That's an awesome idea.

I wish there was an option for disabling the layering of the highlighter tool, since sometimes we need to colour diagrams or doodles and it gets impossible to do so with the highlighter because you have to do it correctly in only one stroke. If layering could be disabled, the highlighting would all be in one layer, and colouring in multiple strokes would be uniform and not look overlapped and irregular.

The would be so helpful!

I learn german. My classbook has some exercises on it. After I wrote the answers on class and read the page at home, it’d be nice, if I can hide the answers and try to do the exercises again. Goodnotes has in menu item More, an option to clear page. It could also have an item to hide page annotations. So I could do the exercises again, then unhide the layer with the answers and see if I made all right!

When I select something (handwriting, images, text box) and overlap others. I cannot control which layer is at front or back. That means the one I want to show may be hidden.

I really need a option to put pictures in the background regardless the order I add the pictures into my document.
Please add a layering function so that i can also just select one layer with the lasso tool.

YESSS. I'm so tired of adding text as a title to a document and then accidentally lassoing it to move something else. SO ANNOYING.

I want to be able to use the lasso tool to select images, highlighters or my notes and be able to choose whether they are supposed to be on top or below. Cause if I write something and add an image, the image will cover up my words but if I write after the image it stays as the top layers. So I’ll want to be able to change the layers and it’ll be a lot more organized for me.

I am a great user of the app, using it to design furnitures and on measure wood work. Good notes is so fine but two major improvement should be released on the next update :
I am writing my notes in French and in English. For this I need to create two documents. If you could create a « layer » option, I could simply choose the language I need to export in the same document. The top of the top would be layers even for the draws themselves. I could take a picture of client interior and put one two or three layers to make the draws.
The second thing is about getting a very basic architect map. You should allow to put a manageable « scale » on the draws.
You should have a look on what procreate do for this.
Last thing is about the line draws. We should be able to draw a line by simply putting the two point on the beginning and the ending of the line. Very often, my line are not « vertical or horizontal ». But your tool always want to make it like this....
If you do those improvement, architects or people like me will more likely to use Good note because it’s so simple, than procreate...

The single biggest thing you could do to improve GoodNotes is to add layers.

A feature where you can lock images and handwritten notes and can’t be erased but you can still use highlighter on them and they will go under and they still remain high quality when you zoom in and not fuzzy like when i convert my notes to an image. And an unlock feature incase you want to re-edit it again instead of converting it into a flattened pdf then writting a lot of things on top of it then realising you need to change something but its flattened. Or this problem could be solved with layers.

I would also love to see masks because it would allow us to temporarily focus on things and hide others

This feature would also be handy when editing my writing. I sometimes like to make little notes of ideas for myself, so I can remember edits I would make once I get my hands on a laptop. Also, this would be great for presentations or speeches so I can have my notes hidden. Another use could be to make notes over Reference books material while having the option to remove it and have a look at the original content.

Allow images to be moved behind text layers, even if the image has been inserted after the text.

Currently, if one selects drawings with the lasso and moves them over an image, they dissappear behind it.

I use GoodNotes as a "whiteboard" in online lectures. It would be perfect to have more layers, for example in order to have a basic "picture" prepared before the lecture starts, which can then be added, commented or completed within the lecture without destroying the original one.

Some of these ideas may have been mentioned before, and maybe they haven’t, but these are some features I would like to see.

Sending things forward or backward. Or picture layering.

Being able to select handwriting, photos or text boxes and being able to bring it forward or backward so they can layer. It would be super useful for those who digital planner journals or scrapbook.

This one I know has been said, but voice recording.

The ability to convert text directly, rather than a cop and then have to paste, while proceeding to delete the original handwritten text.

The ability to toggle off highlighter layering. I would love to colour more with the highlighter, but, I have to do it one motion otherwise it will layer. It would be nice to do it in more than one sweep.

The ability to choose which what the document scrolls per document. Right now when you change the scrolling it changes for every document. It would be nice to be able to choose the way the document scrolls. Some files I prefer to see vertically while others I want to see horizontally, especially when working in two good notes documents on the iPad.

Please add the possibility to draw on different layers. It would be helpful both for notes and drawings, to be able to draw and edit in different layers.

I was wondering if there can be an option to select a page element and “Bring Forward” or “Send Back” so that I wouldn’t have to worry about layers being obscured. This would be especially helpful for inserting images on top of preexisting text when I want the text to be visible on top of the images.

Add a lock feature like keynote that allows you to lock an image or text layer. That you can’t move, lasso, highlight unless you unlock it yourself.

please add the ability to create layers and manipulate layers. Second please add the ability to create text like ZN where you can use any test that is in your ipad
