"write neat and fast" handwriting practice templates
I'm in the process of creating timed handwriting practice sheets for note takes to be able to write neater and faster by practicing under a specified time limit so that they can take easier to read or neater notes while writing quickly during fast-paced lectures without having the need to rewrite or make them neater afterward by spending a lot of time or even you just don't want it to take too long just to copy down your notes in neater handwriting.
I would love to know what do you think of it?
I've created a sample practice temple (see the image below) that some users have already used.

Detect duplicate documents (especially on import)
TL;DR: Sometimes when bulk-importing, duplicates might be accidentally imported. Catch these potential duplicates and query if we still want to import.
When performing bulk imports, I occasionally have duplicates present (due to the way my main import source structures PDFs). This ultimately means that what I think might be a unique file actually already exists in GoodNotes. Ideally, this could work at the PDF level, but may only be easily-done on a fuzzy-name basis.
e.g. say the file I'm importing has the name "Mind Games 40c0de54-120f-0d77-9ae5-e96083fb1f9b" – while the UUID present (the 40c0de54-120f-0d77-9ae5-e96083fb1f9b) is very likely to be unique, I may later import a PDF named "Mind Games: Game Engines as an Architecture for Intuitive Physics"... both of these files actually have the same underlying PDF.
In the case of a filename based duplicate detector, it would ask if I wanted to import "Mind Games: Game Engines as an Architecture for Intuitive Physics" because I already have a note named "Mind Games 40c0de54-120f-0d77-9ae5-e96083fb1f9b" since "Mind Games" (especially because of the order/capitalization) could quite likely be the same file.
In the case of a PDF-based duplicate detection, it should be somewhat straightforward to compare the SHA256 of the original PDF backing "Mind Games 40c0de54-120f-0d77-9ae5-e96083fb1f9b" to the incoming PDF named "Mind Games: Game Engines as an Architecture for Intuitive Physics" and if they're the same, there's clearly an overlap, so ask if we still want to import.

Texting box should be like those writing tools
It is VERY ANNOYING for me to use text box if we can’t save our favorites colors like what we are doing for those writing tools.
I HATE to change the size and color and the style EVERYTIME!1 vote -

[Request] Add "Sticky Note" insertion into text documents.. Add option for easier-on-the-eyes tinting for text documents.
Hi,
So I haven't used the app consistently in about a year.. Recently I've began using it again. I've uploaded a text i'm studying in pdf form. While I am studying I am taking notes and I thought how nice it would be to include these features. The tinting would be nice for prolonged staring at the screen while reading (Similar to what I think kindle's used to do, maybe). I know I can have blank pages with yellow but, I would recommend adding the option of tinting documents such as my pdf with hundreds of pages with walls of text to read.
For the "Sticky Note", maybe something similar is possible and i'm no longer keen on the app anymore.. but instead of creating an entire new page for notes after a page of text from my text book, I recommend creating a tiny sticky note I can stick anywhere on the page I am currently on. This sticky note would open up into a bigger size (perhaps real sticky note size) when tapped. This would be convenient on this type of PDF because it would allow for organized note taking and annotations that do not obstruct the original text i'm studying.. which somewhat even doubles as a method of flashcard studying. The colors can be customized or just a few options that would resemble real stickys.
Just a thought that would be helpful and further allow this app to lend itself to the perfect blend of old-school-new-school note-taking and studying. I hope you consider!

customized cursor to show where apple pencil is hovering on surface
I use the app to teach mathematics and computer science lectures to college students in online mode. One very important feature that is missing at present is that students have to use their attention to determine WHERE on the slide or notebook I am presently writing (i.e. they need to determine where new writing is showing up). Whereas, in a physical classroom, it's easy to see where the professor is and where in the blackboard he/she is writing or modifying a diagram. It would be nice if one could have a big red arrow show up wherever I am writing or annotating, so that students can focus all their attention on the important concepts being covered (and not have to figure out where the new writing is showing up). Currently, this can be done on android tablets such as S6 Lite, where apps such as Pentastic let you choose a custom image (such as a red arrow) for the cursor, and one can then teach using note taking apps (such as Squid). If I am annotating a slide or need to point to something I've written earlier, I don't need to click on an icon to switch on the laser pointer - I only need to hover the S-pen over that writing, and the customized cursor (which also functions as a laser pointer) automatically shows up there. Thanks!

Allow for animations to be made
For example, I want to see how a sorting algorithm works but it’s hard to see the steps by making a bunch of graphs. So being able to make a small animation will help visualize how something works without having to create a bunch of pages

Double-tap and hold to scrub through undo
Undoing a written word or two is a monstrous pain under the double-two-finger-tap system. It might be 10 or 15 strokes that all need undoing, and pounding away on the ipad screen with a double-tap for each individual stroke takes way too long and is cumbersome.
How about: double-tap and HOLD enters an "undo scrub" mode, where you can drag left and right to move through undo history with a simple two-finger swipe gesture, instead of dozens of fingertip-bruising taps? This would be a marvelous improvement to writing flow.

Flash cards are too small when studying
Flash cards are too small. On the iPhone, I can barely see the print/diagram and in landscape mode it's nearly impossible. On the iPad, they're large enough that I can make out the diagram.
The flash card is not taking advantage of the full width of the screen in study mode. It's using the bottom half of the screen to display the answer instead of flipping the card.
I attached a PDF showing the screens for both the iPhone and iPad. I, also, took screenshots of another flashcard app to compare and contrast.

standard picture size
I would really enjoy a standard size for imported pictures from my MacBook. For Example imports could always take up the space of 10 Blocks or so. This would really help, because right now I always have to adjust the picture size manually.

Typing: type text smoothly like in One Note or Notion
GoodNotes is a killer app for taking notes by hand but it’s really weak in the typing department.
Things that would make GoodNotes perfect:
- pre-set text formatting (title, headings, subheadings, normals text)
- text alignment (right, left, center, etc.)
- lists (bullet, number, checkbox)
- toggles (like in Notion)GoodNotes is wonderful for annotating PDFs, pictures and books and for drawing diagrams. However, it’s impossible to write all my notes by hand so I have to use Notion for typing and just insert the pictures I annotated or diagrams I drew in GoodNotes into Notion. So I now use Notion as my note taking app and GoodNotes is basically useless. I can do everything I do in GoodNotes for free with Apple’s own apps. I can annotate books or documents in Apple Books or Documents, draw on screenshots directly after I’ve taken them or in Photos, and I can draw diagrams in Notes.
The reason why I want to be able to type in GoodNotes is because I’d like to have an all-in-one note taking app. I’d pay for a new big upgrade with good text typing capabilities. I would stick to Notion but it also has its flaws (no back up to a drive, webpage-based app so needs WiFi at all times, things which probably won’t change) so I’m hoping GoodNotes will improve...
A lot of people are starting to use keyboards with their iPads, including myself, Notion is becoming increasingly popular and Apple has been improving their apps too. GoodNotes is still the best app for people who write notes by hand but it could be the best note taking app for everyone...
Anyways, I don’t know if the GoodNotes Team will ever see or implement this as there are so many suggestions but I’d like to thank the Team for all the hard work they’ve put in to create the GoodNotes we currently have :)

Recall/Study Mode (active recall via hiding words/filling in the blanks)
It would be great if there was a mode wherein all the text that you highlight (using a specific tool designated for this mode), would be hidden (the text disappears but you see a blank line in its place). When you click on the blank line again, the word will reappear (then clicking another time will make the word disappear) -- basically it's becomes a mini flash card/ fill in the blank option!
Also, this would only apply when you turn the mode on. Once its turned off the file is back to normal/original form and you won't see which words were "highlighted" during study mode.
This could be extremely useful for active recall when studying, which I think many goodnotes users would appreciate! Also this isn't yet being done by many of goodnotes top competitors so it would really set them apart <3

Back to reading a document
A "back to reading" option when browsing in the goodnotes files system would be most appreciated.
So say I leave a document I was reading in order to browse through the GoodNotes system, it would be nice to have a button which would send me back to where I was reading when I left the document.
