[Lasso] Stop making lasso the default
Stop having lasso be the default tool. I cannot even remove it from the toolbar. It is frustrating that everything always goes back to lasso. I can’t even do multiple text boxes one after the other because once you type in a text box once and click off it goes straight to lasso instead of having text toggled on like it used to

Agree 100%. Having Lasso as the default is a constant interruption — please let the app remember the last tool used instead. It’s a small tweak that would make a big difference.

This is ridiculous. I use Goodnotes for so many things regularly, especially the elements tool. I don't know where in your design process you thought that this was a good UX design. The point is to get users to the end goal through the least amount of steps possible. This is beyond poor app design and completely disregards your own MVP - making note taking and designing more efficient. This makes me want to scream in frustration every time I open the app. Not happy...

The update kinda sucks. It is really annoying that the lasso tool is now the default option, and I no longer know how to change the default settings for when I'm typing or writing. before it was just apart of the toolbar when the icon was clicked. I seem to be having a hard time finding it if its still an option. Like if you choose the text box icon you could choose a default font and font size, now i do not know where to change that if possible. Can you please switch it back or incorporate those parts again? Thank you!

It sounds like the default tool behavior is disrupting your workflow, especially when switching frequently between text and other functions. You might find it helpful to submit feedback to the developers so they can consider adding a persistent tool toggle option. I’ve seen users streamline their work by exploring Pet Management Apps https://vca-woofapps.com that offer more stable editing controls and customization features. Adjusting tool settings or using alternative editors during intensive text work could also reduce frustration.

You made a valid point about the tool constantly switching back, which interrupts the workflow. It would be much better if the text tool stayed active until manually changed. You might also find it helpful to explore menu settings or recent updates that affect default tool behavior. For anyone who enjoys improving their overall Silver Dining Experience while discussing usability, here’s something worth checking: Silver Dining Experience at https://mylongjohnsilversexperience.xyz. Hopefully the developers consider adjusting this setting in future updates.

I understand the frustration with the default lasso tool. For streamlined tasks like working on https://theudiseplus.com/udise-plus-student-module/, a persistent text tool would be much more efficient and positive for user workflow.

Why the **** do you feel the need to absolutely ***** up the app in each new update?

I agree! Please stop making Lasso the default tool - this is incredibly frustrating. It should just stay on the last tool you picked.

Terrible que hayan tomado esta decisión, cada uno debería poder seleccionar su herramienta predeterminada de acuerdo al uso que le da a good notes, si esto no se resuelve perderán a varios clientes. Por favor hagan algo pronto.

Came back to the app after a while to find this update. The default lasso tool has got to be one of the worst updates. Very inefficient and makes me not want to use goodnotes anymore and just use the regular notes app instead. Terrible.

I use many text boxes on my pages. It's extremely frustrating that the lasso tool reactivates immediately after editing a text box. This makes Goodnotes unusable for me.

I absolutely Love GoodNotes. I use everyday at work and at home. I praise it and recommend it to everyone. That being said, this resent update with the lasso tool being a default setting is TERRIBLE. It slows down your workflow and just does not make any sense.
Please fix this ASAP. -

Many users are frustrated with the new GoodNotes update that keeps the lasso tool as the default, interrupting workflow and making tasks like adding multiple text boxes unnecessarily difficult. Until this issue is addressed, users may need to manually switch tools each time. You guys keep messing with classic features and regressing this app. Don’t fix what’s not broken lol. Not sure if you have users who are giving the dev team bad intel for things to change or if you guys simply aren’t even testing feature changes with a large enough test group but it feels like functions are being changed based on just vibes. I’ve been a loyal user for almost a decade now and you guys make it hard to stick around when non-sensical changes are made.
Please bring back the feature where the textbox function remains selected to allow a quick creation of subsequent text boxes. The ability to create text boxes quickly fluidly without having to click on the function again in the toolbar is essential for efficient note-taking.
Side note: I used to recommend GoodNotes to anyone who was looking for a note-taking app. Lately not anymore. I would love if you guys made this app functional so that I can start recommending it with no reservations.

This update with the default lasso tool has disrupted my workflow by increasing the time it takes to produce what I need. The increased clicks are frustrating, distracting, and diminish the ease of use.
A user should have the option to choose their default tool.

Just started using Goodnotes and thought I was an idiot because I had to constantly switch from lasso back to text box every time. So glad to find out everyone hates this. Makes the app unusable for taking notes.

This software becomes useless to me the way it is now. I am slowed down with extra clicks to get back to the text mode each time. The menu band has also become too minimalistic all the functionalities are hidden now and require extra clicks. Not to mention the fact that a floating copy/paste menu constantly blocks my floating keyboard.

This is terrible! Lasso should not be the default tool!
