Optimize battery usage of GoodNotes
Goodnotes is a huge battery drainer, so I hope the next up date will optimize the app resources so it uses less power
We’re investigating the battery drain that happens for some users already.

Their creation had a texture that was smoother, creamier, and less icy than traditional hard-packed ice cream. https://dqfanfeedback.site/

You're definitely not alone in finding Goodnotes to be a battery drainer! Many users, across various iPad and even Mac models, have reported significant battery consumption and even device heating when using the app, sometimes even when it's just idling in the background. https://www-dqfanfeedback.com

I have a new Ipad Air 13 M2 and my battery drains very fast using Goodnotes and my Apple Pencil Pro. It charged to 80% (using this setting to save battery life) 1t 12pm and by 5:21pm Ipad battery is at 35%.

I lost 10% of my battery in less than an hour with it just idling on the the app. Love the app! Ideally just make it not use the CPU (or minimal outside of cloud sync and such) when it’s not being interacted with.

First of all, thanks for making a great product. I can only begin to imagine all the hard work and thought that goes into this app.
Now, in terms of battery, I assume it is important to you to keep adding features but please consider leaving a way for users to disable these additional features in favor of a simplified UI, a streamlined UX, and most definitely a longer lasting battery. Some of us just need an experience as close to pen and paper as possible. -

How has this been an ongoing issue since 2014?!
GoodNotes, get on top of this as a priority please.
It’s absurd that this app uses so much battery even on a 2022 M1 iPad.I can run adobe on here with less battery usage. Please get dev team to solve this and have it displayed as a pop up feature when you do so we can all celebrate.

Maybe you could add an option to only index pages when charging for example?
On my 7 months old iPad 2020 I get like 4-5 hours of screentime using only GoodNotes. Would expect a bit more -

I have iPad 5th generation 2017 and GoodNotes really drains my battery, beforehand downloading and using the app I would charge the iPad once every 2 days, now I need multiple charges per day, it’s not normal how fast it drains it, I love the app but this issue needs to be looked into. It takes 78% of my battery usage, I don’t think that’s normal thing of an app to do.

I have a 2018 iPad Pro 10.9inch and I have noticed that it does heat up. Looks like the issue has been reported for a while. Has there been any progress on this?

Terrible battery on iPad Pro. Can someone look into this please, as opposed to just allow lazy code to run unoptimised on bigger and bigger chips?

This is one of the apps that use daily. I use it both for work and for studying. I have an iPad Air 4 (2020). The app makes my iPad lose battery pretty fast and it gets super hot. During the summer it was very difficult writing on it. Now that is winter at least I don't sweat as much. I also use Procreate and Affinity Photo almost daily and those apps do not drain the battery or make my iPad feels like I can cook an egg over it.

Please fix battery drain on older devices, please don't increase processing based in M1 chips

The solution to my GoodNotes battery drainage problem was that I recently changed my standard template to one that I found online. Once I switched back to the original GoodNotes templates that is included in the app, my iPad stopped overheating.
