Implement a splitscreen option.
The splitscreens option allows the user to see two pages of one document at once. With this option the user can open an informative pdf on the one side while taking notes on a different sheet on the other side.
We’re excited to announce that we have completed this feature. It is now available in the update GoodNotes 5.3 for iPadOS (13.1).
With the update, we added full support for iPadOS’ multiple windows. It lets you do much more than viewing two documents side by side. To read everything you need to know about opening multiple documents, please visit goodnotes.com/ipad-os.
How to open a new window:
You can now open GoodNotes in multiple windows to view two documents side by side, view two pages of the same document in Split View, or pair it with other apps in spaces across your entire system. To open a new window, drag any of the elements listed below to the side of your screen:
- the app icon from the dock
- documents from the library
- folders from the library
- individual pages from the document thumbnail view
- tabs from the tab-bar
You can also use the buttons in the library action menu or from the tab-bar to open a new window.

Do you guys have an ETA on this, or what’s the status? I love Goodnotes but the lack of this feature is a real drawback for me and apparently many others. Please give us an update!

Hello! It would be awesome to see this feature by the end of this year! I've been using GoodNotes for quite a while and often times, the same recurring thought comes to mind of how convenient it would be to see two pages at a time. Thanks!!!

Allow users to 'pin' Tabs to the tab bar so users can keep reference documents open and in the same place on the tab bar irrespective of whichever additional documents are opened, so that a frequently referenced document will stay in on place on the tab bar and be openable immediately without searching for it (by scrolling along opened tabs) or having to manually drag it around to a convenient position (since its position would be locked). Also the ability to differentiate this pinned tab from other open tabs via some visual method (color, tab name font weight, tab shape etc).

I algo agree with this! It’d be great to be able to split the screen, not only for the same document, bit laso for checking TWO DIFFERENT DOCUMENTS AT ONCE!!

It’s great that it’s planned to open 2 different notebooks side by side- but what about 2 facing pages of one notebook? For example, I like to create a bullet journal and have Today on one side and facing, a list to catch “Next” or “Don’t Forget.” Thanks!

Dissapointed this isn't a feature as when studying I would have my reading material open and make notes in my pad. Please add the option for multiple pages
