Variable Page Length
Allow pages to be variable length so that ideas and content can be organized and not limited to print sizes. I use the cornell notes template, and often use the que and summary section to cram in more notes of similar ideas to keep it all together, which is counterproductive in a digital format. Google Docs has pageless scrolling, which is similar, but I do like the notebook format of page breaks when I want a new concept/idea.

Backup for Pen/highlight Colors
I recently had to delete and re-download the app because of a bug issue and lost all of my saved colors. It would be awesome if there is a way to save or back up pen and highlight colors so that you don’t have to reprogram them when re-downloading the app.

Problems with highlighting notes in a text box
Whenever you use the textbox tool and type notes, its very difficult to highlight the text. It never works like you would intend it to, and it takes multiple attempts to highlight a portion (either by double clicking or clicking and dragging) of the sentence or paragraph that you might want to bolden. Please make it so that its fluid and doesn't take a lot of attempts to highlight textbox notes.

Option to undo closed tab and pin certain open documents
I have two similar requests:
I am a private tutor so I usually have a couple of standard documents open on my iPad all the time (e.g. PDF of the periodic table). When I close the app (not minimise) or when I press the x button by mistake, I need to re locate it in my folders. I know I can 'favourite' it but it would be so much easier if there is an option to pin it (sort of like in Safari/other web browsers where you can pin open windows). That way it will always open when I open…

Larger previews in miniature mode
A function where you can enlargen the miniatures in the miniature view mode would be handy. That way it is easier to find the correct page which you are looking for.
Perhaps through a preview mode for the individual pages, or better: a setting to see the pages in different patterns e.g. 3 pages next to each other, 2 pages next to each other or single page.
This would come especially handy for flashcards as well, as those are very hard to organise in the miniature mode.

Scroll to current page in Miniature View
As of now, when you open the Miniature View of a Notebook, the pages are shown from the very start.
I suggest an option to either show the current page first or a button/option to auto-scroll to the current page.
Whenever I work with 300+ flashcards and just want to change the order of a card in the miniature view, I have to scroll a long time to find the current card which I am looking for. It's also very easy to miss when you have a large amount of cards/pages, since you only have the thin blue lining of…

Whiteboard mode
Hi,
I’m using a lot goodnotes for math textbook etc…
And when reading those books I create whiteboard for each book wich becomes very messy with time and this is my idea. When the use wants to have a « whiteboard » for the current textbook it creates a whiteboard attached to the book and you can access it only by the book1 vote -
Sync Cached Search Index Across Devices
The Current Bottleneck
Currently, managing a large library across multiple devices introduces a significant friction point: local search indexing.
- The Waiting Game: Opening Goodnotes on a secondary device or setting up a brand-new device requires a lengthy indexing process for all changed or new documents.
- Resource Drain: While downloading the actual PDFs and notes takes time, forcing every individual device to build its own search index from scratch is incredibly inefficient. It consumes massive amounts of battery life and CPU power.
- Screen Time: To make matters worse, the app must remain actively open on the screen until this indexing completes,…

Recognize and Change Shorthand
A feature like preferences in Google Docs where we can set certain terms / symbols to be recognized auto changed to whatever you want , i.e. you can set “w/o” to be auto changed to “without.”
If not automatically, then be given the option for it to be changed (similarly to the way spellcheck words).

Turbo sync on same account
I would like to edit a notebook on my Mac and iPad at the same time using Turbo Sync for minimal lag. That way I can use the full size keyboard on my Mac, drop in screenshots from my Mac, and then annotate or draw figures with the Apple Pencil. I was ready to pay for 2 subscriptions to pull this off but because they would both be associated with the same Apple ID it did not work.

[Apple Watch] Allow Recording from Watch
Please link with the Apple Watch to allow users to record audio/meetings from the watch and then access ai summaries and view notes on other Apple devices. This would make it far less intrusive then recoding with the phone.

[Lock Objects] Add Lock Icon to the Primary Object Menu
Please include a lock function/icon in the primary image click hover menu.
And/or even more functionality to be able to “pin” tools nested in the ellipsis (overflow menu) to this primary hover menu permanently as specified by user.
This would save several inputs in order to lock elements, similar to how (once locked) the hover menu populates with a rapid unlock image icon.
Please & thanks.

Permanent laserpointer dot following the handwriting pen
Whenever you are writing on an already somewhat full page (be it in a classroom setting or in a video that you might publish), it would be very helpful to have a visual indicator to tell the viewer WHERE you are writing. Especially if you have to jump between several places on the page, this makes it much easier to follow.
I would therefore like to see an option where the already exisiting dot laserpointer can be turned on to follow the pen for heightened visibilty.

Please enable the Zoom In / Zoom Out options on the MacOS Desktop App
By default, macOS allows us to use 'Command +' to zoom in and 'Command -' to zoom out of any app. This seems to be disabled on the Goodnotes app. Please try to enable this, it helps a ton on scaled displays.

Half-Page Turn
I Guarantee you this will make your app 3x more appealing to performing musicians. I use Goodnotes for ALL my score studying but I always need to export to Piascore or Forscore for my performances just because of their half-page turn feature. I’ve been doing this for a couple of years now but the jumping between apps has becoming really tiring. I’m begging you, please add this feature to the read mode.

Toolbar Default Pen Setting
"Currently, Goodnotes does not have a specific feature that automatically sets the toolbar to start on the Pen tool when switching between files. The Pen tool is the first tool in the Handwriting Toolbar and can be selected manually, but the app does not remember or default to the Pen tool automatically upon file switching," Goodnotes Support.
It would be great if a toolbar customization update allowed you to make the pen feature the default tool when switching between documents instead of the lasso.

Floating sticky notes in margins
l want to request sticky notes or comments that can be in the margins or in the sidebar, independent of being linked to a single page. Imagine having a sticky note on your desk with reminders or instructions that you put next to your notebook. in this particular context, I want to have the instructions for an assignment posted outside of the page that I can refer to at any point to make sure I’m on the right track.

Please make the vertical scrolling smoother.
It is clanky and feels like it has friction for every page. It really kills the experience.
Also it would be a lot better if you could make the pages continuous when scrolling vertically like in Notability.1 vote -
Connect playback to what was drawn
You should be able to click a recording, and it take you the page where it was made, and say you went over different pages while make the recording and drew things on the different pages, as the recording is going, it should take you to those pages
Inversely, if you drew something while making a recording, there should be a view where you can easily see what things you drew during a a recording vs just drew normally
ALSO, crucially:
I might be reading a several hundred page book, and I have my thoughts on a certain paragraph that…1 vote
