Implement a splitscreen option.
The splitscreens option allows the user to see two pages of one document at once. With this option the user can open an informative pdf on the one side while taking notes on a different sheet on the other side.
We’re excited to announce that we have completed this feature. It is now available in the update GoodNotes 5.3 for iPadOS (13.1).
With the update, we added full support for iPadOS’ multiple windows. It lets you do much more than viewing two documents side by side. To read everything you need to know about opening multiple documents, please visit goodnotes.com/ipad-os.
How to open a new window:
You can now open GoodNotes in multiple windows to view two documents side by side, view two pages of the same document in Split View, or pair it with other apps in spaces across your entire system. To open a new window, drag any of the elements listed below to the side of your screen:
- the app icon from the dock
- documents from the library
- folders from the library
- individual pages from the document thumbnail view
- tabs from the tab-bar
You can also use the buttons in the library action menu or from the tab-bar to open a new window.

Does anyone know how close we are to the update with this coming out? I find this extremely important and am thinking of switching over to notability since it can do this.

this would be amazing. Im a med student and frequently need to refer to my anatomy or path books to answer questions. I get really frustrated flicking back and forth!

Because this is not possible I have to use another notes program in split screen and then transfer the notes into woodnotes - Seeing two notebooks side by side is such an obvious thing to have - Please Please add this to GoodNotes' tool bag!

I agree that this is a necessary addition for the app. I use GoodNotes for uni study and wish i could annotate a PDF in one tab whilst taking notes in a notebook simultaneously. It is very disappointing that goodnotes does not allow me to view two tabs at once.

Please add two-page view in the next update. The iOS "Notes Writer" app does this rather elegantly. So, it can be done!"

It boggles me in 2018 with the amazing tech that simple options like page side by side are not available also an option to scroll vertically or horizontally? With all the technology such simple things should be a standard. I am looking to switch to Good notes but must have these features we should have to waite untill 2020 PLEASE HELP

instead of tabs, multitasking or having 2 notes displayed on one screen during landscape mode would be very helpful when working with 2 notes at the same time

Please add this ASAP so that one can dive in and use this app for theatrical and music production purposes. When working in production with a music score, directors and stage managers need to be able to see two pages at the same time of what they call their “production book” For example, even pages may show the musical score, while odd pages show theatrical renderings, staging notes, choreography, and 1 million other bits of vital info. It would be amazing to be able to do this on an iPad, sync it to the iCloud, and modernize things. Without this feature one is forced to drag a klunky printed production book around a theater or concert hall, sometimes the book is hundreds of pages...it's heavy.

What will also be useful is having goodnotes as a paper notebook, with 2 pages side by side (in landscape mode). Something similar to ibooks - one page in portrait mode and 2 pages in landscape mode.

yeah, when you put this to practise, it would be very helpful. otherwise it would be sufficient when you just add a future, which allows you to adjust to swip vertical or horizontal, without the 'add new page' function.
if you like, this could happen automatically, with that the workflow will be better!
