Selective iCloud Sync
I would like to choose which notebooks / documents get synced through iCloud. I have plenty of documents on my iPad that I don't want to have on my iPhone. Things like PDF manuals or PDF presentations that I just can't use on the smaller iPhone screen.

Please consider the request "Show GoodNotes Documents in a folder in the new iOS 11 Files App"

I have multiple devices all synced, but with different sizes of storage. It kills my storage in my smaller devices to be synced to all the docs I need in my large storage devices.

Any update on this? It's 2024, 8 years since the original post. I'm having the same issue. I've turned off the sync option completely.

My iPad has more storage than my iPhone.
Sometimes I need to have my flashcards on my iPhone, but not the whole library.
For this reason, I am not able to have iPhone app dowloaded. So I have to carry my iPad all the time.

Honestly, it’s one of the main reason why I regret buying the Mac version, I don’t need to upgrade my iCloud storage and I don’t need to have all of my GoodNotes file on my computer, but I would really like to have at least my planner and some time sensitive notebooks. I don’t want to delete all of my old notebooks from my iPad. I might just stop using GoodNotes and switch to OneNote or a note shelf or even notability

Yes, essential for notes with private health information not allowed to be synced by the cloud.

This feature is absolutely required and, if not resolved, May drive me away from using GoodNotes.

It seems a lot of people have to turn off sync because GoodNotes can quickly take GB of storage if we sync every file

Highly requested when working with sensitive data that is not allowed on the cloud.

Same issue here as SW below noted: This is also useful for data that can’t be allowed on the cloud. I’m currently stuck choosing between not syncing my data and not using Good Notes.
Would be useful to be able to select a folder or a notebook for sync. -

Can you allow iCloud only for certain notebooks? I dont want to back up everything on Icloud since I have unlimited google drive storage, but I need to sync a planner between my iphone and goodnotes so this would be really handy! Thanks <3

As noted by other commenters, this is a privacy issue, a security issue and a storage issue. At present, GoodNotes users can’t use the collaborate function without making all (at least up to storage limitations) their documents accessible on the cloud. This may also affect users with many local files but a poor internet connection who would like to sync only a small collection of documents.

This is a very good idea, because we like to feel that we have some control in our own lives, especially since all this COVID-19 Pandemic started. In addition, many of us don’t realize how little storage we actually have on a new device, and as a newbie and then before you know your juggling things around. I never understood the reason why we could never have additional SIM cards for storage, unless it’s just about more money, who knows...

As usage of goodnotes increases the sync size also increases and on devices with limited space I end up needing to turn off icloud sync
It would be helpful to allow, per-configuration options, the ability to sync specific or *all* folders.
It would still be useful to sync metadata about all folders for searching, but not necessarily required

Totally support this. Sync is not working properly.

Most of the time the iCloud automatic sync is not working as it suppose to be. Either it's not working at all (as described it should start sync when leaving the document or hit the home button). I have no clue when the changes I made on the iPad could be sync'ed to iCloud so I could continue work on it on the Mac.

Letting us choose which files gets synced on the iCloud will make it much easier and faster to load. Not all files on the iPad i need on the iPhone and vice versa so implementing this "choose what gets synced" will make it way faster and cleaner. Thank you.
