To get rid of the feature that darkens the highlighter color after each stroke
I use the highlighter a lot to fill in diagrams and it would be so much easier if I didn't have to do it in one go. Sine it gets darker when it overlaps, the filled in color is only uniform if my pencil stays on the page the whole time.

Grid view, simplifying outline feature and organization
Functionality:
Using grid view you could import a long PDF sideways while being able to scroll the howl document down. You could name, hide/collapse and do other actions on sections by having a menu on the left and right of the page. Names could be saved in the outline feature.Use cases and benefits:
Grid view could be beneficial if you have a long PDF you import and want to make Notes on a separate page. You could split the screen, but this would be much more time-consuming.
It would also allow to skip a section of a document much…1 vote -
page grid view
I'd like to be able to magnify the Page Grid View, i.e., increase the size of the Pages that I see in the Grid View. Yes, I would see less, but I'd be able to read the multiple pages at once.
It helps me greatly to "see" multiple pages of what I wrote at once wrt to gaining a sense if the story arch I'm going for is there. I dont need to be able to read small words, but I would like to see large print, sketches, and other large objects on a page.

Old features
So, I personally think the app is getting better but, recently the feature that allowed us to draw straight lines, circles, arrows, graphs, etc have changed a little bit. It is less fluent and I can’t do 2 lines that will stick together automatically for example. Which I was able to do in the past. So it is impossible for me now to draw straight arrows or graphs which is quite frustrating because I used to use these features a lot. Now the lines are straight BUT no longer automatically horizontal or vertical you know ? You can maybe add…

remarkable
I bought a Remarkable tablet because I hate writing on the iPad screen. While the Remarkable is a great writing instrument, it has no way to search the text you have written. The Remarkable iPad allows one to share notes with GoodNotes. This works great but unfortunately the imported notes don't have a converted text layer. It would be great if GoodNotes could convert the handwriting of imported Remarkable notes so that a note would become searchable

Automatic switch between dark/light page mode
I like writing on a black paper but then prefer to learn with a white one (also for exporting for my classmates and print). It would be awesome If we could for example set that everything written in white switches to black along with the paper. Bonus If we could set the other colours too.

Fitting cover
I think you should add an option to fit covers to document sizes. I mean that I for example bought a few sets of covers for goodnotes app and even though they all should be in a4 format I just couldn’t get them to fit the regular template size or even the a4 template size. It’s either smaller or bigger than the notebook pages. There is always a difference in size. If Etsy has such a big market for digital content for your app and also different other sites I think you should add an option to make the notebook…

Export highlighted text excerpts
Hi, my feature request is to be able to export highlighted text excerpts. For example, when reading an article or chapter I will highlight important parts. I would love to be able to export the highlighted text bits for later reference. I would like to store them in my personal knowledge management system such as notion, roam or obsidian app. I can then tag and link them to build my second brain, so to speak... Hope this makes sense ;) Anyway, the feature request is “exporting highlighted text excerpts” from OCRed PDFs. Competing apps such as PDFexpert and GoodReader offer…

When converting to PDF, the highlight shoudn’t overlay the text
In the app, highlighters are perfect, they lay behind the text, making it pop, and still doesn’t bother when reading it over again. When I want to convert my notes to share it with others, or printing it, PDF looks the best, sharpest. But after converting it, the highlight lays on top of the note making it less nice, and less readable. Is there any chance that we can still enjoy the notes as nice and sharp, even after converted to a PDF?

A cursor button
A cursor that can be selected so I can move threw the pages with my pencil so that I do not have to use my hand every time I want to swipe up, down, left or right

Add a special highlighter similar to Ankisnap
Add a special highlighter. And a button which can switch the highlighted part to be between transparent and solid black. It can be useful to hide the answer of a question so that it helps people memorise the answer or the important part in a passage. Besides, the answer can also be revealed by using apple pencil while the tip of the pen is near the highlighted answer.

Improvement on Mac typing
By far the biggest let down of GoodNotes is the failure of the drawing coexisting with the typing. Currently, typing is shocking on mac and must be improved to a similar standard to a word processor. This would widen the target market dramatically and improve the service significantly.

Clear multiple pages
I am constantly highlighting e-textbooks on Goodnotes and currently I can only clear one page at a time. It would be fantastic to clear an entire notebook at once for people like me that re-highlight when reading it again.

Quick Menu for fast access to tools
I like how the app Procreate has implemented their Quick Menu. It is fast and easy to pull up. Users can assign their preferred tools to the different slots in the menu. I would love a gesture-activated Quick Menu in GoodNotes. It can speed up my workflow to a great extent. I would enjoy the process more too because I will no longer have to stop to reach for the tool that I want or to go through menu options. The process becomes faster and more intuitive without interfering with my train of thought.

Gestures for Undo & Redo: two finger tap for undo, three finger tap for redo
These gestures are used in the app Procreate and they are very convenient. They make the workflow feel much faster and more fluid. Also, they have become standard gestures for performing the undo & redo functions in many apps.

Auto deselect eraser after using it and automatically switch back to the previous tool
I wish this was an option. I am looking for quicker ways to get to the tools that I need without having to tap on the menu all of the time. It would be really helpful if I was able to quickly switch back to the writing tool after using the eraser.

Different types of fills (patterns & textures) for shapes, such as hatching, cross-hatching, dots of different sizes, dashed & dotted lines
It would be great if we could fill the shapes that we create with more unique fills. Not only will this make the process more creative but it would also make our visuals more understandable.

When typing on lined paper, the text should automatically be aligned to the lines.
This would make things look much more neat.

Open with or Paste the link in GoodNotes for Mac
I really appreciate that there is GoodNotes for Mac as I use both iPad and Mac depending on the context. Quite many times I am reading a research paper on Mac in the browser and if it is interesting I would like to import the PDF in GoodNotes. This requires that I first download the PDF and then drag-drop in the GoodNotes. It would be wonderful to have either a possibility to paste the link/URL to import that document within GoodNotes or a sort of chrome extension that imports it. This way there is no need for the intermediate step…
