Implement a splitscreen option.
The splitscreens option allows the user to see two pages of one document at once. With this option the user can open an informative pdf on the one side while taking notes on a different sheet on the other side.
We’re excited to announce that we have completed this feature. It is now available in the update GoodNotes 5.3 for iPadOS (13.1).
With the update, we added full support for iPadOS’ multiple windows. It lets you do much more than viewing two documents side by side. To read everything you need to know about opening multiple documents, please visit goodnotes.com/ipad-os.
How to open a new window:
You can now open GoodNotes in multiple windows to view two documents side by side, view two pages of the same document in Split View, or pair it with other apps in spaces across your entire system. To open a new window, drag any of the elements listed below to the side of your screen:
- the app icon from the dock
- documents from the library
- folders from the library
- individual pages from the document thumbnail view
- tabs from the tab-bar
You can also use the buttons in the library action menu or from the tab-bar to open a new window.

This really would be helpful - to be able close ALL the tabs from the previous session.

Absolutely! Need to annotate textbook in one tab and make outline in another, dual tab windows side by side would be a astounding huge feature.

I am doing a lot of maths (I am a theoretical physicist). For this it is essential to be able to check the previous pages of THE SAME DOCUMENT. I suggest a feature that would enable splitting the screen into two for the same document.

I have both my notes and my textbooks inside of GoodNotes and I always have to switch between tabs to read and take down some notes. It would be incredibly helpful to have the textbook displayed on one side and my notes next to that.
The 'tabs'-feature was great leap in the right direction, but a side-by-side view would be even better! -

I edit two page spreads for print work all the time, and the content frequently crosses between the pages. For Good Notes to be my one-and-only editing app, I need this function. Thanks.

This would really be helpful. I have the same need as a student. Actually I have to export the notebook to another app and use split screen. This doubles the data volume on my devices.

Fantastic news! This will be VERY useful.
I have been using goodnotes every day for years (having tried pretty much every note taking app out there) and constantly refer people to goodnotes. Thx for your good work.

Let's make this happen for sure! I'm trying to learn another language and it would be nice to have the same PDF document open in both the language I'm learning, and English.

This would be amazing! Please implement asap. I like good notes but would consider switching if I could get this function elsewhere..

When giving a lecture, I would like to have the notes for projection and a document next to it (e.g. a pdf or other notes with my preparation) that is visible only on the iPad screen, but not to the audience.

Please do split screen for PDF and notes. I dont own an iPad that can do split screen, but you would safe me if I could open both at the same time just using one app.

Please Please Please!!! So I don't have to use other App to facilitate it. I'd love to just stick with One and the Only note taking app, Goodnotes!!
