1. Audio recordings improvement for new Update

   The new update is not user-friendly at all. The toolbar is difficult to use, and this is especially evident in the audio recording feature. When you start recording, a separate window appears outside the toolbar, taking up screen space and getting in the way. In the previous version, recording was indicated only by a small discreet icon in the toolbar, so writing wasn’t interrupted.
   In addition, when you play back the recording, every time you want to stop it and play it again, another unnecessary panel pops up on the left side of the screen, making the process time-consuming.

   Overall, I’m really disappointed with the new update—to the point that I’m considering switching apps, even though I’ve been using this one daily for two years.

2. Auto-add date and folder name when creating new files

   It would be really helpful if, when creating a new notebook or whiteboard, GoodNotes could automatically include the current date (e.g. “September 1, 2025”) and optionally the name of the folder (e.g. “NameFolder – September 1, 2025”) in the file name.
   This would greatly improve file organization, especially for users who create many documents daily (like teachers) and want to keep everything tidy without having to rename files manually.

3. less submenus

   Many functions you have placed in submenus could easily fit into their respective window headers, toolbars etc. - thereby becoming more obvious and faster/easier to access.
   examples:

   1) The filter for bookmarked pages in the page browser is now the single item in a submenu. Unnecessary - there is easily enough room for 4 tabs - even when viewed as sidebar and in portrait orientation. img_0387

   2) Select pages and sidebar/popup toggle hide behind a 3 dots menu in the page browser. Why? There is enough room there to show these directly. Esp. if you implement the toggle as one button that changes it‘s icon accordingly. img_0385

   3) The auto advance setting for the writing zoom window ist hidden 2 levels deep in the document settings. This setting is very situational (columns, tables, equations vs plain text) and has to be easily accessible - either directly in the zoom window toolbar or at the very least in the 3dots submenu that‘s already there and has only 2 entries! img_0386

   4) In the document browser the „select items“ button is again hidden in a submenu, and even worse in one that is meant for viewing and sorting options. This needs to become top lvl accessible.
   Also atm this menu bar scrolls out of view. It should stay on top/visible when scrolling down. It is absolutely aggravating to have to scroll all the way up to the top and then down again just to select documents that are further down. img_0388

   5) Also in the document bowser: the filtering to show „documents only“, „folders only“ , and „all“ is clearly a viewing option. I think we don’t need a second submenu for this in the same menu bar. Why not place this as an additional options group in the other viewing submenu (with the grid icon) and place this icon on the left instead. ( Where the viewing/filtering options for pages in the page browser of the document editor are situated as well) img_0388

   I love that you steadily move to icon based menus. For me as a daily user this is faster, easier to grasp at a glance and screen space saving. Thank you for reworking this whole ui und steadily improving still.

4. Handwriting to text capitalization issue

   Before the last major update, I never had issues with handwriting to text conversion capitalizing the first letter of the first word of the first sentence. Since the update, I have to rewrite the word (sometimes twice) to get it to recognize it's the beginning of a paragraph. Don't seem to have the issue once the first sentence is completed. This is time-consuming and frustrating, so a fix would be much appreciated.

5. [Integration] Numbers, MS Excel

   I think it would be an excellent feature to have a seamless integration of numbers or excel with Goodnotes. Basically the idea would be to connect a spreadsheet with your notes in order to be able to insert Numbers' or Excel's tables and plots that can be dynamically updated every time you modify the spreadsheet.

6. Hope you can change back to the previous design for the tool, recording and save my fav's setting

   Hi, I'm an iPad user. The new design is currently very inconvenient to use. The floating design of the writing toolbar feels awkward and cramped. Moreover, bugs occur when switching to other tools. The recording tool occupies too much space, and the large, noticeable logo during recording makes me feel unsafe. Additionally, having to open the toolbar to record is very troublesome. After clicking to record, switching to check slides is cumbersome because it requires multiple clicks. To bookmark important slides quickly, you must first open the tool list, then add them, which is very inconvenient. I really hope it can return to the previous design or be further improved and optimised!

   With the new update, it seems that the it is difficult to draw normal straight lines with the draw and hold. Now, it draws a bit of a straight line and then starts another line. Before, I could draw a line and adjust the end point. Now it seems that it just starts an alternate line. Additionally, if line is too short, it makes a twisted circle shape…

8. [AI] Hide ‘Answer is ready’ Banner

   There’s a phrase ‘Answer is ready’ before name of the file,
   it made me can’t see the name of the file and I have to open all of that to find the file I want to use, so I suggest to add an option to close that phrase for more comfortable in use of Goodnotes.

9. Missing text features in goodnotes 7

   In GoodNotes 7 it is no longer possible to set a default text style, and text backgrounds are missing. Both features existed in GoodNotes 6 and are essential for my work (e.g. creating assignments, official documents). Please clarify: is this a bug that will be fixed, or a deliberate design decision that will remain?

10. OCR for Inserted Images and Imported PDFs

    It would be incredibly useful if Goodnotes could apply OCR to both inserted images and imported PDFs. This would allow users to search, highlight, and copy text from all types of study materials.

11. upgrade to comment section

    comment section in goodnotes is very limited
    Trust me majority of goodnotes users are medical students and they uses goodnotes for books mostle sometime for new notes
    so when you read and highlight premade books and pdf there is very little space for adding new points and pictures
    i want goodnotes team to upgrade the comment section so you can add pdf or pictures to the comment section and enable highlighting in comment section and when comment section popups on clicking on it it should be more larger windows so people can read the pdf/pictures/direct text with hightlights more easily
    I mean that you should reorganize the comment section for a greater purpose and believe me it will attract 500% new users especially medical students

12. insert Audio Record into Note

    GoodNotes is great, and I really like the audio recording feature. However, right now, recordings are only displayed as a list within the note, and their names are set by default and cannot be customized. This makes it hard to associate specific recordings with the content of the notes. My lecture notes are often very long (over 300 pages), and after some time, I have no idea which recording corresponds to which section of the notes. I hope GoodNotes can support a feature where a recording can be dragged or inserted directly into the document and displayed as an icon or marker within the page. By clicking this icon, the corresponding recording would play.

    GoodNotes is great, and I really like the audio recording feature. 13. Implement Apple's Stroke Prediction for Best Pencil Latency

    Owning an iPad Pro with an OLED screen with fantastic pixel response, I can't but go back to Apple Notes to enjoy the note taking experience with almost no perceivable latency and instant real-life note taking experience.

    Unfortunately GoodNotes 6 has a noticeable latency that can be eliminated if the team can implement the same algorithms used in Apple Notes app.

    To repreduce this you can draw a straight line on a blank page from the bottom of the iPad to the top, you'll see a gap on GoodNotes 6 between the tip of the pencil and the line as you're drawing it. There's no gap seen when done on the Notes app.

    GoodNotes team, please allow stroke prediction toggle or whatever improved PencilKit magic that Apple is using in their OS. Thanks!

14. Timer in presentation mode

    I’m using goodnotes in my class to teach and like to make the timer visible in de presentation mode. This way students can see how much time they for a certain practice. Can this be done?

15. Math LATEX conversion from TEXT

    Since you have added math conversion. Would it be great if the text can also use the latex code and then convert it immediately? Especially if you are typing on keyboards. You just want to type the math notation in latex code rather than using apple pencil and then convert it one by one....

16. "Battery saver mode" and "Performance mode" in GoodNotes for iPad

    I noticed that my iPad battery gets drained very quickly when I use Goodnotes. It would be great if the Goodnotes team could introduce the features of "Battery saver mode" and "Performance mode" so that it won't consume a lot of battery when I don't need peak performance.

    Also, it would be even great to have to GoodNotes team decrease the overall battery consumption of app without introducing those 2 features :)

17. Transcription to IPad 10th Gen

    Many college students are recommended to buy iPad 10th generation due to its ability to write notes. However, while writing notes you may miss something, so we go to the transcription bar but nothing is transcribing while we record the lecture. The transcription with audio upgrade should be added to the iPad 10th generation model due to the wide population usage of the app on that specific version of the iPad.

18. Image Generation Tool integrated in GoodNotes 6

    It would be great to integrate an image-generating tool into GoodNotes 6, like shown in the picture. For Example, this feature would allow students to express their ideas more creatively by generating unique images that complement their written content. It would be also great for presenting their written things in class with matching pictures to the topic.

19. Element/ Sticker Search Bar

    A search bar when you select the “Element” tool so you can search for specific types of sticker. Ex: “Check mark” or “Red Book”. I have a few huge sticker packs and it takes forever trying to find a specific sticker.

20. [Tape] Enable Tape in Study Sets

    Enable the ‚Tape‘ tool for study sets as well. It is super helpful but can currently not be used in practice mode, the option to make the tape transparent does not work there.
