[Lasso] Allow creating multiple text boxes without switching to the lasso
Stop having lasso be the default tool. I cannot even remove it from the toolbar. It is frustrating that everything always goes back to lasso. I can’t even do multiple text boxes one after the other because once you type in a text box once and click off it goes straight to lasso instead of having text toggled on like it used to
Hello! Thanks so much for your feedback and for sharing your ideas with us.
We’re excited to let you know that we’ve updated the Text tool and introduced a new dedicated floating menu for text boxes, including more customization options.
One of the new tools is Pin Text Tool — when enabled, it keeps the Text tool active so you can create multiple text boxes continuously without having to reselect it each time.
This is especially helpful when you're focused on adding or adjusting text in your notes. The pin will automatically turn off once you switch to another tool.
Feel free to try it out and let us know how it works for you!
This improvement is available in the latest Apple update.

This default interrupts workflow big time. I would rather have it default to the writing tool, but would like a choice.

Ditto to all! This has reduced my productivity. To do this in the middle of the semester is honestly criminal. I have resulted to using the new text document, but even then I can't search words in the document like a quick note or highlight notes. Hoping everything is fixed soon.

KEEP TEXT BOX SELECTED. IT AUTOMATICALLY GOES BACK TO SELECTION TOOL AFTER YOU TYPE IN THE TEXT BOX

This change slows me down so much it either has to get changed or I will have to find an alternative app. I use GoodNotes for digital planning and write many small text boxes in a row. Having to select the text box tool between each one is slow and frustrating.

The copy paste function barely works and it’s not intuitive anymore. Plus auto switch to lasso mode makes it unusable.

This makes the app unusable for me. I'll have to find an alternative.

The upgrade is so so uncomfortable i cant keep writing the text and always i need to touch for new pen tools or text box. I don't understand why u update like this. Also when i draw some circle or check(v) shape, it so suddenly changes to another appearance, and in korea app store, there are a lot of people who feels so uncomfortable of this kind of update. I hope it come back of old version

I have been a huge goodnotes fan and promoter for many years. This most recent update is HORRIBLE for workflow...who even designed it?? It takes MULTIPLE steps to get to the tools I want, and it keeps defaulting back to lasso when I am trying to type multiple text boxes in a row. UNREAL. Please please please change it back, so I don't have to find and switch to another app. oof.

Like most here I use the app primarily to take notes. Using text boxes takes so much longer now after this update. The app is not usable with lasso being the default. Especially when using for to-do lists/planners.
I’ll go back to paper planner and get rid of the app is this isn’t fixed soon. Just give users the option of what to tool is the default.

Since the latest GoodNotes 6 update, the text box tool has become a bit annoying to use. Before, I could select the text box tool once and keep adding multiple text boxes without having to click it again each time. Now, after I add one text box, the tool automatically deselects, and I have to tap the text box icon again to make a new one. It makes writing notes much slower and less convenient. I’d really prefer if the old behaviour came back or if there was an option to keep the text box tool active.

GoodNotes is now BadNotes lol. The past few days I’ve used this app to take notes I have been so distracted fiddling to put the boxes where I need them to go and wrestling with the lasso feature. I can’t take notes with ease anymore. The one thing the app was designed for was broken in 2 updates haha. Such a shame honestly. I’ve waited a week for them to at least fix the auto lasso feature but something so simple can’t even be done when it was available last update.
I’ll also add on that the textbox placement has been such a pain for the last few updates. The app has “zones” that when I try to click to add a textbox into I can’t. I’ll click and click and click trying to add a box to that place and it won’t let me. I’ll find spots where I can add the textbox and then I have to click elsewhere and move it which I could deal with ok but now it’s gotten to the point of being unusable. -

This is terrible. It makes the user experience less fluid and makes no sense.

Please give the option to choose the default I don’t want it to always default to the lasso tool it’s taking too much time to keep clicking the text box.

Agreed!! Please change this, it slows me way down and at times it gets frustrating enough I debate about trying different note taking apps.

Agree, this is making edits and multiple text boxes on a page take 3-5x as long to edit, its infuriating.
