[Outline] Sub-Outlines / Tabs / Navigation in the notes
When I import some PDFs their outlines are imported too. I love this feature. I have noticed that when this happens, the outlines have sub-outlines to make navigating the outlines easier.
However, I can not create this in my own GoodNotes outlines. It only works when I import a PDF that already has this structure built into it.
I would like to have a feature in GoodNotes where I can create sub-outlines in my notebooks.

Thanks for your feedback!
Sub-outlines will be available very soon.
Stay tuned for updates!

Please enable the ability to reorder items in the outline and create subcategories. I put all my project files at the end of my notebook but I want them organized in the outline under project type. Thanks

I am teacher, I use goodnotes extensively, I would be a game changing if we could introduce sub outline. Not only me, there are many teacher around the world for whom it will be helpful.

This actually might be a dealbreaker for me. Coming from OneNote, I love everything in Goodnotes 6 but if I can not even organise my notes, what even is the point of making them digitally, at least that’s the case for me.

This has been one of the biggest pains trying to efficiently use GoodNotes in an academic context.
Imported PDF outlines are way more organized and granular than GoodNotes allows, but they're also uneditable and often out of sequential order.
Kind of kills organization and productivity to not be able to create sequential outline tabs in the content as you would with a physical binder/notebook.

+ I think it would be nice if I can set sub-outlines and more sub ones for that. And it’s going to be how : first, I should just normally create outlines, and then for example by dragging B outline and releasing it on A outline, B becomes subordinate to A outline! Wouldn’t it be cool?

Yes!! I would like to tap a button and have it show me at a glance all the tabs I have open so that I can more easily find the one I need.

I cannot believe that this feature was requested in 2019, and six years later, the app still does not have the dead-simple feature of being able to add nested outlines. What is going on here? Come on, goodnotes?!

It sounds like you've discovered a really helpful feature in GoodNotes with imported PDFs and their pre-existing, well-structured outlines! It's completely understandable why you'd want to replicate that level of organization when creating your own notebooks directly within GoodNotes. The ability to create sub-outlines would indeed add a significant layer of navigational efficiency, especially for complex notes or projects. https://www.humantodog.com

Yes. I see that GN will build an outline based on existing PDF table of contents, but only at the first level. Larger PDFS with nested ToC miss out.

Very much needed, as my documents get large, I need to collapse rather than scrolling endlessly through outline items. I wish they could be nested. Thank you for considering.

It’s been 6 years and this basic feature is still missing. Either the team is incredibly incompetent, or they're just holding it back to monetize it in a goodnote 7.

This is a must, especially for note taking, as a math student you can only imagine the hassle of searching for that one theorem among dozens...

I absolute agree with that idea. I even designed a demo version for this solution in the image below
