Double-Page View / Split View / Side-by-side View
As a professional musician, GoodNotes is almost perfect for viewing and marking up sheet music both during rehearsals and performances! In my circle of friends and colleagues, GoodNotes is really becoming our go-to app! We unanimously agree that the only feature that is missing for viewing sheet music is the ability to view two pages at once (like an open book or in Mac's Preview "double-page viewing"). Is it possible that I'm just not seeing this feature?

We’re excited to announce that we have completed this feature. It is now available in the update GoodNotes 5.3 for iPadOS (13.1).
With the update, we added full support for iPadOS’ multiple windows. It lets you do much more than viewing two documents side by side. To read everything you need to know about opening multiple documents, please visit goodnotes.com/ipad-os.
How to open a new window:
You can now open GoodNotes in multiple windows to view two documents side by side, view two pages of the same document in Split View, or pair it with other apps in spaces across your entire system. To open a new window, drag any of the elements listed below to the side of your screen:
- the app icon from the dock
- documents from the library
- folders from the library
- individual pages from the document thumbnail view
- tabs from the tab-bar
You can also use the buttons in the library action menu or from the tab-bar to open a new window.

I feel upset that we can’t do this after 7 years. GoodNotes is good but this is really a drawback. :(

The "try this instead" is not helpful. I hope devs can see all the comments.

I would love to be able to have two pages displayed like in the preview app on Mac.

I agree with all comments! I came here through a google search to learn how to do this because it felt like an obvious feature. A definite drawback of GoodNotes...

I like to use the present mode where GoodNotes shows the entire page rather than just the part of the page I’m currently zooming in on. This works really well for giving lectures on Zoom – the students get a much better overview of the lecture when they don’t have to see me scrolling. But the thing is, a page in portrait mode takes up only a small part of the centre when viewed on a 16:9 display. The rest of the space is just being wasted. So what I would really like is a new present mode that shows not just the full page, but multiple pages next to each other. So to the left of the page I’m currently writing on, the students would then see the previous page. This would give the students twice as much overview of what’s going on.

It would be wonderful if you could make this happen.
It doesn't seem like a huge ask? -

Allow for us to zoom out further than the page width, or to allow side by side viewing of pages similar to Microsoft Word/ Adobe PDF reader.
Some times it would be beneficial to get a more "bird's eye" view of the document when creating or penning down ideas

A split-page feature would allow for one section of the page to remain on a desired piece of text, whilst the other could scroll down and view the questions.
I am aware of opening the same document in another window, which is great, but what if i wanted to view 1) the text, 2) the questions, and 3) the guidance to the answers, all at once?
This page-split feature would be indispensable!

Your idea is one of the best but could you share a GIF of it instead of a video file?
The video file is a little bit hard to view and this might make it more difficult for others to see it. When I first tried to view it, it automatically downloaded itself to my computer. This happened multiple times with different devices. Right now, for some reason, I'm able to view it directly through the website but it doesn't always play properly.
You shared a truly awesome feature idea and it would be great if more people could easily see a visual representation of it. For this reason, I created a GIF of the video that you shared, which you are free to use in this thread if you would like. If you have the option to edit the thread, then you can try to replace the video with the GIF version. I think a GIF will work better because in my personal experience GIFS have always opened without problems in this forum. -

How could you misinterpret such a simple usecase?
This 2page view (in the _same_ window) is the only feature blocking me from bying the app :(

Add the ability to view two pages of the same document like an open book.

I use goodnotes to annotate slides, and sometimes I download huge slideshows (100+ slides) having the ability to put multiple pages on one pages (similar to when you print multiple pages on one page) would be a HUGE help when annotating big slideshows. Thanks!

Hi,
Yes a two page landscape view in a single pdf document would be extremely useful for theatre directors who need be able to make and see scoring notes on a script on a blank facing page next to the text page. PLEASE add this in an update. It would then really make your app indispensable.

I think the original poster meant, view your notebook like an actual paper notebook, so you can have 2 page view, like if you're reading a book. Not two separate documents open side by side.

Yes!
More people use widescreen and it would be a great help, if for example 3-4 subsequent pages could be displayed next to each in a way, that if the user scrolls all 4 displayed pages change accordingly.
The side by side view can't do that, because each window needs to be manipulated individually. -
