I’ve wanted something like this too, mostly because the regular highlighter gets buried under darker pen colors and ends up looking kinda washed out. A stronger or adjustable opacity option would save me from layering strokes like a goblin trying to make neon happen. Even a toggle for a thicker, punchier highlight would do the trick. The current workaround of changing pen color every time just slows me down.

I had the same headache bouncing between my iPad and my Windows laptop, so I get why this sync gap feels like hitting a brick wall. The one thing that helped me a bit was keeping my notebooks in smaller chunks so exporting and reimporting wasn't such a slog. Not ideal, but it kept me sane while waiting for proper cross-platform sync. If they nail real cloud sync, it would smooth things out big time.

I’ve felt the same way and ended up using a mix of app-level lock plus keeping certain notebooks in a separate local-only folder. It’s a bit of a patchwork, but it keeps stuff out of sync until I’m cool with it being on the cloud. Some folks also import PDFs into password-protected containers before adding them, though that’s a bit of a hassle.

I’ve been wishing for something like this too, mostly because bouncing between apps breaks my focus. Even a lightweight mini-browser tucked into a sidebar would do the trick. I use split view as a workaround, but it feels like using duct tape instead of a real fix. If they ever add this, I hope it plays nice with Apple Pencil so grabbing quick references feels smooth and not like a juggling act.

Group rearranging would save me so much time too. I’ve tried using long folder names as a workaround, but it gets messy fast and feels like trying to label moving cats. A simple drag and drop to reorder categories or stack them would clean things up in a snap. Even being able to collapse big groups would make scrolling feel less like a workout.
Jumping in on this older post because I totally understand how essential a smooth typing experience is! Has anyone found a workaround or alternative while we wait for an update from GoodNotes? Maybe using a stylus with an on-screen keyboard app could help in the meantime? Would love to hear if anyone’s tried something new that works well!
