1. Landscape paper templates for flashcards

2. Ability to rotate paper

   I love using the Apple Pencil. One nitpick: if we could rotate pages with 2 fingers in any direction it would be great. I tend to write at an angle with page turned slightly clockwise. Having the page be perfectly vertical or horizontal is uncomfortable after a lot of writing. Another app that does this well is Procreate.

6. Organizing notebooks

   In main menu, add "custom" order for notebooks and folders. Add this where it says "name", "date", and "type" on the top of the main menu so you can keep the books in an order you prefer.

   Make folders more customizable, add option to change colors of folders or add designs or icons to folders, similar to notebooks so that it is easier to distinguish folders and find them with ease.

   Add a "folders" section to display only folders on the righthand side of the main menu page where it displays "documents" and "favorites". It would also be helpful to add each folder to this option to select each folder with ease.

   Add a dropdown for folders so you can view its documents without having to enter a second page with the folders documents. This way you can see everything from the main menu and it makes it easier and quicker to find and stay organized if you could expand/minimize the folder.
   This could be done in a cascading style when in the list form with a little arrow.
   In the block form you could have a folder open with an arrow revealing a sub section block. I believe this is called something like a collapsable mega menu for mobile devices.
   You could also do a preview of the folder when you scroll over a folder, which would work on devices with a mouse, or you could use the "hard tap" function with pressure sensing devices.

   Add merge/combine/insert/move entire notebooks or documents from the main menu so you don't have to move them page by page.

   Add a hyperlink option so you can insert and view a document page in another document. If you click on it you could also add a href to go directly to that notebook/document from where you are. This would be super useful when organizing a lot of information.

   Make a ability to hyperlink sections directly to a page. This would come in handy when you have the calendar or notes and you could add like a sticky note icon or something that would direct you to the page it referenced on another page/tab. For example if you have "assignment" due on specific date and add a hyperlink icon it would take you to "assignment" you have referenced on another page.

   When making idea boards of you could have the images, sections, or words have an ability to hyperlink so you can go directly to page from app.

   When importing/pasting text add a "clear formatting" option to get rid of background color so it inserts nicely, currently you cannot even get rid of background text color.

   Make it possible to editable text like a .docx or .doc, not just .pdf.

   When importing a editable text, make it so you can edit the document itself without having to typeover it as though it is the background of the page. import the text itself.

   Add a document section to make "word" type documents so it can be used for work and school to submit work without having to use multiple apps.

   Make ability to import styles or presets from other people.

   Make "shared" documents/notebooks/folders so you can collaborate with other people with the app.

9. Color Select Crop ("Magic Wand")

   Make it possible to "Magic Wand"-select a color that you need to crop away on a picture, so that you're left with only the image on the page, no white borders around it. (The same way it can be done in Photoshop or even Apple's Pages & Keynote)

   e.g. Red dot on white square picture, becomes only the red dot that I can freely move around in GoodNotes, without hiding text behind the white border.

10. Automatic "To Do List"

    This was also listed under "Automatic Action Item" back in 08/19 - but I think it should be considered.

    I have many notebooks (one for each customer). I want the ability to mark written text as an "Action Item" in any notebook (Use the "lariat" tool?) and they automatically get added to an "Action Items" notebook so they are all in one place.

    Each item is listed under a separate bullet and can be deleted once completed.

    Having the option once lassoed to create a calendar reminder / update would be nice, but probably far-reaching at this point.

11. Easy Pen Picker

    Imagine you already wrote 5 different combinations on the same page. Color, thickness, pen style.

    I'm thinking of a "picker" button on the left edge which I can press & hold with my finger. (enabling picker mode until I lift my finger)

    When I tap the pen on the document, a zoomed hover-view shows up, I drag onto the pen stroke I want to reuse & lift off both my pen and finger.

    Simple & useful.

    But now when I want to write a title after a black simple text, I have to click red color, increase the thickness, change the pen style to brush. And after writing the title, I repeat the same process for the simple text. Black, thin, ball pen.

12. Handwriting bold?(thickness?) control

    First of all, i'm not good at English.

    When I enlarge my handwriting, it also get bolder.
    I want to make it only bigger, not bolder.

    My suggestion is to change the boldness? of my handwriting (like notability)

15. Magnifying Glass/ Reading tool

    I have recently begun using the desktop version a lot more since my 4-year-old has effectively stolen my iPad. I love that I can use the app seamlessly between my devices. However, I have noticed that it is difficult for me, especially when using two windows of GoodNotes, to maintain a natural reading experience. I'm trying to take notes while reading a PDF imported to GoodNotes on the left and have my note-taking notebook open in a window on the right.

    I would love a tool that allowed users to place their cursor within the text of a document and activate a type of magnifying glass. Possibly with a timer so that it automatically moved at a pace that the user has the ability to set so that one could read their information and then pause and type in notes when desired.

    Having to zoom in and then move along the page then try to keep your place when notetaking then back to reading... it feels too cumbersome to me.

    First world problem? Maybe. Way to simplify my life and elevate GoodNotes to an even high level for me? DEFINITELY!

16. Kickstarter-like user pledges of $$$ to fund new feature development

    I love that users can propose new functionality and vote on others’ suggestions.

    What if users who are really keen on seeing certain projects get up, could also pledge $$ to help fund development of specific features?

    It would be a way of us putting our money where our mouths are. If lots of users really want to see a feature, and if we all throw in even a dollar or two behind that feature, then this could give you the resources to pay for hiring developers to implement that idea.

    You could even offer an Incentive Scheme — that those users who pledge (I don’t know, what’s a reasonable amount?) $20 or more towards features they’d like to seee implemented, will receive a free upgrade when the next full-version paid update of GoodNotes is released. After all, the money they would have pledged is what would have helped to implement the features present in the version.)

    This way, even if the money I’ve pledged towards different features only sees some of my features implemented, I would still benefit since now I’d have access to a free update.

    And if I’m lucky enough that others also pledge money for the same features that I pledge money for, that would hopefully give you lovely folks at GoodNotes reason to prioritise implementing these features, and again I’d be super happy to see the features we really want coming out sooner.

    Would anybody else here be prepared to pledge a few bucks towards the ideas they’d like to see implemented as new features?

17. altering the size (dimensions) of pages in documents by adding space or cropping

    I like to annotate the articles I read with scribbles, notes, sketches, etc.

    So when I find an interesting story, rather than reading the online version, I screenshot it on my iPad, and then select the option to save the whole page as one long single-page PDF, rather than just saving the PNG of the screenshotted image.

    Ufortunatly, on some web pages this doesn’t capture the whole page, an so the last few paragaphs might be missing.

    Here’s what I’d like to be able to do when that happens.

    First, take screenshots of the material that’s missing and save these PNGs into the iPad’s photo album.

    Then, with the incomplete PDFs open in GoodNotes, I’d like to add more white-space at the bottom of the document — effectively, the reverse of when you crop an article, since I’d be dragging the current crop marks from the bottom further downwards to create fresh empty space using the same colour as the colour of the page that I’m extending. (Or maybe to have a dialogue that asks by how much longer or wider I’d like to make the document, and whether I want to add this extra real estate on all four sides, or just on the indicated sides — in the example I’m giving, I’d be adding real estate at the bottom of the page).

    Finally, once I have this extra real estate on the page, I could paste on the screenshot images I took of the missing material, to ensure that the whole document is there, and that it is rendered in the original font (which it would be, since they’re screenshots).

    I encounter this problem very often, and it would be awesome of GoodNotes had the functionality to expand the size of PDF document pages.

    As another user mentioned (and I’ll give their request a thumbs up in a minute), page CROPPING would also be so helpful.

    Thanks for listening, for the single product I use most on my iPad (I effectively almost live out of GoodNotes, including live lecture presentations with a connection to an overhead projector, etc). And, naturally to read all the articles. :)

20. More brush/pen styles + let users use procreate brushes on app

    I have several realistic brushes for procreate such as muji pen and 6B pencil and i believe it would give potential customers more incentive to use GoodNotes if they were able to write with a realistic handwriting or change the style of their pen. This increased customisation would result in a better ability to feel like you truly are studying. Please do add it in as I have taken to writing on procreate and importing it into GoodNotes and it is a rather inconvenient process/ situation that GoodNotes is well capable of improving to their benefit.
