Password protect

It would be great if you had an option to password protect a selected notebook in case you have to create one that would contain sensitive information.

Introducing Password Protection for your documents


To lock a document, tap on the context menu for the document in the library view and set a password. Anytime you try to open, export, duplicate, or delete the document, Goodnotes will ask you for the set password. If you’re using a device that supports FaceID or TouchID, you can use these instead of your password to unlock a document. Please note that you can have only one password that will apply to all locked notebooks and that Password Protection is only available in Goodnotes 6. Learn more


Update to version 6.4.2 in App Store to use Password Protection.

    I was surprised and disappointed when I bought this app and found it lacked this simple feature. Some of my writing is private but this app doesn't enable me to make it so.

    Definitely - when I bought this app, I assumed it would have a privacy option for some folders, and was disappointed that this simple modification wasn't available.

    It would be very useful! I have a password for the access of my dropbox. But, when I download a document from my dropbox into GoodNotes, it's not required! So, if someone use my iPad, he can consult my documents...

    HI, look at the app UPAD, they have the same cloud connection with Google Drive (exactly the same log in window!) but the links from policy or terms of service dont work like in your case, they saw that it was too easy from that window to go to google search and they made the links useless, it's probably an easy implementation, please hear me. I want to be able to use your app again, it has help me so much.

    Hi, I love your app and I used it a lot. I have an Internet addiction problem and I cannot use something with a browser in it. Unfortunately the chrome sync interface can redirect you to google search, and from there almost everywhere (videos and all), please try to change something about that, a browser is not a bad idea, as long there is a password from protection. Because its not only me I guesss, I guess a lot of parents give iPads with your wonderful app and would not like that their children could go to unsafe places too. Thank you and keep the good work!

    Please add this function! It's very important and I don't think it's hard to do so. Many other note taking or PDF editing software has such function.

    I use for work. People sign off on my worksheets and I email them once completed. But because HIPAA I need to haven password protection. Currently need to transfer to two other apps to get it done right.
