Optimize battery usage of GoodNotes
Goodnotes is a huge battery drainer, so I hope the next up date will optimize the app resources so it uses less power

We’re investigating the battery drain that happens for some users already.

Still bad today. Using Goodnotes heavily for training notes, started the day (9:30) with a 100% battery, currently 12:10 and down to 42%. Goodnotes is showing as 32% battery usage. It hasn't even been constantly on!

I run a company with about 50 employees, and all of the employees have been given an iPad to use & we used to officially recommend Goodnotes for a while. But, everyone started complaining about battery life after they started using this app. The battery drain is equivalent to a rich graphics 3D game like Asphalt 8, which is just insane. Even my new iPad lasts just 4 to 5 hours when using Goodnotes, which is fatal. Now, we have decided to stop recommending this app and instead will be shifting to notability. And I have made it a point to let every company with which I have professional relationship know of the hazardous impact of using Goodnotes for note taking, and 3 companies which used to use Goodnotes ( a total of about 1000 people) have had to give up using it, following their own bad experiences and my advice. A company which cannot solve this criitical & fatal flaw despite many complaints over the years cannot be trusted. If Goodnotes someday do resolve the issues then many of us might think about switching, but I dont think thats coming anytime in the near future. Because the way the situation is right now, Goodnotes definitely doesn’t care. Sad, that such a capable app ended up like this.

I would have to agree. Not only is it a battery drain but it causes the iPAD to heat up. There is huge increase in the iPAD heat once to you start the GoodNotes app. I have always thought the heat increase to be concerning.

Chiming in here. I'm a power user and am considering alternatives.

Hello Goodnotes. Are you sorting out the battery drain issue? Paid good money for this. Like the app but a real no-go with the drain issue.

This is becoming so annoying that I will soon start looking for another app even if really like using Good Notes

It's March 2017, and this is still a big issue.
I love the simplicity of the app compared to other note apps, but even when not in active use, it kills the battery.

I had been singing the praises of GoodNotes... it's a fantastic app that made a huge difference in my work. HOWEVER, I discovered that it's killing my iPad pro (9.7") battery life. Unfortunately, this shortcoming is a major (fatal?) flaw with the app, which has me considering alternatives and warning others away from GoodNotes. I don't understand why this kind of app would have this problem. Please take these comments seriously and fix the app.

I agree. GoodNotes is a wonderful functional app but I have just used up a 100% charge (on a brand new IPAD Pro 9.7) in less than 7 hours in the office. I was note taking but not all day. Will have to seriously consider alternative packages unless I understand what is causing this and when it is likely to be fixed or how I can preserve battery.

It's 2016 and it's still an issue with power drain. Can the company explain why?

Love the app, but +1 on the battery drain. Hope this can be improved.

considering the type of app it is, not very CPU intensive or heavy calculations, I used my iPad Air 2 with GoodNotes4 and after 4.5 hours my iPad is dead.
How does this happen?

Totally agree. Love the app, but I would fear using this on something other than the iPad Pro 12.9. The iPad becomes physically warm when using GoodNotes and I can watch the battery tick down steadily. Looks like this was first reported a while ago, so I'm a little concerned it is still an issue. Hopefully you'll be able to prioritize this.
