True dark mode
When the device is on dark mode, have text and pdfs invert colors (similar to apple notes and new dark mode on notability).

In dark mode, switch automatically to dark paper and white ink, and revert back automatically to light paper and black ink when in light mode.

Agree. GN5 doesn't work well with dark mode especially for users who have both white and dark paper documents. Pen colors are "wrong" once switched to dark mode. PLEASE implement auto switching like iOS Notes!

We need an option to somewhat invert dark papers with bright colors into white papers with a dark color but in a more controlled way so we can read on a dark mode and print it on a typical paper.

If you have a dark background, writing with white text is usually nicer because of the contrast. However it is a nightmare to print because of all the ink wasted on printing that background.
Please implement a feature where we can convert background and some other elements into different colours for the sake of printing hard copies. Digital files don’t work for everybody.

it would be perfect if just the background of the black page would be inverted to a white background with whatever pattern is on the black page and the white writing converted to black
Every other color should just stay the same -

It would be great if all the pen colors automatically switched to a neon version of those colors whenever I’m using a black page template to help with visibility. Plus I think it would look cool.

Currently, Dark Mode changes the UI, but not the document area, which is most of the app. Consequently, Penbook is more comfortable than GoodNotes when I want to scrawl out an idea I woke up with at 3AM.
RGB color inversion usually looks terrible, but preserving hue and saturation while inverting luminance (brightness) in HSV space typically preserves contrast and color-coding while providing the sentiment of “dark mode”.
Could luminance inversion in the document display area be an option for Dark Mode?

The current dark paper template is actually a grey, which makes it harder to read when you're writing with light colours. It would be a lot more legible if the grey were a darker black.

It’ll be also very useful for when printing the notes written on a night mode, since we typically print final notes on a white paper. Doing it manually for every single page takes a lot of time and effort and the text most of the time goes under camouflage before even selecting it.

It would be great to have automatic color changing toggle for dark mode. Adobe Acrobat as such feature.

I have been wanting a black paper template from the beginning. It would be A LOT easier on the eyes for someone that is sensitive to brightness and uses Goodnotes heavily every day like myself. It could also reduce battery consumption and display heat, especially when OLED displays come to the iPad in the near future. It blows my mind that a black paper template has not been there from the beginning.

Just as you provide a native white or yellow page, it would be great if you could provide a native black page. I use a custom template (black page + white ink), but it does not feel native (e.g., rendering delays when scrolling). Thanks!

Better solution here for anyone who googles and finds this:

Black paper background would be easier to distinguish lighter colors vs the current options of white and yellow(?).

I like the new iOS 7 theme in GoodNotes 4, but it has WAY too much glaring white space in the "bookshelf" view and in the menu bars. This is fine during the day for most people, but during night or in a dark room it can cause eye strain which inhibits productivity. For people like me with sensitive eyes, it'd be wonderful to have a "dark/night" theme that could be toggled on or off or even automatically activated based on ambient light. The music app "Ecoute" has a perfect example of this functionality. For me, this is the missing feature that would perfect GoodNotes.

Think you can already do this by creating a black pdf for a template. See the docs there is a reference there somewhere about making your own templates.
