  1. To be able to organise pages into sub folders 'within' each notebook would be very useful.

In GoodNotes 5 we implemented the option to create infinite subfolders to replace the concept of “categories” in GoodNotes 4. Consider using multiple documents in a subfolders instead of adding everything to one notebook. If you want to further divide your notebook internally, you can use bookmarks or custom outlines to label your pages.

  2. Goodnotes is a huge battery drainer, so I hope the next up date will optimize the app resources so it uses less power

  3. I use GoodNotes to take notes during lectures but I also do a lot of my homework in this app. I wish I could at least perform some basic math calculations without leaving the app. Right now, if I want to do any calculations for math class or some other class, I need to leave the app in order to do a Google search or I have to use my phone to do it.

It would be helpful if I could write out the problems with the Apple Pencil and GoodNotes would be able to help me perform some basic…

Thanks for sharing your feedback. Would it work for you to open a calculator app as a slide over app and then just swipe it in from the side when it is needed? You won’t have to leave GoodNotes for it and you can easily make some quick calculations.

  4. Be able to record session (voice and desktop), to broadcast a lesson or presentation. Like in explain everything...but GoodNotes is better!

  6. Much like the writing magnifier, except it will convert your written words in that window in real time onto the page as typeface text.

At the moment, there isn’t enough detail for us to clearly understand what you’re proposing, which makes it difficult to take action on your idea.

  11. Since ios 13 the notes app with apple pencil has less latency, going to goodnotes again seems so slow in comparison

The Apple Pencil latency is also down to 9ms in GoodNotes. However, GoodNotes doesn’t use “stroke prediction” which will make the line look “slower” than in Apple Notes when drawing longer lines quickly. It won’t affect the usual writing experience. Do you notice a higher latency when you’re writing as well?

  12. I would love to see a feature where you can screen record yourself writing/drawing a section of your notes, having it save as a gif and then can be replayed anytime within the notes page. Like having small animations embedded within your own notes (resizable and movable like a mini-player), creating more dynamic pages.

  13. A button with which I can close every opened document and even the last open window at once would be very great because sometimes I find it quite annoying when I open GoodNotes and when opening a document the last one ist still opened in an other window.
I would be very happy with a new feature like this.
Maybe it would be possible to do it like this:
if you hold the go back button (with which i can go out of the opened document viewer) a button appears which says something like: close all windows
    Thank you already…

Thanks for the feedback. In the meantime, you can try the following:

In GoodNotes > Menu > Settings > Document Editing, disable the option to “Always open documents as new tabs”.

If this is disabled, new documents won’t be opened as new tabs all the time. Instead, you can only open one document at a time, or use the option to “open in a new tab” from the action menu. Tap on the down arrow next to the notebook thumbnail in the library to open the action menu.

  14. The ability to insert larger pages where required. I see from a previous response that continuos pages aren't an option for various good reasons. However, the ability to have larger pages that you can scroll around, zoom in, zoom out on would be useful. There are times when you need to put a lot of information on one page.

  15. Goodnotes uses two rows of tools, which is takes up too much screen real estate, especially in landscape mode. This means I cannot use Goodnotes for teaching, which is what I got it for. (It's a shame, because Goodnotes is otherwise well suited for teaching.) It would be great if you could compact to a single row of tools (or even zero), to get more writing area.

  16. I am sure I'm not the only one who have asked for this in the past, but I will ask for it once again (not hoping for much though, since 2 years passed since I first asked for it -others too as I said- and nothing has been done).

ADD NEW PENS! This is handwriting note taking app! Pens have been the same since GN4! Oh, don't tell me that the "brush pen" you added in the horrible GN5 is an addition! It does nothing! How about looking at other note taking apps to see the variety of pens they…

We’re sorry to hear about the negative experiences you have with GoodNotes 5 and are thankful that you took the time to write such lengthy and detailed feedback.
We’re optimizing the ink algorithm continuously and haven’t heard many complaints about the smoothness in recent times so we’d like to take a closer look at your case. Would you be able to share a comparison video of how it looks like when you write in GoodNotes 4 vs GoodNotes 5 to support@goodnotes.com? That will be very helpful for us. Please refer to this review, so that we know it is you.

  17. Can you add a threshold setting for Apple Pencil sensitivity? That way it would ignore the pencil if there wasn't enough pressure applied to the screen. It would really help people who accidentally link letters together while writing in a print/cursive mix.

I imagine a slider setting somewhere that you can move about and pick the threshold thats best for you.

Currently all of my writing jumbles terribly since all contact is recorded, unlike writing with a pencil on paper where very light touches are barely visible.

  18. Have a feature that summarise what is written at the end of the day to revise or recap the important ideas across different notebooks. Show "card-like" pages sorted by different notes/folder. A good way to review what we've learn and to slows down forgetting curve.

  19. Hello, it would be interesting to be able to open GoodNotes in reading mode rather than in editing mode. I noticed that often, when I want to consult a note, I make a lot of barbel on the first page because I try to scroll through the pages. Maybe just put this option in the settings for those who are not interested. Thank you

  20. It would be helpful, if there would be a checkbox to switch the export of the handwriting notes on or off.
I often create a presentation in GN. To publish only the slides with the pictures, text boxes etc. but without my handwriting speaknotes, this option would be very nice. Until now, I have to create two documents. One with the handwriting notes and one without my marks.

Did we understand it correctly, that the option to “exclude” annotation in the export option won’t be suitable for you because you want the exported document to include text boxes and/or images but no handwriting?
