Implement a splitscreen option.
The splitscreens option allows the user to see two pages of one document at once. With this option the user can open an informative pdf on the one side while taking notes on a different sheet on the other side.
We’re excited to announce that we have completed this feature. It is now available in the update GoodNotes 5.3 for iPadOS (13.1).
With the update, we added full support for iPadOS’ multiple windows. It lets you do much more than viewing two documents side by side. To read everything you need to know about opening multiple documents, please visit goodnotes.com/ipad-os.
How to open a new window:
You can now open GoodNotes in multiple windows to view two documents side by side, view two pages of the same document in Split View, or pair it with other apps in spaces across your entire system. To open a new window, drag any of the elements listed below to the side of your screen:
- the app icon from the dock
- documents from the library
- folders from the library
- individual pages from the document thumbnail view
- tabs from the tab-bar
You can also use the buttons in the library action menu or from the tab-bar to open a new window.

Have two notes open in split screen. This would allow for transcribing previous notes into a finalized document and planning the day based on notes of earlier meetings for increased productivity.
OR: Invent an entirely new class of notes which are time sensitive. Eg.: yesterdays/last weeks etc. notes gray out (when ‘time machine mode’ is toggled) unless edited/touched. When this mode is toggled off again, everything that hasn’t been updated gets deleted and the new spaces are filled in with the edited/new content automatically

Could you please make it possible to have the toolbar on the right or left side?
My cartilage is slowly wearing out, having my left hand positioned like a crawling spider on top of my ipad.Though considering there were suggestion for side toolbar since 2015, you guys clearly don't care about general health concerns of the public.

This is essential to me. I already purchased Notability, where this feature is implemented. But its not perfect, and i would like to use Goodnotes instead.

So... is this capability added to Goodnotes 5 or not? If this isn’t in 5 I have to assume it’s just not gonna happen.

Yes. This lacks in the current app.

Users have been requesting this since for several years. Come on GN...what’s the holdup? I’m switching to Notability as they have this EXTREMLY useful feature. I would return to GN if they would implement this!

PLEASE add this feature - I'm a graduate student and often need to take extensive notes on articles, re-work long physics problems to try and figure out my mistakes, work on two-page math problems, etc. My main study tactic is condensing my class notes into a single page for each unit/chapter. I go through all the notes I took in class and basically re-take them while also consulting the textbook. There's no way to do this with Goodnotes, which limits the ways I can use the app and how useful it is to me. A way to split the screen and look at two documents or two pages at once would add so much more utility.

I agree, more colour selection options would be very useful. I'd be happy with "more", but I'd really appreciate a mechanism to add an arbitrary number of colour presents to the pallette. That way, people who don't like a lot of colours don't have a large palette and those of us who like to colour code, can have big selection.
