Add ability to return to tab screen from document list screen without opening new document
When browsing to open a document, it is impossible to return to the tabbed document screen without opening a new document. It would be nice to be able to return to the tabbed document screen without being required to open a new document.

YEEEESSSS. That is soo annoying. Happens multiple times in every lesson i give. Really - it would only need the same button in the same position to go back and forth.

oh yes !!!! Please ! This is part of those little annoying things that build daily frustrations...

Actually this existed in version four and it is still around in version five and it is no less annoying I am afraid. It is a real nuisance when the rest of the app is so great.

Absolutely necessary. It’s frustrating opening random documents just to return to that page

I totally agree with the last comment (by Mark Grimshaw). Unbelievable that such a fundamental feature is not yet available!
This feature request should be advertised. -

How can such a fundamental navigation issue not be addressed after so long.
This is really frustrating and a little novice.
Unfortunately Randell’s workaround in the comment still doesn’t avoid users from opening up a few document to get back to the document view. It simply shows users the latest documents that were open (some of which might now be closed so selecting them to navigate back would mean Re-opening a document to return to said view).
Come on guys sort it out

I agree with this suggestion and this it would be rather elegant, but am very grateful to Randell Duggins’ comment on how to go back to a recently opened doc - I hadn’t thought of this.

I consider this resolved in Good Notes 5. Just click on the "Search" button, currently between the "Documents" and "Favorites" buttons outside of document viewing mode. Under "Recently Opened Documents" I click on the most recent document to the far left of the category.
I think this is a much better workflow than creating a navigation path to just go back-and-forth from document viewing to folder structure, as the most recent document I am often trying to get back to without needing to navigate to it in the folder structure, or open a random document just to regain access to the document viewing mode. Two problems solved at one time. Awesome job!

Yes, please, please add this! It is a fundamental user interface failing that you cannot go back to your opened documents without having to open another!!!!
This is not a new feature request, but really a big bug fix.
I love GoodNotes, but this is frustrating.

YES! This is super important! It's been quite ineffective when you go back into categories to search for something but instead want to go back to your tabbed document screen. You end up having to click on 'any' document to take you to that screen. Doesn't make sense!

+1
This would be huge. Many times, I tap the '<' button to go to the categories by accident and have to open another document to get back and close it.
