Edit Word and PowerPoint files in app
A lot of apps (other than the MS Office suite) out there can edit Word (.docx) and PowerPoint (.pptx) files.
Given that a lot of class notes are given by professors in these formats, having the ability to modify them within the app would allow users to replace MS Office apps for basic note editing work.
I already keep all PDF docs in GoodNotes. Having the option to properly import and edit Word and PowerPoint files here would make it much more convenient.
This would make GoodNotes more attractive for working professionals as well.
Hope to see this feature sometime…

Automatically scroll to, and highlight, outline closest to current page in document view area when opening outline section of page grid view
When opening the page grid view, and clicking on the outline section (as opposed to thumbnails section), it would be awesome if the outline section would automatically scroll down (and highlight/bolden) the outline that is closest to (but before or on) the current page the user is editing/looking at in the documents view page. Currently, every time the outline section of the page grid view is selected, the list shows the very top of the outline list, and the user has to scroll down to outlines that are relevant to the current page, as opposed to the outline section automatically…

PC Notetaking
Currently, I have to use several different apps to take my notes and go through the annoying process of sharing back and forth via Google Drive or some other convoluted method.
Please include PC compatibility for note-taking (not just viewing) and a cloud sync to avoid issues with transferring notes back and forth. See sites such as Canva that already do this. Honestly, sometimes I just use Canva for taking notes since at least I can control text formatting, grouping and locking, and cloud sync.

Insert/copy image to comment
It would be great if we can insert images to the comment box just like text.

Erase typed text, PDF text, images, scans, etc.
The Eraser Tool is used to erase only pen & highlighter strokes. There should be a separate option for allowing us to erase PDFs or slides when importing something like lecture notes that may have some unnecessary notes or writing.

Area to rest hand when writing on the edge of the document
Having extra space to either side of the document that you can scroll over into so that when you're writing on the edge, you have a place to rest your hand.
For me, I'm right-handed, and writing near the right-hand edge is always hard since there's nowhere to rest my hand, so it'd be nice to have extra space to the sides6 votes -
Title, Header, Body Presets
Google Docs has options to change the presets for each section (title, header, body, etc.)
We use different fonts and sizes (sometimes colors) for each part of our notes, so adding this feature may be beneficial!
Text Styles may also be the correct verbiage

Moving pages within the same document
When you want to move pages within the same document you have to click on it and scroll through the thumbnail until you get it to where you would like to move it. I think there should be an option to type in the page number you would like to move it to, and then the page that is already located on that page number automatically moves below the newly moved page.

Toggle function that hides part of note
It would be fantastic if there was a feature that hides a part of a note into a toggle button, which will expand the hided section when clicked, similar to the toggle function in notion. Perhaps the lasso tool could be used to select the content that is to be hided into toggle. This would tremendously boost the ability for active recall while reviewing through notes, without the need of creating flashcards, or using other apps that has the toggle feature.

Focus Mode
I love reading and studying on goodnotes but the only downside is while reading is immersive thanks to full screen. Writing introduces an unnecessary number of button clicks to start writing, and distracts from the material
If there was a Focus Mode, which was full screen and only allowed writing in one stroke type and erasing using the Apple Pencil. That would drastically improve my focus and ability to study.

Support iOS/iPadOS native Low Data Mode
GoodNotes documents can get quite large over time. Synchronizing (and backing up) them on constantly uses ridicules amounts of data (sometimes up to 1GB in a single day).
Using GoodNotes in school, this poses a big problem, as we currently don't have working WiFi. Connecting my iPad to my iPhone's Personal Hotspot is always a story of force closing GoodNotes, connecting to the Hotspot, doing whatever, disconnecting and relaunching GoodNotes as I have a limited amount of high speed cellular data.To solve this, GoodNotes could support iOS native Low Data Mode, which users can set system wide on a…

PowerPoint pdf with note section
An easy way to upload pdf with powerpoint slides on it so that it creates a few lines underneath or next to the slide when uploading it to GoodNotes. That way we can write our notes during a lecture next to the slide instead of cramping al of the information on the actual slide itself.

Ability to write with Apple Pencil in “Comments” instead of typing
it’s a great function especially when you are running out Of space on ur page.
I have a suggestion, here we are typing to add notes. Wouldn’t it be nice if we were just allowed to write on the black dialog box that opens up, straight with our apple pencils? As most of us will be using our Apple Pencil to take notes.6 votes -
Identification Tags for Flashcards
I love the flashcard feature in Good Notes! But, I have an idea for how to make it more user-friendly. What if you could put 'tags' on certain cards? For example, in my bio flashcards, I would love to tag which chapters the card is from (e.g., "Ch. 1", "Ch. 2", "Ch. 3"). Then when I launch the flashcard feature, I can select which tags I would like to review. If I feel comfortable with the content from chapter 1, I would leave those cards out. You could also tag cards by their level of difficulty, kind of question (true/false,…

Outline/ Stroke for Text
I really wish they would add to their text options a stroke/outline. This would be especially helpful for headings. You can duplicate writing, change the colour and size but trying to line it up never gives a perfect outline.

Archive page in notebook
In the pages view, when clicking the arrow on a page, would be great to add a new feature "Archive". This sends the current page to the last page of the notebook and slightly dims it, or adds an icon indicating it is archived.

Presentation mode in split screen
I use GoodNotes for teaching (and it‘s great for that). However I‘d love widgets like timers for students. I use classroomscreen.com for timers and soundlevel sensors, which are oddly specific requirements for teachers. So I don‘t think features like these will be implemented.
If I could use the presentation mode while in splitscreen, I could show timers/other widgets on one side, while not losing space in my GoodNotes document. Also I don‘t want students to see messages popping up on my screen.6 votes -
Pomodoro Option
a pomodoro timer ( be it stopwatch or custom timer with breaks ) within the app.
when the timer starts it blocks all the other apps and only lets you use goodnotes and allowed apps.6 votes -
Select which note cards to study
It would be amazing if you could select which notecards to study. Sometimes, you only need to study a few.

Allow external developers the ability to write plugins.
It would be very helpful for an API of some sort to be exposed, so developers could make various plugins.
A few ideas:
- Programmable notes (Useful for maths - insert difficult sigma sums, calculations etc)
- Ability to tap into handwriting recognition (recognise chemicals, equations, etc)
- Siri/ shortcut support
- Custom shape snapping
- ThemesI'm sure there are more things developers could do with this ability. Take VSCode for instance. Granted it was built from the beginning to be easily modified, but their plugin ecosystem is incredible.
