Implement a splitscreen option.
The splitscreens option allows the user to see two pages of one document at once. With this option the user can open an informative pdf on the one side while taking notes on a different sheet on the other side.
We’re excited to announce that we have completed this feature. It is now available in the update GoodNotes 5.3 for iPadOS (13.1).
With the update, we added full support for iPadOS’ multiple windows. It lets you do much more than viewing two documents side by side. To read everything you need to know about opening multiple documents, please visit goodnotes.com/ipad-os.
How to open a new window:
You can now open GoodNotes in multiple windows to view two documents side by side, view two pages of the same document in Split View, or pair it with other apps in spaces across your entire system. To open a new window, drag any of the elements listed below to the side of your screen:
- the app icon from the dock
- documents from the library
- folders from the library
- individual pages from the document thumbnail view
- tabs from the tab-bar
You can also use the buttons in the library action menu or from the tab-bar to open a new window.

Yes please, really want it, as feels like a proper note book then and can see more information.

Yes, it would be really great. I would love to use both my textbooks/articles and notebooks at the same time. Now I have to use also another app to this.

this is the same as another suggestion to split the screen in two

Same here. This function is maybe deciding if we will move on with Goodnotes in our Company or if we will stay with OneNote.

I 100% Agree! I would love to see a double tap feature to erase.

I think it's really a most needed feature. it doesn't get many votes perhaps because Goodnotes for Mac isn't very popular?

Brilliant - that'll be a huge leap in functionality! When is the next version coming?

Ability to put toolbar on left (or right) side of screen similar to INKredible will really speed up tool selection and note-taking !!!

When is the next version of GoodNotes going to be released? The split screen feature is really needed.

Could we get an update on when the version with this feature will be released? Lack of splitscreen is the biggest drawback of Goodnotes, in my opinion.

It is encouraging to know that this is likely in the next version of GoodNotes (per Moderator, May 26, 2017)... 2018 now... when is the next version of GoodNotes expected?

I use GoodNotes for meetings. Amending /marking up the paper we are discussing; it would be great to be able to make notes in Goodnote as well. Currently i use another note taking app and copy this into the Goodnote notebook at the of the meeting/session. This is double handling.

I need this too! To have a PDF open with the notebook is very important, but I have to keep my PDFs in a separate app to do this at the moment !

Like others have said, the Nebo line through gesture and NotesPlus scribble out are convenient. However, Nebo doesn't seem to do enough usability testing so their implementation is flawed. For instance, I get a lot of unwanted erasures when I cross x's and t's. NotesPlus implementation is even worse.
Be creative about the gesture. You don't have to follow Nebo or NotesPlus. Brainstorm. It should be easy and quick to do, but UNMISTAKABLE. (Experiment with strike through variants, crossing out, circling, retracing in reverse, taps, pressure, temporary "x" popup, etc.)
Make sure whatever gesture you choose, you NAIL IT. 1. Do your homework. Test it extensively internally to make sure it's annoyance free. 2. Have COMPLETE documentation, including video, and hints for doing it 100% reliably.

What I'd rather see, is scanning that turns a page of handwritten notes into a native Goodnotes document, as if they had been written in Goodnotes directly.
