True dark mode
When the device is on dark mode, have text and pdfs invert colors (similar to apple notes and new dark mode on notability).

When I switch to night mode only status bar becomes dark but PDFs still have white background. Hope there could be a function that can reverse color of PDFs so they can have black backgrounds and white characters.
My English could be better.

Please make this happen, having to convert all the white to black manually is ridiculously tedious.

Apple Notes also have this option now. You can turn the dark mode on and off and it also smartly inverts the pen colour.
In Goodnotes, if you write in white pen and changes to white paper, you can't see a thing.:(

Unfuckingbelievable that you havenāt done this already. Every competing product has had it for ages. And you should have sepia mode too for PDFs. Get with the program!

I checked again and there are more suggestions about this feature.
Goodnotes donāt care.
But good news, notability is considering this šŖš¼
Itās time to test it, otherwise OneNote is still a better alternativ

its sad that GoodNotes ignoring these suggestions at this price!
They don't care!If you want a real Dark Mode you have to use alternative apps like OneNote.
Because this function will never come. -

Dear GoodNotes team,
At the moment there is only the option of having dark paper as a background, which cannot be exported as a PDF in white, as the handwritten text remains white.
I thought of a few methods how to use dark paper, which is easier on the eyes, but can still be exported on white paper.
Method 1:
New intelligent template, which is based on the dark mode settings.
- Dark Mode enabled: Dark paper and white ink
- Dark Mode disabled: White paper and black inkMethod 2:
New Background setting, which changes the appearance of the current paper (like OneNote).
Method 3:
It is possible to export notes without the background, this works fine on white paper, but on dark paper the white ink disappears in the white background.
You could introduce a function that inverts white ink into black (colors other than black and white would remain as they are) This function could be placed next to
The background option while exporting. At the moment there are only two options, either you work with white paper so that you can export it later in white with black ink, or you work with dark paper, but you can only export it in black, otherwise the white ink disappears on white paper.
Some schools and universities like mine only accept normal white paper
There are already suggestions here, but I started a new one because the others did not have a correct solution.
OneNote and other apps have this feature, so it's not impossible to implement. Even Apple's standard Notes app can do this.
I guess the third method is the easiest to implement. Exporting dark pages without the background is pretty useless at the moment.
Since exporting with white paper is essential for me, I will probably stay with OneNote, unfortunately.
I hope you can introduce this feature soon, because it is desperately needed.
With best regards

this is an easy feature to add. This is the main reason, I still use OneNote.

The current dark mode in GN is simply turning the theme into dark, but not the document. This is not particularly useful, and the dark mode seems to appeal only to people who at the start make the notes with a dark background. What I suggest is to introduce two types of dark nodes and let users have the freedom to choose between the two. The other dark mode would turn every colour into its āoppositeā colour (MarginNote does this with their dark mode, and I do find that experience much better). It would be really great if you could introduce this alternative dark mode!!! (For the moment, I never use dark mode when using GoodNotes because all my notes and pdf have a white background and turning to dark mode has no use whatsoever).

GoodNotes needs a feature like this! I rendered my own dark/light modes of the same note page by manually changing the colors. Basically, there is a threshold of how much the colors of ink should change. The color and background should have the same relative contrast between modes. Apple already has this feature in their iOS Notes app, GoodNotes needs it in theirs. I canāt print a black notes page on white paper without spending a fortune on ink. See the attached images for reference.

This feature is desperately needed. Although I love the dark paper because it's easier on my eyes, I would also like to be able to print some of my documents without totally wasting my black ink. It's been two years since the original comment. PLEASE make it happen!

I also want this! I don't like using Adobe for taking notes on pdfs (which supports color inversion). And when I read pdfs on good notes my eyes get tired very fast.

They even have this feature in the native ios Notes app. Come on GoodNotes! Why did I pay money when obvious features are missing, that are available in the free native app?
