature. This simple function would greatly streamline file navigation and save users ample browsing time.

Handwriting, Swedish and Polish
To add more handwriting languages!! I am a Swedish student that uses digital notetaking on a daily basis, and sure, English is close to our language, but å, ä and ö aren't in the English alphabet; it would greatly help to get Swedish in handwriting and into the app itself!
And since I've seen that zero have been done to get this done, and a lot of people still want languages such as Polish, Swedish, etc., and no updates, GoodNotes focuses too much on the aesthetic of the app instead of the functionality that it's supposed to give to students!…3 votes -
Bring back ability to erase/move shape fillings
Before, you could make a shape with a fill color, and erase the filler separately from the shape outline. Now, you can’t even erase the outline and leave just the filling, or vice versa.

Smart Learn Needs a Daily Card Limit Like Anki
I think Goodnotes Smart Learn seriously needs a daily card limit system similar to Anki.
Right now Smart Learn can become very aggressive with recommendations when you have a huge number of flashcards.
Imagine being a med student with:
- separate study sets for every chapter
- thousands of flashcards
- eventually 20,000–30,000+ total cards
At that scale, unlimited recommendations can become stressful and mentally overwhelming.
I think there should be a feature where users can set:
“Smart Learn can only recommend X cards today”Example:

Swipe to edit flashcards
I need to be able to swipe through the flashcards IN THE EDITOR. I do NOT want to go back to thumbnail view, click on the next card, check if it has an error, go back to thumbnail view, swipe down, click the next card, remember which card I just opened, etc! I don’t want to do this to add a new flashcard either!!!!!

Permanent tab bar
When I have a document open, the tab bar shows a tab for each open document. Also, the Home tab appears on the left in the tab bar. When I click on it, the tab bar with the open documents disappears. To get back to the open documents, I then have to open a document again.
It would be easier if in the Home view (a) the tab bar remained permanently at the top (so that the Home view is just another tab), or (b) there was a shortcut called “Open documents” on the left.

More Line Preset Slots
I would like to be able to have more slots to add different preset lines. Right now, there is only 3 and I need more so that I can have one dedicated to dotted lines as well as different widths because I do not want to sacrifice the three I already have.
