One feature I would really love to see in Goodnotes is the ability to add a notebook-style background around imported and resized PDF slides, such as lined, grid, or dotted paper.

This feature is already available in Notability, and it is one of the reasons why many students prefer using Notability for lecture notes.

A common workflow for students is to first use another app or website to resize their lecture slides, then import the resized PDF into Notability. Notability allows them to place the slides on a notebook-style page with a lined background surrounding the slides, creating a clean space for handwritten notes, as shown in the attached example.

Many students use this workflow because it allows them to keep the original lecture slides while turning the empty space around them into a useful note-taking area.

I believe Goodnotes could implement and improve this feature by allowing users to:

• Add a lined, grid, dotted, or custom background around imported PDF content.
• Keep the original slides completely unchanged, without cropping or covering any content.
• Automatically apply the background only to the available empty space around the slides.
• Allow users to choose different layouts and backgrounds for better note-taking.

This would be especially useful for students who study from lecture slides and want to combine their slides and handwritten notes in one organized page.

Goodnotes is already an excellent note-taking app, and adding this feature would eliminate the need for students to use other apps just to create this type of lecture-note layout.
