[Lasso] Allow creating multiple text boxes without switching to the lasso
Stop having lasso be the default tool. I cannot even remove it from the toolbar. It is frustrating that everything always goes back to lasso. I can’t even do multiple text boxes one after the other because once you type in a text box once and click off it goes straight to lasso instead of having text toggled on like it used to
Hello! Thanks so much for your feedback and for sharing your ideas with us.
We’re excited to let you know that we’ve updated the Text tool and introduced a new dedicated floating menu for text boxes, including more customization options.
One of the new tools is Pin Text Tool — when enabled, it keeps the Text tool active so you can create multiple text boxes continuously without having to reselect it each time.
This is especially helpful when you're focused on adding or adjusting text in your notes. The pin will automatically turn off once you switch to another tool.
Feel free to try it out and let us know how it works for you!
This improvement is available in the latest Apple update.

an option to at least turn this automatic return feature on/off would be greatly appreciated. For now, it is extremely annoying especially after building habits over years of using this program

The new text box mode is so inefficient for taking notes on the lecuture manuscripts, you need to double tap to confirm the box and it switches back to lasso tool after one box. Bring the old one back or give us the option to so these different tools won't deselect after placing one item etc.

This needs to be brought back. It's hindering me taking notes efficiently during class. Why do I have to double tap to confirm the text box, and then on top of that it switches back to lasso tool after one box.
Please bring it back goodnotes ASAP... -

I wanted to share some feedback regarding the recent update to the typing feature in GoodNotes. I primarily use the app to type my notes for my master’s classes, and I only use the pen and highlighter occasionally for color or emphasis.
With the new update, the option to type anywhere on the page has become much more difficult to use. Before, I could simply select “Type” and continue typing across pages seamlessly. Now, I have to press and hold the text icon, select the typing mode, and even then, if I accidentally tap outside the text box, it stops working. It feels clunky and disrupts my note-taking flow.
The previous version was much smoother and more efficient for users like me who mainly type instead of handwriting. I really preferred the older setup — it allowed me to focus on my notes without having to constantly adjust settings or reselect tools.
I hope you consider bringing back the old typing behavior or offering an option to switch to it in the settings. It would make a huge difference for those of us who primarily type our notes.

The new update is incredibly impractical and deters me from using this platform. I have been a good notes user for years, and this update makes me want to switch. Having to click on the text every single time you want to type on your notes makes no sense. There's just way too much clicking now, where before everything was laid out so nicely, and so easy to use. Now its just confusing and makes my life more difficult while taking notes during lecture.

Please let us get the old toolbar back AND cancel the fact that the lasso tool is activated by default everytime you switch to something, I like my organisation system to review my classes which implies to fill color coded squares AND I CAN'T DO THAT IN PEACE ANYMORE because everytime I try to readjust the color IT SWITCHES TO LASSO and forces A TEXT BUBBLE and I'm going to cry from frustation so please, PLEASE let us go back to the old toolbar. I really love this app and use it for all my classes, but it's getting more and more frustrating.
+ The bookmark thing is not efficient at all I liked to be able to mark, unmark and check if a page was marked wile taking notes and listening to my professor.(Edited by admin) -

Whenever I use a text box, it swaps back to the lasso tool automatically, which really slows me down when I want to start another text type by clicking the text box icon again and again. This is so time-wasting, inefficient and ineffective. I don’t see any special reason to force the users to use the lasso tool as a default function. At least the officials should give the users choices on choosing the default tool!

Hello GoodNotes team,
Since the latest update I’ve noticed that after typing in a text box, the app always switches back to the lasso tool. This interrupts my workflow, especially when I want to create multiple text boxes in a row.
It would be very helpful if there was an option to keep the Text Tool selected as the default tool, just like we can with the pen or highlighter. In GoodNotes 5 this was possible, but in version 6 it seems to have been removed.
Could you please bring back (or explain how to enable) a “Keep Text Tool selected” option? Many users who type a lot in text boxes would benefit from this.
Thank you very much for considering this feature request!

I want the text box sticky feature! It is messing up my work flow because I keep having to go back and select it again, it makes it difficult to work with the calendar document I use, and takes longer because I keep having to go back and deselect the lasso tool every time!!!
Making the textbox "not sticky" is NOT an IMPROVEMENT it is a frustration!

I have been using GoodNotes for a long time, but recently I encountered an issue. Whenever I try to write, I click on the text box to start typing, but as soon as I click on the page, the cursor automatically switches to the Lasso Tool icon. This keeps happening repeatedly, and it is quite inconvenient because it takes extra time.
It would be much better if the user could manually choose which tool to use instead of it switching automatically.
Could you please help me resolve this issue?
Thank you very much for your support

Dear GoodNotes Support Team,
I have been using GoodNotes for a long time and it has always worked perfectly. However, recently I started facing a problem. When I try to write, I click on the writing tool, but as soon as I tap on the page to start writing, the cursor automatically switches to the Lasso Tool. This keeps happening repeatedly, and it takes extra time to get back to the writing tool each time

Totally agree with this. The new behavior of the text tool seriously slows down workflow — especially for users who type structured notes, forms, templates, or create organized layouts.
In previous versions, keeping the Text Tool active made it feel natural and efficient, just like using a pen or highlighter. Now, having to tap the toolbar after every text box breaks the flow and takes away from the smooth GoodNotes experience we’ve come to love.
Please bring back an option like “Keep Text Tool Selected” or “Make Text Tool Sticky.” Even a simple toggle in the settings would make a huge difference for productivity and consistency.
This might seem small, but for heavy daily users, it’s actually critical for keeping GoodNotes fast and intuitive. 🙏🏻

Since the latest GoodNotes 6 update, the text box tool has become a bit annoying to use. Before, I could select the text box tool once and keep adding multiple text boxes without having to click it again each time. Now, after I add one text box, the tool automatically deselects, and I have to tap the text box icon again to make a new one. It makes writing notes much slower and less convenient. I’d really prefer if the old behaviour came back or if there was an option to keep the text box tool active.

The new auto-switch to the lasso tool is beyond frustrating. If I want the lasso tool I will select it, and until then keep the tool that I am using.

I agree completely — this is awful. Don’t most of us fill in text where we need to and then lasso to move it around. I hate this upgrade. What a waste of time.
