Adding a small box with annotation in a highlight.
For example, when I highlight “carboxyl” I can click on the highlight, and BANG—a picture of carboxyl (that I drew in the annotation) pops up. Not only that, but in a pdf, when I highlight a text I can create my own comments in the small annotation box.
This resembles closely to the google docs Suggestion tool, except Goodnotes!

Read only / Edit mode keyboard shortcut
A keyboard shortcut to toggle between read-only and edit modes. (⌘R perhaps?)
For both the Mac and iPad versions
I use a planner with hyperlinks and frequently have to toggle between the two modes, as the hyperlinks are easier to use in Read-only mode

Being able to share link of notes with non-goodnotes users
Not all students are goodnotes/apple users. As teachers we should get the opportunity to share link with people so that changes made to that document gets uodated via that link. We don't have to export documents multiple times.

Smoother undo experience and UI feedback
The way undo has to be doubled tapped EACH time is inconvenient and sometimes undos too much because the system recognizes too many double taps or the timing of the app recognizing each double tap after another is not accurate, leading to triple taps or two double taps to get ONE undo. I just end up using the toolbar. Please review experience for procreates multiple undo ux&ui because 1. Screen doesn't jump and 2. I only have to tap once after the first tap recognition.
Make it recognize the two fingers and make it single tap please...way more convenient!Same for redo.

Use of Apple Pencil in Flashcard studying mode
It would be great if you can use the apple pencil in studying mode to take notes for more complex answers or drawings.
You could also use this feature to learn the structure of scientific models by leaving some information out at the front of the flashcard, fill them in and then compare with the solution after flipping the card. It would also be possible to put tasks like "Draw the xy-model" on the front page and the corrrect model on the back of the flashcard.
To implement this solution a bigger display of the card would be helpful.19 votes -

New function lasso tool
I would suggest another function for the lasso tool which makes it possible to chance the font size of the selected handwritten text without enlarging the whole text.

Remove Unlimited Undo to Decrease Interface Lag
I've noticed that the interface begins to lag when I've been drawing on the same file for a while (I use an iPad pro with an Apple Pencil 2). It lags in at least three ways:
- Drawing new lines
- Erasing lines
- Scrolling up and down in the file
I can eliminate the lag completely if I close the file and re-open it. Also, of course, after closing the file and re-opening it I can't undo any of the previous strokes. Thus, it's reasonable to expect that the reason for the lag is because of appending strokes to some data structure in the background without limit, and after drawing on the file for a while it spends too much time modifying the data structure.
If this is actually the reason, the cure is simple: remove unlimited undo! Just put a limit on how many steps you can undo with pen strokes (like 100 or something, I would never hit the undo button more than 10 times anyway).

GESTURES
Enable Apple gestures (think Procreate). Having a fixed toolbar (which doesn’t always respond to Apple Pencil 2 on iPad Pro!) is poor UI design for iPad users.

PAGE NAMES
Please allow page naming. In larger documents it’s so hard to navigate and the outline feature is useless because it can’t be re-ordered. The only way I currently know of is to export to Acrobat, re-order the pages and bring back into Goodnotes but then any annotations are flattened and text becomes uneditable.

Read out loud selected text or entire page
I have dyslexia and it would be wonderful if I could listen to the notes I take. Right now I have to copy it and paste is a page that could read it for me. So it would help me a lot if an option for reading out loud is added

Cloud
Please allow to offload folders oder large documents from the ipad and just let them be saved in the icloud. So you can save more storage on the device an still have access to the documents that you dont youse a lot (e.g. Textbooks or old Powerpoint slides).
Just like Apple does it with their icloud documents on a mac.

fill screen with any paper size
When you select a paper template of any size e.g. A4, letter, etc. by default have the paper fill the screen width so it's not necessary to expand it. I can double-tap the paper template and it fits screen size but having it fit without double-tap would save so much time when you change from portrait to landscape and back again. Thanks. PS Notability has this feature.

More than 3 color options in the tool bar
I use more than 3 colors in my notes, so I constant have to switch which ones are selected in the tool bar. I’d like to have at least 5 different colors available in the tool bar without having to click one and change it, then change it back once I need another color.

Apply deep learning for handwriting
Dear GoodNotes
Hi, I'm an university student who is using your application very often.
It is a bit shameful to say but to be honest, my handwriting isn't that good.
So I hope the good notes automatically change my handwriting into Text.
If you apply deep learning system for each users, AI will understand and change someone's handwriting to Text even if his handwriting is barely understandable in human's view . And also, users can customize their own AI system.
It must improve and reduce misconversion for each users.
I hope you consider about it
Best regards

Paper sizes
Can we please add more paper sizes such as A4, B4, and JIS B5?
I'm a university student who uses B5 sized paper for my notes and I would like to print my GoodNotes pages out onto my regular B5 paper.
Thank you

Automatically Create Outlines based on Highlights/Annotations
It would be a huge time saver if somehow the app would automatically index any sort of annotation to either the front of the doc to summarize certain chapters or documents. This could effectively summarize the ideas and create an outline of the doc so that one would not have to go back to find different highlights etc.
