Enable Text Highlighting with Mouse on iPadOS
Dear Goodnotes Team,
I’d like to share some feedback regarding the use of a mouse in the iPadOS version of Goodnotes.
Currently, when using the app on a MacBook, it’s possible to highlight text with a mouse. However, on the iPad, this functionality is not available. If you’re using an iPad with a mouse and keyboard setup, you have to physically move the iPad closer, pick up the Apple Pencil, and only then can you highlight text.
This makes the experience less seamless, especially for users who prefer a desktop-like setup with their iPad.

Return underlining button
GN recently took away the ability to do straight underling in favor of holding the pen until it snaps into place. I do a lot of underlining of study projects, and that was my most used feature. Now it is gone and it takes much more time to have to hold the pen for a straight line to snap into place. What is wrong with adding that button back into the annotation mix? Video clips and more writing tools and drag and drop of specfic page to my mind map
Everything is good I mainly use Goodnotes for mind mapping my lectures the only hindrance I faced that I was not able to add video clips to my notes, and also when I import PDF of my lecture notes in good notes. I can’t just drag and drop pages from like a specific slide to directly into my Notes, which is like a another hindrance because I have to take screenshot again and again and then put it back in. Use page names rather than page numbers when creating links
When we create a link to another page within our documents we currently have to specify by page number. For documents with many pages it's not helpful having to remember which page has what information.
All the pages can be renamed, so it would make sense if those names were displayed in addition to the page number.
That would allow a quick way of identifying and linking to a specific page.
The thumbnails that do show are often far too small to allow you to see the page's content.

8-shaped selection for multi-page PDF export (Whiteboard & Notebooks)
When exporting a large selected area as a PDF, handwriting often becomes pixelated or blurry.
It would be helpful if users could draw an “8” shape with the selection tool to divide the selected area into multiple regions. The intersection of the “8” could act as a separator, allowing Goodnotes to automatically export the content as multiple PDF pages (two or more, depending on the gesture).
This feature could work on both Whiteboard and Notebook pages, making it easier to export large handwritten notes while keeping the text quality high.

Upgrade GoodNotes 5
Hi!
I’m a student still using GoodNotes 5 and I really love it. ❤️
Unfortunately, not everyone can afford to upgrade to GoodNotes 6, so I kindly ask if you could add a few small updates to version 5 — like more pen settings or simple improvements. Nothing big, just small things to help students like me.

Hint
I would love to see a hint option added to the study cards. I believe it would add to the effectiveness of the memorizing process for many of us. Sometimes I just need a word or two to get me pointed in the right direction.

Rounded corners on shapes
There should be an option to draw shapes with rounded corners added to the new stroke settings similar to the ability to draw dashed and dotted lines and arrows heads. This idea was posted 2 other times back in 2020 but has not been addressed or updated.

Shape autofill
I used to use the shape snap feature when writing notes. Previously the shape would automatically fill in with a less opaque colour, and I had the option to erase the filled colour using the erase tool, or leave it but change the colour(both of which I used on different occasions). In the new update I can't erase or change the filled in colour and my only options are to disable the autofill colour altogether, or to just ignore it. I don't understand why this feature was removed.

PDF Accessibility
When exporting PDFs into and out of Goodnotes, accessibility features like alt text on images, reading pane orders, etc. are totally lost. As an instructor, I have been using Goodnotes to annotate pdfs of notes in class, but I cannot post those annotated pdfs because they do not meet our University's accessibility standards. Exporting as editable or flattened files does not help with this.
Creating a PowerPoint and setting up accessibility info. in it is not difficult, and those translate perfectly to Adobe Acrobat and are recognized by Canvas. Ideally, it seems like Goodnotes handwriting recognition could essentially add alt.…

True Dark Mode: Automatic Page & Ink Color Inversion
The Problem
When we use GoodNotes in Dark Mode, the app interface switches beautifully, but the actual notebook page remains glaring white. This is highly distracting and causes significant eye strain when studying or working at night.The Feature Request

Zooming out pdf
1.When we open a PDF, it always opens at 100% size. If I try to zoom out using two fingers, it automatically snaps back to full screen as soon as I release my fingers. Better Support for Comic and Manga Reading
I like reading comics and manga and marking them up. Goodnotes has the best markup I have tried. But there are some panels in the books that join into one, and when I import my PDFs I can only see half of the panel at once. I would like to be able to see two pages at once. Gapless would be ideal, but I imagine it makes sense for there to be a gap. A toggle would help.

There should be a way to reverse the flash card to learn the questions from the answers? Quizlet, a competing app, does this, and I can't find the equivalent on Goodnotes :(

Showing Zoom% in Notebooks
I really love the new Whiteborads, especially because I can see the % of Zoom, and I can also change it accuratly.
I would love the some functionality in Notebooks, so every time I write with the same resolution.
For example: I find most convenient to write in my notebook at 86%, so my letters are all the same size.I know that there is a zoom window, but I don't like to use that, because I takes half of the screen of my iPad and the scale is just too big for me.
