Double-Page View / Split View / Side-by-side View
As a professional musician, GoodNotes is almost perfect for viewing and marking up sheet music both during rehearsals and performances! In my circle of friends and colleagues, GoodNotes is really becoming our go-to app! We unanimously agree that the only feature that is missing for viewing sheet music is the ability to view two pages at once (like an open book or in Mac's Preview "double-page viewing"). Is it possible that I'm just not seeing this feature?

Weāre excited to announce that we have completed this feature. It is now available in the update GoodNotes 5.3 for iPadOS (13.1).
With the update, we added full support for iPadOSā multiple windows. It lets you do much more than viewing two documents side by side. To read everything you need to know about opening multiple documents, please visit goodnotes.com/ipad-os.
How to open a new window:
You can now open GoodNotes in multiple windows to view two documents side by side, view two pages of the same document in Split View, or pair it with other apps in spaces across your entire system. To open a new window, drag any of the elements listed below to the side of your screen:
- the app icon from the dock
- documents from the library
- folders from the library
- individual pages from the document thumbnail view
- tabs from the tab-bar
You can also use the buttons in the library action menu or from the tab-bar to open a new window.

Unlike tablets, PC screens are large and horizontally long, so if you only display one page, there will be a lot of gaps on the screen.
Therefore, I would like to have a mode that allows me to display pages in two-page spreads and view multiple pages at once.

We can keep each page as its own individual file but make it so we can view our notebook/planner as a book. I would love to see that option so I can see two of my pages side by side like a physical book.

Hi. I study in a music University in Germany and I am constantly hearing from colleagues the same complaint. We would really like the book view in order to to have quick and easy acces to different parts in our scoresas well as to focus more on what is actualy on the paper rather than scrolling. This means adding the option to view 1-2, or 2-3 (see first odd/even numbered pages).
I am sure many colleagues around the world have the same issue, and so
It is a shame that such a good note taking app lacks of such an useful feature. -

I would agree, it's almost critical to have a 2 page view, would open up many more use cases. The comment from the moderator does not resolve the issue

Great Idea! I have used GN4 for a long time parallel to GN5 because in GN4 the slides created with beamer appeared just as the should.
With GN5 it is a real pain to look at the horizontal scrolling! -

I Have to agree with all the comments below. Please integrate a double-page view!

View and edit multiple pages (1, 2, or 4, like a printed pdf) at once

It's been YEARS and they still can't add this feature on.

Running 2 apps separately doesn't help much in using this app
What really helps with using this app is seeing two pages in one app, like reading a book.
All users want this feature, and other apps already support it. Even free apps
The GoodNotes app is a paid app. Please quickly update this function that users need in real life

Please create a function that allows you to view two pages together in one document file, not separating them into two windows.

Hi, I also created an account just to vote for the 2-page spread (not 2 separate windows with one page in each window).
Iām using a digital pdf 2023 diary this year in an effort to not have to physically print it and have another book to store that I have no space for, but I had to look for this feature that sadly doesnāt exist yet as I canāt see my calendar spread in its entirety.
This function exists in Adobe acrobat as 2 page view so Iām not certain why itās so hard to imagine. Anyways hopefully they introduce it soon seeing as there are so many people who want it. At least in horizontal view! -

I would like this feature for using with choir music. Using GoodNotes allows me to mark up my music with the director's instructions while using it to sing from. You just need to be able to see two pages at once.

Thought I might as well add my comment as this feature still hasnāt been implemented.
Not only is this feature useful for sheet music or just viewing multiple pages at once/scrolling through a notebook or document with ease, it also makes the content youāre working on seem more like a real book.
At the moment I feel stuck with Goodnotes (or really any note-taking software) because I can rarely see much information whilst Iām trying to look through something. For example Iām hesitant to compile a digital cookbook rather than a physical one as itās just more difficult to flip through and look at everything all at once.
I feel like this feature would be so simple to implement yet impactful and definitely different to multiple-window-viewing. Please Goodnotes, implement this feature.

In response to the āTry Thisā feel like the two windows would be clunky, versus just allowing it to be an option. Hope your suggestion comes to fruition, youāve got my vote.

So double page view is just a dream soā¦.
I saw tens of topic request this. And the team always suggest to do a double split view

Pitchayut Panpattrapong commented
Are the staffs really think that the same things.
Seriously?
Double page view is different from split-viewing 2 single page, you know that right? Right!? -

Adding a request for side by side page view, like a regular book. Side by side window view is way too much work for regular viewing (you basically would have to turn pages twice). Please implement a real feature!

Please donāt say you implemented this when clearly you didnāt. Weād like two pages side by side like a book. Not two windows like two books.

We need a book like view format. For eg. we would like to see the current and the next page of a document at once. Like a physical book

There is no reason to consider two-page view impossible. It absolutely isnāt. Window-view is not the same thing and doesnāt solve the problem. In landscape mode, most of the screen is wasted space. Please let us see two portrait-pages at once in landscape mode.
