[Lasso] Allow creating multiple text boxes without switching to the lasso
Stop having lasso be the default tool. I cannot even remove it from the toolbar. It is frustrating that everything always goes back to lasso. I can’t even do multiple text boxes one after the other because once you type in a text box once and click off it goes straight to lasso instead of having text toggled on like it used to
Hello! Thanks so much for your feedback and for sharing your ideas with us.
We’re excited to let you know that we’ve updated the Text tool and introduced a new dedicated floating menu for text boxes, including more customization options.
One of the new tools is Pin Text Tool — when enabled, it keeps the Text tool active so you can create multiple text boxes continuously without having to reselect it each time.
This is especially helpful when you're focused on adding or adjusting text in your notes. The pin will automatically turn off once you switch to another tool.
Feel free to try it out and let us know how it works for you!
This improvement is available in the latest Apple update.

Let me choose a default tool. For example, if I almost exclusively type notes on my lecture slides using my laptop, I want to be able to have text as my default tool.

This is a critical feature for me too - my professors talk too fast for me to be going back and forth between the button and where I want to put the text box!

hello,
I am one of the users who use GoodNotes 6.
First, thanks for making a good appThe problem there is that after the new update,
The interface has been changed, and the Type button, when I clicked it, kept changing to another button, so I needed to click to get a blank continuouslyIT IS UNBELIEVABLY inefficient and uncomfortable.
I know you guys put a lot of effort and making it good for everybodyHowever, the interface is changing too frequently and cannot accept this small feature, which already gives discomfort, making it really hard for me to use.
please consider these features when you guys update
thanks

Since the latest GoodNotes 6 update, the text box tool has become a bit annoying to use. Before, I could select the text box tool once and keep adding multiple text boxes without having to click it again each time. Now, after I add one text box, the tool automatically deselects, and I have to tap the text box icon again to make a new one. It makes writing notes much slower and less convenient. I’d really prefer if the old behaviour came back or if there was an option to keep the text box tool active.

it’s impossible to make notes continuously when the text box tool returns to lasso right after use please make it a sticky feature that stays put!!

Since the new update (7.0.3) and the introduction of the new toolbar, the textbox feature has become unusable. I need to write a lot of notes for my studies using the textbox, and in the old version, once you selected the textbox tool, it stayed active until you manually switched to another tool, such as the pencil. However, since the new update, every time I finish typing in a textbox, it automatically switches back to the lasso tool. This means I have to constantly reselect the textbox, which completely disrupts my workflow. It’s becoming so frustrating that I’m seriously considering switching to another app.

This update is ridiculous!!! Can’t even start typing unless you go to the textbox function and hold it down and click start typing… absolutely ridiculous and inconvenient. The old toolbar was MUCH better. Bring it back… a lot of people are unhappy

The recent update for the lasso tool has the options bar coming up immediately when selecting something. This is extremely inconvenient when trying to quickly reorganize a page and go back to writing, as it blocks nearby text on the page and often can result in accidentally tapping the delete icon. Previously, double-tapping writing selected by the lasso tool would bring this bar up, which still presented convenient options for alteration, but made moving small things around quickly more convenient because the view of the page was not obstructed by the options bar every time.
If there is a way to disable this feature/ revert it to the previous manual preferences, that would also be helpful. -

Also can't keep the size the same because of this, and the set size is really big for some docs.

Text tool in GoodNotes 7 is not sticky. After adding text, it always switches back to the lasso tool. This makes it impossible to stay in text mode or to return with Apple Pencil double-tap/squeeze. Please allow the text tool to remain active like pen or eraser.

Please bring back the old toolbar!! It is so much harder to take notes if you turn your handwriting into typing. Defaulting to the lasso tool is very inconvenient and slows down the note taking process by a lot!!! Also moving the text boxes is not easy and it was.

Stop making the app go back to the lasso tool. Every time I want a new text box I have to go back to the toolbar and select the text option. Before, you just tapped the screen and got a new text box. Bring that back.

Before upgrading to version 7.0, everything was fine.
But now, every time I want to add a new text box, I have to manually select the text tool again, because after adding one, it automatically switches back to the lasso tool.
This behavior is very inefficient and slows down my workflow.
The previous versions didn’t have this issue, and I hope you can bring back the old behavior or at least provide a setting to turn off the automatic switch. -

With the new update, the lasso is the default pen setting. When you open a notebook or when you go from erase with a surface pen, it automatically goes back to lasso. This completely defeats the purpose of being able to use the back of your pen for erasing (which doesn't autosnap back to anything as of late). Lasso is by far not the most popular tool. Why is it default?

Can you please make it so that we can choose what our default tool is? Before if i selected the lasso tool and then closed tools to go to another page, when i opened tools again the lasso tool was still selected. Now it defaults to the pen as the original posted requested but for those of that use Goodnotes for digital planning the lasso tool is needed to move things across notebooks so it is very frustrating to keep having to rechoose the lasso tool each time especially since it was not like that before the recent update. Best solution so everyone is happy is to allow us to choose the default tool in settings ourselves for our individual needs.

I switch between pen and lasso probably about 10 times minimum in 5 minutes, if not more. I write things and like to continuously organise my content, my thoughts as I go. This is especially useful in process diagraming and mind mapping.
Automatically turning off lasso once used would be annoying if you have to organise multiple things sequentially.
I would like to see this feature improved by being able to swap the double-tap Apple Pencil 2 gesture for Pen --> Lasso --> Pen, rather than Pen --> Eraser --> Pen as it is by default.
An additional option to improve this whole experience would be to allow a 'scribble to erase' feature. Therefore I could write, scribble with my pen on top of words to erase them, and double-tap the Pencil 2 to switch to lasso.
