Implement a splitscreen option.
The splitscreens option allows the user to see two pages of one document at once. With this option the user can open an informative pdf on the one side while taking notes on a different sheet on the other side.
We’re excited to announce that we have completed this feature. It is now available in the update GoodNotes 5.3 for iPadOS (13.1).
With the update, we added full support for iPadOS’ multiple windows. It lets you do much more than viewing two documents side by side. To read everything you need to know about opening multiple documents, please visit goodnotes.com/ipad-os.
How to open a new window:
You can now open GoodNotes in multiple windows to view two documents side by side, view two pages of the same document in Split View, or pair it with other apps in spaces across your entire system. To open a new window, drag any of the elements listed below to the side of your screen:
- the app icon from the dock
- documents from the library
- folders from the library
- individual pages from the document thumbnail view
- tabs from the tab-bar
You can also use the buttons in the library action menu or from the tab-bar to open a new window.

this would be great for the mac. seems like it would be simple to implement. the mac version is not so useful when this is missing.

What the heck is going on with this promise about "most likely available in the next version"??

Agreed, a highlighter tool that was able to draw straight line would be great appreciated on the mac. In the mean time I have found a work around of sorts. If you click on the "Select" button, then right click and drag the cursor along the text you wish to highlight, release the right click and then let click, there is an option to "Highlight Text". Not as handy as an ability to straight lines (or other shapes on the mac) but it is an quick fix. Hope that helps.

I bought this app to use as a bullet journal on my iPad — it would feel much more authentic (and be more useful for certain pages) if I could see two pages side by side when in landscape mode, as if i had my journal laid open in front of me

Yes, really would be beneficial to see more than one page at a time in landscape mode on my iPad Pro! ETA?

I requested this features almost two years ago. I can't understand why it is not implemented yet! This is what will make me go for Notability (that has that feature).

Note: My main use case is being able to view the earlier content of the "same document" on the other side.

I'm thinking about buying an iPad Pro for note taking and using Goodnotes and I am holding back until this feature comes out. Not being able to do this with Rocketbook everlast was a dealbreaker for me. Currently using lots of engineering paper and killing trees. Help me stop!

Concepts (another fantastic vector ink app) recognizes a two-finger-tap and a three-finger-tap gestures and lets the user configure them—e.g. two-finger-tap to undo, 3 to re-do. A multi-finger single tap would be better than a double-tap, as it is even quicker. I’d like these gestures to be mappable to at least the following behaviors: undo, redo, switch to eraser tool, do nothing (for those who find themselves triggering them accidentally). Nebo’s scratch-through is kitschy, but far from ideal.
