[Toolbar] Make the New Floating Toolbar Optional / Revert to Old Toolbar
The latest update introduced an obnoxious and distracting floating toolbar below the primary toolbar, taking up more space and reducing the amount of room there is to actually write on the document. Further, it’s shorter in width, so you have to scroll more to find different highlighter colors, pen options, etc.
The new toolbar offers LESS functionality than before and I didn’t see anyone complaining or asking for it to be overhauled for everyone. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Please introduce a toggle where you can choose whether you want this new toolbar or the old one, as it’s fine if it’s an option but the old toolbar that a lot of people liked should also be an option still.

Yes, I absolutely agree. The new Toolbar and the loss of its Bookmarks icon are among the worst decisions ever made by Goodnotes developers. It benefits no one. Please allow the user to revert back to version 6.

I agree. The developers seem to think all change is good ... or at least helps keep their jobs.
The completely worst example is what they have done to the Bookmarks icon which was placed visibly in the upper right of the Toolbar, now it's removed to a pull-down menu in the Sidebar. So what before took one click now takes two (click 3-dots, click Add to Favorites). And before you could tell immediately if a page was already bookmarked by seeing the icon as red, if bookmarked. Now you have to open the Sidebar (click), choose between All Pages or Bookmarks Only (another click), then scroll to find the much smaller page (another click). And you have to keep the sidebar open, which unnecessaryily takes up ipad screen space. And their only justification for making this common function less simple and less accessible is that it's more ... "streamlined". This helps NO ONE. No one asked for this. Only the developers themselves find this beneficial ... what, to look at? They chose (poor) design over function, breaking the first rule of interface design. They should be let go. -

Can we have the option to revert back to the old toolbar or turn off the floating toolbar. It gets in the way when writing and the new tool bar makes it difficult to adjust the color and stroke thickness.

I am very frustrated with the layout of this version of Goodnotes. It used to be a lot more compatible to hand write notes, and now it is a nightmare. I do not like the toolbar options, switching fonts is a gong show and the app overall is not user friendly. Please bring back Goodnotes 5 or at least allow us to have the option to downgrade

Obstructs workflow, makes switch tools more difficult, covers page, all the added colours need an additional 2 taps. Goodnotes 5 in 2022 was better than this

I agree. I'm finding it so hard to type on slides when taking lecture notes because every time I click off a text box, it automatically switches to the lasso tool.

The floating toolbar is worse than Epstein

The floating toolbar takes more space and it’s more clicks. Keep everything in one spot. I like the old toolbar

I'm actually using Goodnotes less because the floating toolbar bothers me. I think its ok to present all users new changes after an update, but give us the option to go back if a change in the interface doesn't fit our individual needs.

Completely agree, i largely prefer when we can right the text directly with my handwritten notes, also the ruler has disappeared which i did use a lot. Anyway the recent update is a complete mess, i hope that there is a possibility to downgrade to the previous version

I specifically chose Goodnotes over Notability because I wanted to avoid features being hidden unnecessarily behind extra clicks and menus. I'm honestly so frustrated, I reverted to Goodnotes 5.

I am beyond frustrated with the disruptive update that you released directly in the middle of midterms. My biggest request at this time is to provide options for how the outline is ordered. I had my entire set of Chemistry notes beautifully organized in my outline. The update came out and the order is completely screwed up. This is one of the most ridiculous things that you could have done. A company whose sole directive is to produce an application for taking notes should know not to mess with things during midterms and finals. Major updates should be released in the summer.
Please add an option for how the outlines are ordered (i.e., the user can decide on organizing by date created, page number, alphabetical, etc.).
Also, stop the lasso from defaulting constantly. Leave it to whatever tool I selected last, or at least reset it to default to the pen.
I can't believe how long ago this update was released and there have been no fixes or reversals for the insanely large list of items users are frustrated about. I was waiting for an update, but given how long it has been, I'm concerned that nothing is going to be fixed. I understand that change is important, but don't force people into how they use the app. At least provide options to customize or revert major changes.

Please provide an option of switching back to this previous toolbar layout. I really like this layout and think it's easier to use.

This latest update of Goodnotes is absolutely terrible and breaks Goodnotes. I use the keyboard with my iPad and the text feature now is absolutely horrendous. It is difficult to start with text, easy to lose text and makes the user experience terrible.
When is the updated version coming? -

Absolutely agree here. Goodnotes 7 update has made the app less user-friendly, more complicated to do simple tasks, removed functionality and has created so many headaches. Why do I need a sub-toolbar that hides part of my page and then when I select an option from said sub-toolbar it doesn't automatically resize my page back to full view?! PLEASE BRING BACK MY TOOLBAR!
