Write in Place
Write in Place makes the page automatically shift to the left while writing, so your hand can stay almost in the same position. It does not matter where on the page you begin writing. As soon as you write a letter or a word, the system measures how far your pen moves to the right. The page does not move during the stroke itself, but every time you lift the pen, it immediately shifts to the left by exactly that amount.
This is especially important for cursive writing: if you write a whole word in one continuous motion, the page…

Option to Customize Thumbnails Per Row in Page Navigator
Hello GoodNotes Team,
I have a small feature request regarding the page navigator.
On my previous 12.9-inch iPad, the page thumbnails were displayed four per row. I organized many of my bookmarked pages assuming this four-per-row layout.
After switching to a 13-inch iPad, the navigator now displays five thumbnails per row. Because of this, the layout of my bookmarked pages has been disrupted. The rows I organized are now mixed, which makes it difficult to recognize them at a glance.
It would be very helpful if users could customize the number of thumbnails per row (for example, choosing four instead…

Subject: Zapier Integration Request - Automate GoodNotes Workflows
Hi GoodNotes team,
I'm a fan of your app and would love to integrate it with Zapier to automate my workflows. Specifically, I'd like to:
Create new GoodNotes notebooks/documents automatically when triggered by events in other apps (like our job management system)
Organize notes based on job details (client name, job ID, etc.)
Optionally export or sync GoodNotes content to cloud storage
Do you have plans to launch a Zapier integration? If so, when might this be available? If not, is there an API or webhook I could use in the meantime?…

[Study Sets] Add Timer-Based Auto-Flip
Open Practice should have a timer and auto flip function.
Scenario:
You want a quick run through of the material but remain accountable. You start the timer. You get 2 minutes to look at the question and then it flips to the answer. It refreshes your memory without allowing you to skip thinking. Plus its hands free.2 votes -
Add a Pin Navigation Feature in Infinite Canvas Mode.
I would like to suggest adding a “Pin” feature to Infinite Canvas mode. As notes expand across a large canvas, it becomes increasingly difficult to relocate specific sections without repeatedly zooming and dragging around. This is especially frustrating when trying to find important content written earlier.
A Pin feature would allow users to mark specific locations on the canvas and quickly navigate back to them. Ideally, users could place pins anywhere, assign optional names (e.g., “Key Concept” or “Meeting Summary”), and access a panel listing all pins for one-click navigation.
This addition would significantly improve navigation efficiency, reduce time spent…

Quick view
I’m a frequent Goodnotes user on macOS and rely heavily on it to manage and review a large number of PDF documents.
One feature I strongly miss is the macOS “Quick Look” preview functionality — where pressing the space bar instantly displays a full-size preview of a selected file without fully opening it. This allows for extremely fast navigation through document lists and makes it easy to quickly inspect content before deciding to open a file.
In Goodnotes for Mac, the only available preview is the thumbnail view, which is helpful but too limited for efficiently scanning document contents when…

European math notations
The math features are awesome, saving some time not needing to use the manual calculator. However, in Europe we use comma instead of points for decimals and the math tools sometimes struggles with that and interprets decimal numbers as vectors or coordinates. Please add support for European math notations.

Rotate draw and hold/more nuanced lasso tool
Hi GoodNotes team,
I use GoodNotes heavily for planning and note-taking, and I’ve noticed a frustrating inconsistency with shapes.
When I draw an oval using the Pen tool with “draw & hold” (auto-shape), it sometimes snaps into place at an angle. However, when I select it, there’s no rotate handle or rotate option—so I can’t straighten it without deleting and redrawing.
In contrast, an oval created with the Shape tool does include a rotate handle. This results in two shapes that look identical but behave very differently, which can be confusing during fast daily use.

Fix Timeline Bugs
Since the introduction of the GoodNotes 6 New Experience, Audio Recording began exhibiting several workflow-breaking bugs.
Originally, upon starting playback in a note, the timeline would open. Now that does not happen, costing me minutes.
Originally, I could pause playback and then take notes, which would then be correlated to that moment in the playback. In other words, I could hold down on the new text and continue audio playback.
Now, whenever I write notes and audio is paused, the timeline jumps to 0:00.
Please fix this.

Automatic Handwriting enhancement / Erase and Tags
Hello,
Would it be possible to add an automatic handwriting enhancement feature, similar to the one offered by Apple Note?
And also to be able to erase by long-pressing with the Apple Pencil, like in Notability, for example.
These two features would be a fantastic addition to Goodnotes!
Another thing: a tag system for finding files more efficiently.
Thank you in advance to the Goodnotes development team if they read this message.
Have a good day!2 votes -
Natural Switching Between Handwriting and Typing Without Tool Changes
In my study and note-taking workflow, I naturally switch between handwriting and typing. While GoodNotes allows adding a typing block, the current experience feels too simple and not fully integrated with the handwritten document, which makes the transition less practical during real study sessions.
A more natural interaction could greatly improve this experience: writing with the Apple Pencil would continue to produce handwriting anywhere on the page, while tapping the screen with a finger would instantly open the keyboard and allow typing directly at that location—without manually switching tools or modes.
This fluid “pen writes, finger types” interaction would remove…

pdf
It would be great if PDF files could be imported without becoming a separate page, but rather so that they appear on the interface similar to notes and can be resized.
For example, you could insert additional PDFs into a school script that provide further information on the topic and can be stored there.
This way, the PDFs can be minimised for storage and then enlarged for reading.2 votes -
LOCKING ITEMS IS A START, BUT... NEEDS IMPROVEMENT!
Recently, a "lock object" feature was introduced which is AMAZING, thank you. However, as others have noted, sometimes a whole page is an image (say a form that you're filling out, working with other little images or handwriting on top of it). We're all doing it, I'm sure you don't need a picture. It's great that I can lock the base layer, but still EVEN IF I've already sent it to the back, if I select it, it visually brings it front and now I can't see the objects on top. This defeats most of the benefit of having it…

UI Fixes on iPad
Hello GoodNotes Team,
I’m writing to share some UX feedback based on frequent, everyday use of GoodNotes on iPad. All of the points below stem from a common issue: tool discoverability and predictability, especially for power users who rely on muscle memory.
- Inconsistent context menu ordering When selecting content, the context menu (Copy, Paste, Duplicate, etc.) changes order depending on context. For example, “Copy” sometimes appears near the top and other times much lower in the list. Because these are high-frequency actions, the inconsistency makes the interface feel unpredictable and slows down routine workflows.
A fixed order—or ideally user-configurable ordering—would…

Setup Logitech Creative Console for Goodnotes
Logitech Creative Console is a device that is programmable for navigating apps i.e. Adobe, Photoshop, Zoom etc. However there isn't an available template for Goodnotes, it can be programmed by each individual user, however it would be fantastic if one were available for all Goodnotes users.

Adding new node or handle to existing shape
When drawing shapes goodnotes creates nodes or handles to allow you to adjust the shape, however you cannot then add a new node/handle to the shape.
For example, if I draw a triangle, and then want to change it to a 4 sided shape, I have to delete the shape and redraw.
When drawing complex shapes, this is time consuming and frustrating.
Please can you add the option to add new nodes (or handles) to existing shapes?2 votes
