Keyboard Support for Math Equations
I'm genuinely surprised this feature hasn't been implemented yet—or perhaps I’ve missed something. As far as I can tell, there’s currently no way to input math equations directly using the keyboard. This is a significant limitation, especially for Mac users who don't have the option to handwrite equations.
It would be incredibly useful to have a way to insert math equations inline with text when typing, similar to how tools like Notion or Typora support LaTeX or KaTeX syntax—for example, by wrapping equations in $...$.
Given that Goodnotes already supports rendering math via handwriting recognition, the logic for equation parsing…

More Style Options for Text
Being able to type documents and adding text fields to handwritten docs is great, but the style options (fonts, text size, …) are quite limited.
I would really enjoy more advanced typing features to make the experience of typing documents feel closer to Microsoft Word oder Apple Pages.
I know the focus of GoodNotes is still handwriting, but just little improvements like making it more accessible/quicker to change fonts or text style (or even keyboard shortcuts) would enhance the experience of being able to use just one app for handwritten and typed notes!2 votes -

Pen to modify the color/thickness of existing pen strokes
Samsung notes has a nice feature, where I can select a pen-modifier and a color, and when drawing over existing text, this text will change it's color to the selected color, which was set for the pen-modifier. It's quite similar to the Lasso-tool, to edit the color, but the lasso tool can be quite painful to use. Especially, if you have a big formula and want the change the color of specific letters in it. Writing in a full page (as in a word document)
Hello! I love using goodnotes. I have an iPad on which I use goodnotes and I love it. I also use it on my Windows computer, and its not as good as on the iPad. I wish we could have access to the Typing tool as on the ipad, where we can write as in a word document. And also, I wish we could justify the text!

pen color on split screen
I use split screen a lot, and I find it annoying that when I change the color of the pen and then return to the full screen, the slot has changed color. I want to be able to switch throughout the colors like I do in full screen.

Option to Disable Margins in Horizontal Mode
It would be really helpful to have a toggle in the settings that allows users to turn off the default margins when viewing PDFs in horizontal (landscape) mode.
At the moment, horizontal view automatically adds greyed-out margins on either side of the document, which reduces the amount of space available for writing or annotating. This isn't the case in vertical mode, where the document fills the screen edge-to-edge.
Having the option to disable these margins would:
Maximize the usable screen area
Make PDFs easier to annotate or edit
Provide a cleaner, distraction-free full-screen view

Rich Text Formatting for Typed Notes
It would be great to have more control over typed text formatting in GoodNotes. Specifically, the ability to change font size, color, and style—just like in word processors such as LibreOffice or Word. This would make typed notes much more flexible and visually organized, especially for studying or professional use.

Resetting smart learn manually and adding favorites
There isnt a way to reset smart learn. It just shows the cards i didnt remember last time i used it. It would be nice to be able to do it. Also a feature wich allows you to mark favorite flash cards and only revise them is essential.

PDF Outline in notes
PDF outline is not always necessary in docs. I imported PDFs into my note and the pdf outline is always on, even I turned it off every time. It’s distracting from the main notes. Can it stay off??

Layered Notes Functionality
I often revise my notes while adding temporary annotations or brainstorming ideas. It would be extremely helpful if there were a “note layer” feature, allowing users to write on a separate layer during review sessions. This way, such drafts or additional notes could be easily managed or deleted without affecting the original content.

Resize image from corner or one side only
When resizing images in GoodNotes, the image always scales from the center. This makes it very difficult to align multiple imported images like sheet music pages. Please allow resizing from just one side or corner (e.g., like in Keynote or Pages).
This would make GoodNotes much more usable for music editors, designers, and people who work with imported documents. Thank you!

Limit about of flash cards when using Smart Study (study sets)
I have huge study sets (hundreds of flashcards). I would love to be able to set a limit for daily flashcards (e.g. 50 / day, similar to Anki), since I find it very demotivating to see a number like 150 flashcards due, especially, after I created new ones.

Highlighter behind text
When highlighting text written by any of the pens, the highlight should automatically go behind the text, especially on dark paper, this way it looks better and the text is more readable

APPLE PENCİL
You need to provide an Apple Pencil that works like a signature pen. As I increase the tip sharpness in the pen settings, the pen starts behaving in the opposite way — not as it should. I'm attaching an image. Please bring this kind of pen.

"View Only" sharing
Share the link to a Notebook or pdf that I can share to students as View Only. Perhaps even a whole folder.
I regularly share my Notebooks before I annotate on them to encourage students who do have Goodnotes to make their own notes, but having to select the pages of the notebook that I have been through in a lesson to then share to google drive or google classroom each time can be very time consuming.
Having the same system as the share to collaborate except making it view only would be so useful as a teacher.2 votes -
