[Folders Navigation] Collapsible Sidebar in Library / File Tree Overview
I’d love to see a persistent side navigation panel inside GoodNotes.
Right now, switching between folders or notebooks requires repeatedly pressing the back arrow and exiting screens. It would be much more efficient if there were a collapsible sidebar that lets users quickly access folders, recent notebooks, or favorites while staying inside their current note.
This would help maintain focus during studying and make navigation feel more fluid, similar to sidebar navigation in messaging or file management apps.

Option to undo closed tab and pin certain open documents
I have two similar requests:
I am a private tutor so I usually have a couple of standard documents open on my iPad all the time (e.g. PDF of the periodic table). When I close the app (not minimise) or when I press the x button by mistake, I need to re locate it in my folders. I know I can 'favourite' it but it would be so much easier if there is an option to pin it (sort of like in Safari/other web browsers where you can pin open windows). That way it will always open when I open…

Larger previews in miniature mode
A function where you can enlargen the miniatures in the miniature view mode would be handy. That way it is easier to find the correct page which you are looking for.
Perhaps through a preview mode for the individual pages, or better: a setting to see the pages in different patterns e.g. 3 pages next to each other, 2 pages next to each other or single page.
This would come especially handy for flashcards as well, as those are very hard to organise in the miniature mode.

Scroll to current page in Miniature View
As of now, when you open the Miniature View of a Notebook, the pages are shown from the very start.
I suggest an option to either show the current page first or a button/option to auto-scroll to the current page.
Whenever I work with 300+ flashcards and just want to change the order of a card in the miniature view, I have to scroll a long time to find the current card which I am looking for. It's also very easy to miss when you have a large amount of cards/pages, since you only have the thin blue lining of…

Add a Pin Navigation Feature in Infinite Canvas Mode.
I would like to suggest adding a “Pin” feature to Infinite Canvas mode. As notes expand across a large canvas, it becomes increasingly difficult to relocate specific sections without repeatedly zooming and dragging around. This is especially frustrating when trying to find important content written earlier.
A Pin feature would allow users to mark specific locations on the canvas and quickly navigate back to them. Ideally, users could place pins anywhere, assign optional names (e.g., “Key Concept” or “Meeting Summary”), and access a panel listing all pins for one-click navigation.
This addition would significantly improve navigation efficiency, reduce time spent…

Quick view
I’m a frequent Goodnotes user on macOS and rely heavily on it to manage and review a large number of PDF documents.
One feature I strongly miss is the macOS “Quick Look” preview functionality — where pressing the space bar instantly displays a full-size preview of a selected file without fully opening it. This allows for extremely fast navigation through document lists and makes it easy to quickly inspect content before deciding to open a file.
In Goodnotes for Mac, the only available preview is the thumbnail view, which is helpful but too limited for efficiently scanning document contents when…

Please enable the Zoom In / Zoom Out options on the MacOS Desktop App
By default, macOS allows us to use 'Command +' to zoom in and 'Command -' to zoom out of any app. This seems to be disabled on the Goodnotes app. Please try to enable this, it helps a ton on scaled displays.

Squeeze Toolbar should always be on top
I think that the "Squeeze" Toolbar should always be on top layer of UI. Now that when you use the lasso tool it auto pops up the the UI bar. If I use squeeze since that was the last action I took that should be the UI element that I see.
Hopefully this is an easy fix.

Setup Logitech Creative Console for Goodnotes
Logitech Creative Console is a device that is programmable for navigating apps i.e. Adobe, Photoshop, Zoom etc. However there isn't an available template for Goodnotes, it can be programmed by each individual user, however it would be fantastic if one were available for all Goodnotes users.

page browsing by simple tapping instead of swiping
Swiping takes more time and effort for browsing through a document as compared to, e.g., tapping.
In many documents, I see an empty space to the left and right of the page. Couldn‘t this be used to allow tapping to effect immediate page browsing?

[Import] Preselection of import option
The last update brought up the new window which comes up when importing a new pdf document or picture. In that windows you can select if you want to open the document in a new file or put it into an existing notebook. It would be great if you can add a setting possibility to preselect one of these options. I'm never using the possibility to import as a new document but with the new update I'm forced to make a few more clicks now which is annoying.

Swipeable Menus
To making changing between the different menus (i. e. between pen settings, eraser settings) easier and less of a reach, being able to swipe between tool menus to choose different settings would be convenient. For instance, assuming the menu is on the left of the screen and we’re currently on the eraser menu, swiping left from the menu to the edge of the screen (1A) would go to the pen menu(1B). Alternatively swiping right from the edge of the screen to the menu from the eraser settings (2A) would go to text menu (2B). I’ve attached screenshots with arrows for…

Make the pop-up menu that has the font size, color, format a floating menue.
Make the pop-up menu for font color, size, and format float. Whenever I want to adjust or edit a text, the menu box pops up and gets in my way of what I want to change. I flip my screen to try to get around it but the menu is still in the way. I can’t drag it to move it.

Permanent tab bar
When I have a document open, the tab bar shows a tab for each open document. Also, the Home tab appears on the left in the tab bar. When I click on it, the tab bar with the open documents disappears. To get back to the open documents, I then have to open a document again.
It would be easier if in the Home view (a) the tab bar remained permanently at the top (so that the Home view is just another tab), or (b) there was a shortcut called “Open documents” on the left.

Proposal to Improve the Template Change Feature (+ Add “Replace Page” and “Replace File” Functions)
Proposal to Improve the Template Change Feature (+ Add “Replace Page” and “Replace File” Functions)
Currently, Goodnotes does not offer a feature that allows users to replace pages in the same way as a “Change PDF” function. While there is a template change feature, it is limited to Goodnotes’ built-in templates and note-style formats, and requires importing content into Goodnotes first.
In many cases, there are situations where a page needs to be replaced—for example, when a lecture material contains typos or when an updated version of the file is provided. Therefore, it would be highly useful to have a…

Add a way to close file navigator and return to document tabs
There are two view modes in Goodnotes:
- File navigation
- Documents tabs (the documents already open)
We can switch from 2 to 1.
But for some baffling reason there is no way to simply switch from 1 to 2. Instead there is only the contrived way of having to open any file in order to return to 2.
I do not know why Goodnote's UI/UX team has been thinking all these years that that be an okay solution. No other programme does this and it is counterintuitive.
Could you please add this? It's so easy to do. E.g. you could add…

button to jump from Home Screen to Tab View
Goodnotes often opens unexpectedly on the Home Screen (at least after every update).
Please add a button to the Home Screen so that users can easily return directly to Tab View (i.e., the actual working environment).
It's really annoying to have to select an already open file every time just to get back to Tab View.3 votes -

Basic keyboard shortcuts for closing tabs, creating new files/folders, etc.
I would like to see some basic keyboard shortcuts implemented, examples are in the title. Most annoyingly Cmd + W doesn't close a tab but rather exits the document and leaves it open.
Below are some suggestions for shortcuts (shortcuts marked with '*' can be considered extra):
Window/Tab management:
- Cmd + W: closes the current tab
- *Cmd + Opt + W: closes all tabs
- Cmd + Shift + Esc: exits document view
- Cmd + Opt + Left/Right: Go to previous/next tabFile management:
- Cmd + Opt + N: Creates new File
- Cmd + Opt…1 voteAdminGoodnotes (Moderator, GoodNotes) responded
