Implement a splitscreen option.

The splitscreens option allows the user to see two pages of one document at once. With this option the user can open an informative pdf on the one side while taking notes on a different sheet on the other side.

We’re excited to announce that we have completed this feature. It is now available in the update GoodNotes 5.3 for iPadOS (13.1).

With the update, we added full support for iPadOS’ multiple windows. It lets you do much more than viewing two documents side by side. To read everything you need to know about opening multiple documents, please visit goodnotes.com/ipad-os.

How to open a new window:

You can now open GoodNotes in multiple windows to view two documents side by side, view two pages of the same document in Split View, or pair it with other apps in spaces across your entire system. To open a new window, drag any of the elements listed below to the side of your screen:

- the app icon from the dock
- documents from the library
- folders from the library
- individual pages from the document thumbnail view
- tabs from the tab-bar

You can also use the buttons in the library action menu or from the tab-bar to open a new window.

    I'v been taking a lot of notes on my IPP 10.5 with GN5 & I constantly struggle in changing colors within the 3 color selection options. I just had an idea - we can make it as 6 by adding a way of double tap switch. It would be innovative and extremely useful.

    For example I use 4 colors mostly, as do most of us I suppose viz. Blue, Black, Red, Green. If this was to be implemented - I would use Blue & Black in 1 Selector, Red & Green in the next & additional switchable ones in the 3rd.

    I think this would be a Boon to Note takers everywhere as we do love to COLOR them up right? What do you guys think? Comment below.

    Yes this feature is a must if goodnotes is to replace a paper based notebook where one can see two pages at a time or, for a loose leaf binder see non-consecutive pages side by side

    I see people are asking this feature from 2014 , if couldn’t add it until now, i do not expect that they would be able to get it any time soon. Very disappointing. Many other app has this feature.Notabilty is way better

    I am switching to pdf expert, they have two page veiw, and voice notes as well. If goodnotes get these two features ill definatley switch back to goodnotes. I do not recommend goodnotes until then. Use pdf expert its way better and productive also they have mac app version as well.

    In GoodNotes 4, if the iPad was connected to Beamer the second screen was hided. As a teacher I saw the Screen the students saw AND my notes for the lesson (for example pages) but Students couldn’t see. That was great. Can’t find the option in GoodNotes 4

    It is so much easier to have all referenced material in one app. I agree it is already done by the competition. Could we have some feedback?

    My battery gets drained in 5 hours even though I haven’t opened iPad. Battery usage log shows 79% battery used up by GoodNotes.

    Not ideal, but can you open the notebook page in another app via iOS split screen?

    The developer of Goodnotes has been silent on the availability of split screen thus far. Please, we’d like to hear from Goodnotes on this. Was looking forward to Goodnotes 5. It’s great but a let-down too that split screen is still missing.

    As a med school note taker, I like to cross reference notes from two different Goodnotes pages seamlessly without having to go back and forth between tabs. I would hope this would be an upcoming feature on Goodnotes 5- perhaps the only feature that would make me do the upgrade from 4.

    And they just released Goodnotes 5 without the feature. I can do it Notability but really like a lot of the feature in Goodnotes that noteability does not have (such as being to add paper in the middel of a PDF or changing paper type in the middle of a notebook.)
